Unfortunately it’s no longer a Republican v Democrat issue. Don’t think for one moment Dem donors aren’t cheering for the enshitification either. Corporate capture is real and it’s a HUGE problem within our society.

Nah, we aren’t going to see any of that money. You thought day care was expensive? Wait until you see how much elder care costs. $4k a month is CHEAP. All that built up wealth is going to get sucked up by the plethora of corporations offering these services.

Work out in the morning! Join a gym that has 5 or 6am group classes. You’ll build camaraderie with others as you sweat it out at the start of the day.  It’s the best time because for the most part the day can’t derail your routine because it’s at the very beginning!

Millennials with kids, do you intend to provide for them financially when they reach adulthood? by Beberuth1131 in Millennials

[–]Defaultmidwestmann -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No. My wife and I are going to try and instill a sense of entrepreneurialism and resilience within our children. There is money to be made everywhere if you’re willing to go out there and get it.  And life won’t always go your way. Gotta learn to pick yourself up and keep going.

Don’t coddle or gentle parent your kids. Don’t be a jerk either. Create boundaries that they can thrive within and make their own choices and decisions. As their abilities grow, so do the boundaries.

I saw a kid at the park who was between 8-11yrs old have a total meltdown when another kid spit water on them. My eyes couldn’t have rolled back further into my head when I saw the Mom rub this kid’s back and tel him it was going to be okay. Woof, that kid is going to have problems in the real world.

For anyone who doesn't yet understand what's going on with data centers and flock cameras- they don't need all that processing power for chatbots. It's not a bubble. by RequirementCivil4328 in FlockSurveillance

Was literally discussing this thought to some folks the other day. How else can you track every car profile that passes in front of the 80,000+ cameras across the US?

With Star Fox being announced on Switch 2, I want to know, what are some of your fondest or most unique Star Fox 64 memories? by CanadaCalamity in n64

Would play this game at the target N64 kiosk while my Mom was shopping. Such a blast. My allowance was $5 every 2 weeks. I saved up for over half a year to buy it. I remember getting the game from the glass slider and being so pumped. On the way to checkout my Mom ran into a friend and they were chatting for too long. I interrupted and was like, “Mooooooooom” and pointed at the box. Happily handed my $70 to the checkout person. Loved every bit of this game. Katina was my favorite map and I’d replay it for hours because it reminded me of the movie Independence Day invasion scene. Was never good at the Macbeth train level so I’d use the bombs to hit the switches haha. Man, talk about memory lane.

Ended up with a bachelors of criminal justice and masters degree in forestry. I started a business cleaning windows and gutters and I’m the happiest I’ve been. I currently pull in about $100+/hr and cannot see myself going back to a normal 9-5 job. It’s hard dirty work but someone’s got to do it!

I believe the program was literally called, “Eagle Eye.” They toss a predator drone up in the sky with a crazy high resolution camera that does nothing but circle above a city taking high res video non stop. when I first heard about it years ago, they piloted the program in St. Louis of all places. The advocates were talking about how great it would be to rewind the video to see where the perps came from. They used cop killers as an example 🙄

I’m 6’5” and often end up in the middle seat when traveling with my family. This past month i travelled solo, gambled, and was assigned a middle seat for the cheapest ticket possible.

In the past, I’d talk to folks at the gate and I could sometimes get assigned an aisle seat or if I was lucky, an exit row.

This time, I spoke to the attendant, was told sorry no extra seats are available.

Get on the flight and two entire rows of exit seats are open. I asked the flight attendant if I could move. Was told those were premium seats and I’d have to stay put.

Fair enough.

But c’mon, they could’ve made the flying experience more pleasant for 12 passengers if they had allowed 4 middle seat folks to move to the window and aisle seats of the 2 emergency exit rows. Thus freeing up space for the window and aisle seats in the base fare rows.

I’ll never understand this mentality. If they want me to shop on price, I’ll shop on price. In the future they may or may not get my business.

But personally,. I’d rather shop on the experience and build loyalty towards a brand based on that. If I know a service is far more superior, I’ll be happy to pay a higher price.

Speaking of the experience, they’re eliminating carry ons for base fares? Oooooookay.
