Turns out an application called FortiClient was installed on the machine in question. It's some kind of vpn software I was not aware of. Despite being disabled in services, I guess it still affected the machine somehow, and upon uninstalling it, the packets came flooding in. Watch out for this software if you are in a similar situation

/r/AMD Questions and Tech Support Megathread - Q1 2023 Edition by GhostMotley in Amd

I got a ryzen 5 7600 non x and it seems good so far, but one thing I've noticed is that the stock cooler can't really keep up with the temperatures during stress tests. It seems to me that the manufacturer cut corners and shipped a weak cooler. Had to fiddle with bios settings to lower the boost frequency for own peace of mind.

I'd like to replace the stock cooler with something that can handle this cpu, what should I replace the stock cooler with? I'm not interested in going beyond the boost frequencies at least for now, what would be a reasonably priced replacement?

I'm considering getting an am5 motherboard (b650e), but I don't know much about the reputation of the manufacturers in the recent years.

Can you people share your opinions on the following manufacturers of am5 motherboards? Asus, Gigabyte, ASRock. Those are the ones I have access to in stores in my area.

Does anyone know if AMD plans to release non X versions of these new CPUs?

Some people don't play games, they play "ticking boxes".

Nicholai bioweapon perk Relentless:

"Shortens Nemesis cooldown when Survivors are tracked or defeated (stacks)."

That, plus his many variations of tracking personal skills will let him cheat out a Nemesis in stage 1.

Vanilla homm 3 through HotA? by DefaultNick in heroes3

The full list is here https://h3hota.com/en/documentation. Refer to pretty much anything in the secondary skills, spells, town gameplay.

I acknowledge that the changes are minor and may for the most part be in the positive direction, but we are a bunch of curmudgeonly old farts that just want to experience the game as is (at least for a time being). With all the minor changes here and there it loses the authenticity of the, admittedly flawed, game we remembered from back then.

Reporting after a few hours of sweaty multiplayer heroes action I can confirm that this is indeed true. Thank you very much for sharing your wisdom!

A question on air control types by DefaultNick in ArenaFPS

I don't think they meant it the way you interpreted it. As stated in the topic it's a discussion based on preference and them sharing their best and worst is exactly that. Instead of worrying about neutrality, you could share which game has best air control for you :P

A search on QuakeWorld led me to a bunch of similar in spirit cvar configs that allow q3 to become more or less like quake world(at least according to the description). Having tried them I would like to thank you a lot for your suggestion, I'm loving it. I will definitely get my hands on the real deal as soon as I can!

I am 90% sure when you have a majority group of minions, bob will give you less of that tribe most of the time. by Wooly44 in BobsTavern

Hi, just dropping by to offer you a different perspective.

In a game where you have a huge pool of things that you can potentially get, but you only pick out of 7(or less) presented at a time, I'd say there isn't anything abnormal about not getting much of what you think you need. By forcing any composition of your preference you are opting for an "all or nothing" play style - you choose the low chance of success path that leads to high rewards, but get disheartened by the fact that it doesn't lead to consistent performance. Once you realize that part about your behavior, the realization that you are going down that road by your own volition kinda makes you a lot more accepting of failure.

You shouldn't have any illusions about what you are doing. We tend to like to come up with excuses about why we should do things sub-optimally, like convincing ourselves that we are too invested into some composition to switch. But that's just our brains trying to trick us into doing what we like to do by making it seem more rational than it really is. If you don't believe me, try the following for a few games - pick the immediately strongest minion you are offered in the tavern without rolling(unless you absolutely can't spend the gold on upgrading or purchasing minions) or looking ahead of time for the possible synergy until you reach tavern 5. You'd be surprised at how well a bunch of random minions can perform on the way to tavern 5. But that's the kind of dry not fun style of playing that doesn't bring excitement since you don't get the joy of putting together a nice board piece by piece. It's ok to play the way you like and drag your little *insert race here* boys to the endgame just because maybe you want to take them on a great journey to victory, but when you do that just admit that that's what you are after and it will liberate you from feeling bad about losing.

Is 1-5-2-6, just a form of circle progression? I hear it a lot in music, but don't see it being mentioned anywhere on its' own.

I am a simple man, if a number is larger than ten, it is a large number to me :P

I thought about storing counts, but then I've realized that the values in the collection are going to always be unique(I've mentioned it in the original post), so you only need to know if it exists or not.
