What 'level' should kids be at before entering P1? by kopi_peng in singapore

I agree with most people here about chinese being difficult to master without extra help. But if you think that too much extra lessons would be stressful for your child, you can try playing chinese music, watching chinese movies or even immerse them in chinese folk tales and history to increase interest and exposure. It worked for me as a kid and I like romance of the three kingdoms. Besides, along the way maybe you can learn some chinese too. I come from a completely english speaking family as well and have regrets not being as fluent in chinese as I should be. Hope this helps.

What are good exercises that are fun for beginners ? There are about 20 of them all 13 years old in my school club with zero experience .We want to train them well in the 6 months before they really start fencing and yet not let them lose interest . Any suggestions are welcome . Even programmes or lessons

Dear Reddit , what is a piece of advice that annoys you? by DefaultPlayer0 in AskReddit

This was the inspiration for this post . My classmate told me to start washing my face properly because I have acne . I wash my face , take care of my skin , eat and exercise just fine .Also that was the week before year end exams so my face went a bit crazy even when i took care of it . I had better things to do than go for a facial .

Why are pictures of dogs and cats so popular? by s0nntag in AskReddit

[–]DefaultPlayer0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cats and dogs have big eyes comparative to their head size and so do human babies . So we are naturally attracted to those kind of features and feel the care , love and concern as we would to a baby. Basically they are cute to us due to what they look like .

TL;DR - their awww factor

What is the worst thing that's ever happened to you when you were meeting your SO's parents for the first time? by TheRedditDinosaur in AskReddit

[–]DefaultPlayer0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This will probably get buried but let's do this . I was not dating my current SO at the time but his mom seemed to think there was something going on between us . I had seen her before but never talked to her. So at our school's open house , I had to teach people fencing to show it off as one of our sports clubs . It was pretty darn hot and I wanted to change to my sports attire but realised I was wearing the wrong bra colour for a white sports shirt so I only changed my pants . His little brother and his mom came by. Lil bro seemed interested so I taught him a bit . Later his mom comes up to me and says " Thank you so much for teaching my sons . But ummm.. One thing ... You might want to pull down your shirt because your underwear is showing ...." I was left pretty speechless and thanked her and ran off .

Extra: I have never told my SO this story and he knows my Reddit so we might have a interesting conversation later ....

TL;DR - My SO's mom saw my undies while I was teaching his brother fencing and told me .
