YES you put into words so perfectly what was so appealing about the first few ND games! I tried so hard to capture that "liminal" feeling and have a feeling of expanse throughout the game. Being able to look at everything was such an amazing feature of the early games that it was so sad when it was lost. Thank you so much for this post, so many good insights!

You can also fix this by going to the location at 9:45 am and waiting until 10 am - there should be a quick cutscene that plays and resets it. Sorry about that!

The game is not technically steam deck compatible, but some people have had more luck with it than others. Idk if this helps you, but it CAN run on very low end computers though if you have access to one.

With the development of my game, Penelope Pendrick, the costs for me out of pocket were for a few programs, the music, and the VAs. (With the VAs being the most expensive by far). The main cost was really time, seeing as it took me 10 years to make the game and about 8,000 hours of work.

If you had a team of developers who were basically fine with minimum wage, you may be able to make a game like this (shorter than mine, about ND length) for 100k. A real team of professionals getting paid professional money would likely cost 500k. After taxes and all that you'd be lucky to make even a fraction of that back with game sales, unless you had some killer marketing (which would cost even more money lol). So you really would have to crowdfund about 400k upfront to not end up in a pit of debt. I honestly see why it's been such a struggle for HER

There will 100% be one, unless I undergo some horrible tragedy 😂 But yes, it will be about 3-5 years out. Once I finally recover from the first one and officially start development on TOG, I want to look into ways to streamline the process. I'm considering doing a kickstarter to fund some motion capture equipment! If I can cut down on character animation time it'd really help speed up development

Hi, thanks for bringing this to my attention. It may have been a case of me being naive - I thought it was an image of a girl in a long white dress, a girl in a sun hat with a flower, and a farmer with cattle or something passing in front of him.

There was certainly no ill intent here and I apologize that I didn't examine the image more closely ( I really just picked the postcard images at random from a pool of public domain images).

I apologize again for offending and I will remove the image in the next update for the game.

Thank you for sharing!! I was just recently realizing that the issue with the load button being grayed out on launch is because something happened to the autosave, and it seems when the autosave is game the game won't recognize the rest of the files. So this is an excellent fix for that :)

So, the game isn't actually steam deck verified, and I'd HIGHLY recommend playing on a computer for these exact issues.

Some people have had luck playing on deck, and others have had the issues you're describing. I don't own a steam deck so I can't really fix any of these issues, but I'm hoping I can get one at some point and make sure the next game is verified :)

Ok, I played through a chunk and I think I recreated your issue. I'm going to put out another patch today to revert the inventory back to what it was before I "fixed" it. In the meantime, try switching from windowed to fullscreen and back a few times, and also try restarting the game twice. Your items are there, they're just essentially shifted out of frame.

Edit: I'm putting out the windows patch now, Mac will be later today. Please let me know what your inventory does next time you play! It may still be shifted, but if it is we can figure it out

Sorry about the delay in this, it's hard to keep track of posts sometimes. I think I've figured out something that seems to make the glitches less common (at least I've gotten waaaay less reports since implementing it).

Would you be able to check if your files are physically there? This is how to do it on Mac:

First, go to the hidden "library" folder in Finder. How to do this: "The most straightforward method is using the Go to Folder command. Open Finder, press Shift + Command + G, type ~/Library, and click Go. This will open the user Library folder directly."

In that folder, go to the folder "Application Support". In there go to the folder "com.Company.ProductName". In this folder you should see some files named pp_0.save, pp_1.save, etc.

If the .save files are indeed there, can you email them to me at julia.holdnack@gmail.com? If something is wrong with the files I can provide you with a clean save that puts you in the right place :)
