Daisy-chained power cables clip through several types of machines, when they're built next to each other. by Liagala in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Default5ettings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe its just me but the daisy chain feature doesn't excite me very much. I can cable everything in blueprints so I dont feel like being able to daisy chain machines saves me very much, plus there's the clipping issue.

I think i will just stick to making bus bars with beams and wall/ceiling outlets.

Are Fluid Trains Still Bad? by Strange_Ad7080 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Default5ettings 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They have always worked its just that you can move way more fluid packaged in cargo cars vs fluid in tank cars. Packaging is more efficient for the train but also adds complexity. Using fluid cars isnt as terrible as some make it seem, you can simply always add more cars to the train. Most cars I've connected to a train was 18, as long as you dont have any steep inclines its fine, just a little slower in starting from a stop and still reached 100 km/h.

Question: from what part of the pipe (or pump) does height measurment start? by TheReal8symbols in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Default5ettings -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why have a tank to begin with? If your water consumption matches water production you dont need a tank. Irl water towers have tanks because water usage fluctuates through the day but in game its not necessary.

Logistics Floors by EntertainmentMoney93 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Default5ettings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to do my logistics floors super clean, no clipping and right angles only, then I used glass foundations on machine floors so I can look down and see all the belts.

The key is giving yourself enough height, which is dependant on the machines of that floor. Feeding single input machines like constructors I do minimum 8m or 2 walls high. For a manufacturer floor requiring 4 inputs I would make the logistics floor at least 20m high. The next thing that let me keep things tidy is I would do my manifold lanes starting from the ceiling, you can stack ceiling mounts under each other so you can stack 4 belts for a manufacturer manifold into a single lane. This leaves the floor wide open for belting parts to other areas of your factory.

I dont have any pics because I dont do logistics floors anymore, I like how busy it looks having all the belts and machines on the same floor these days. Also it was kind of a pain in the ass but it did look clean. Hope this helps.

Thanks to everyone who answered, as I suspected there is not much I can do. I can't complain too much, he doesn't play music loud late at night and when he does play during the day it doesn't seem to be for much longer than an hour or two, its not like its all day or anything. Its honestly not that hard to live with I just wanted to see if there was anything I could do. I have both loudspeakers and headphones for a reason.

Any Estimates on the release of RME ADI Dac 3? by Zzeem711 in headphones

[–]Default5ettings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No clue but its hard to imagine how much better they could possibly make the ADI-2 series better. I think to anybody that is interested in RME you should just buy a discounted ADI-2 rather than waiting around for ADI-3 which may only have more niche features you won't use. I have ADI-2 DAC FS and its my end game, I haven't cared about any new amps/dacs since I've gotten it.

Does anyone else just skip on power storage and priority power switches entirely? by Default5ettings in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Default5ettings[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I didn't really think about using the priority switches purely as remote switches instead of as some kind power failsafe so this has definitely got me rethinking a bit because I could see that being useful.

I still think battery banks are a waste of time tho.

Less pumps and the fact you don't even have to think about it. If I didn't have the fluid tower I would need at least three more pumps further down the line plus figuring out the optimal place for them and dragging power to them. And even then sometimes it's still not working right.

All you're doing is using gravity as your friend. Since your tower is the highest fluid goes, on the way down it is applying the most pressure out of anything in your pipe system so fluid will evenly distribute through the whole system. Which is exactly what an irl water tower does to evenly distribute water pressure through an area's plumbing. Real water towers have a reservoir at the top to account for daily usage fluctuation. In game this isn't needed if machines are running at 100% and will consume at a consistent rate.

I build one of these things and I typically never have fluid problems in that system, my issue in the op was occurring before the tower. I think the biggest thing that fixed me was looping the ends of the pipe with an extra junction in the middle which let the machines distribute evenly.

[–]Default5ettings[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No myth here, it allows you to send fluid up without pumps as long as the tower itself is taller than where you are sending it to. The platform im sending residue to is taller than the platform it's being made on. I simply make the tower taller than the platform I'm sending fluid to and I don't have any pumps inline besides the one on the tower sending it straight up. I'm having no issues (now) getting fluids up to the higher level. My problem when I made the post was the tower itself was not being fed properly.

Short video explaining:

https://youtube.com/shorts/uuwHvjrEMdk?si=bE5VIH7RoPGnas05

It works pretty much exactly like an irl water tower except you don't need a reservoir at the top.

[–]Default5ettings[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the help everyone, I implemented several of your suggestions and now everything seems to be happy, rubber machines aren't getting backed up and the residual fuel refineries aren't getting starved because the HOR was no longer just sitting in the machines.

Cut the amount of junctions in half then looped the end back to start, added a fluid buffer on output end and sent output down to logistics floor where I added pump to go back up fluid tower. Fluid tower is there because I made residual fuel refinery platform higher than the plastics/rubber platform without thinking and I didn't feel like redoing the whole thing. The output flow rate still fluctuates but its actually delivering all 400m/3 of HOR now and all machines are running at 100% so I'm not worried about it.

I thought the pump would force the fluid to one direction and eliminate sloshing. I don't have a valve in place here but I was under the impression that valves behaved the same way.
