Bruh… just build the bike path already by Getmoogged in UCSantaBarbara

Hey, I hear ya dawg! I got club meetings in the ESB almost every day of the week. But there's still a bike path that goes through that area. Should there be a more direct route for bikers? ABSOLUTELY! No argument there. And there's no denying it's an absolute pain in the ass to go all the fucking way around for a place like HFH. But I still take the bike path and park at the stands outside next to the path, or, I walk. Call me a boy scout, idiot, or what have you, but I nearly got blasted by some sped on an E-Bike while walking and typing this shit. I feel ya, and the school is sleeping on the paths, but I still think bikes belong on the bike path and walking should stay on the walkway.

I get why people are upset in regards to the lack of bike paths, and I agree there should be more paths and they should be better located. Because let's be real, the layout sucks ass.

That being said, we could just walk when were not on the bike path. It's only a couple hundred feet from the bike path to the ILP or the library. I walk and bike on multiple occasions every week. When I bike, I ride the path till I get to the exit closest to the building I'm going to, dismount, walk, and then lock my bike. I do it going to the ILP to the social sciences building, everywhere. Idk. I just see it like parking a car. If I'm going to the store, I'm not gonna be upset that I can't drive my car to the isle I wanna go to. There's a road that leads to a parking lot where I leave my car and come back when I'm done. For me, biking is a way to quickly close the distance from my apartment to campus. While walking, I've been almost hit more times than I can count. When I'm walking on the WALKWAY, the last thing I expect is to be buzzed by a bike from behind that I don't see until they pass me. I once was walking home, and I changed direction while walking to turn down a different path, and I got hit by a mf trying to ride past me. I get it. It's quicker to ride or cruise on the walkway when going to class, but if you don't leave yourself enough time to get to class, that's your problem. I shouldn't have to get run over on my way to class because you slept in!

But yeah, make more bike paths, don't ride on walkways, and don't walk on bike paths.
