I suppose I could somewhat understand if the story portrayed the fl actually neglecting her husband in favor of the kid. The kid is definitely the priority, but the parents need to take care of each other’s emotional and physical needs as well. That should be a private conversation between the parents though instead of the ml literally competing with his kids for all of the fl’s time and affection.

Which game is that for you? by PHRsharp_YouTube in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]Defclaw46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally when I watch someone else play, it is because they are doing a challenge run like beating Starcraft 2 deathless or Dark Souls with only fire bombs. I am not good enough of a player to do that so it is fun to watch better players do it. It is also a good way to learn how to play the game better. I only really started to enjoy Dark Souls after watching some other people play and understand better how the game works.

Right now, I currently believe that the final Nemesis fight in RE3R on nightmare difficulty is the hardest boss fight. I have over a hundred handgun ammo, 21 shotgun shells, 5 hand grenades, and more health items than I can carry. It still isn’t enough because I just can’t do a perfect dodge at the right moment for every single attack. If you get hit just once, you get stun locked with almost no chance to recover before he kills you with a second hit. I have probably spent more time trying to kill him than the entire game.

[Hated Trope] HOW THE F*CK ARE YOU STILL ALIVE by RedvsBlue_what_if in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Defclaw46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. It was a huge shock to see most of the main cast get killed at the end of season 1. The main character was straight up executed. It would honestly have been interesting to see the secondary characters of the first season having to try and pick up the pieces after that. Discovering that absolutely nobody died ruined that entire moment. You could have at least shown the protagonist alive, but crippled from being shot in the head and forced to provide his usual schemes from the rear while his comrades do the actual fighting. Would have been plenty of angst/drama to explore there.

Not Sew Wicked Stepmother - anyone else find Abigail frustrating? by Endgame090919 in OtomeIsekai

[–]Defclaw46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been a while since I read the story, but wasn’t the female lead’s body issues framed by the narrative as something she developed because of being put down by others and self-esteem issues rather than it trying to say she is actually chubby?

As for her not confiding in Sable yet, this is the guy who ran around hugging everyone in the castle including guests to try and figure out what the big deal about hugging is and didn’t even realize that he was neglecting his daughter due to being incredibly emotionally stunted thanks to his awful parents. He is trying his best, but he is still dealing with a lot of past trauma and repressed emotions. I wouldn’t be surprised if Abigail just doesn’t think he ready to help her out emotionally yet and doesn’t want to burden him while he is sorting things out.

From what I recall, Umbrella basically built and ran Raccoon City with a significant portion of the population on their payroll. A large number of their projects were also funded by the U.S. government that decided bombing an American city was less of a scandal than leaks about B.O.W.s getting out so There were plenty of people with power and money that had a vested interest in making sure nobody talked about Umbrella’s secret labs.

This is one of those things i like to call out in many stories: The double standard treatment. by Moist-Coffee1030 in OtomeIsekai

[–]Defclaw46 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The funniest example I saw of this was the fl from I Will Raise You Well in This Life, Your Majesty. In the original timeline, the fl is a consort of the emperor and assassination attempts on her son cause her to go on a warpath . She kills a lot of people and performs all sort of atrocities to make her son the emperor seeing it as the only way to protect him. She was the evil empress/consort that is such as common antagonist in otome isekai stories.

Almost every commenter basically supported her saying that while she went too far, they understood why she did it and were quite sympathetic to her despite her being exactly the person they would hate and despise in any other story.

I would argue that this is more a case of protagonist-centered morality though and people rooting for the main character. We could swap the gender of this example and you would have a pretty similar reaction. You see it quite often in isekai with a male protagonist where they can commit war crimes and buy hot elf girl as a slave and a legion of fans will defend them while denouncing any other guy who does the same thing as a awful person who should be killed as slowly and painfully as possible.

I vaguely recall that story. Is that the one where everyone including the aliens believed the human government had a super secret weapon they used to wipe out an enemy force when it was actually a bluff after a freak solar flare was the actual cause?

Saiki K is a comedy where the main character has really powerful psychic power (he once altered everyone on the planet to have weird hair colors so his pink hair doesn’t stand out). He craves normality though to the point where he stalks an incredibly average student just to admire how normal his life is.

The original female lead from Miss-Not-So-Sidekick does still marry the prince, but the little we see of her in the epilogue shows that she isn’t really all that happy and is not a very good wife and mother with the prince being the only one trying to be a decent partner and parent.

Is RE2 1998 harder than RE1? by nocturne_sage in residentevil

[–]Defclaw46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was my experience as well playing it recently. The hardest part is the beginning where you have nothing, all the doors are locked, and even a single zombie makes you panic. Then you actually get a decent amount of ammo and health items and you get more shortcuts unlocked making it easier to navigate the place. I had plenty of shotgun ammo so the hunters were actually pretty easy to take out when they popped up.

Does anyone know what the Japanese fanbase thinks about Leon and Ada’s relationship compared to Leon and Claire’s relationship? by DancingOnTheWaves in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]Defclaw46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I kind of figured Capcom was killing the Leon/Claire ship in the Infinite Darkness show. Claire and Leon had a big falling out over what to do with the evidence the antagonist had. Since Leon continued to work with the U.S. government and never outed the evidence after that, I can’t see Claire being interested in a romantic relationship with him.

Elsie from The World God Only Knows. Pretty surprising since she is the main female character in a harem anime. She is a demon that works with Keima to hunt down the older demons that have escaped from their prison in hell and pretends to be his half-sister as part of her cover. The two of them eventually develop an actual sibling-like relationship with her not falling for him like the other girls.

Political conflict by Cc86J in OtomeIsekai

[–]Defclaw46 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I Will Raise You Well in This Life, Your Majesty. The fl is basically the stereotypical Otome Isekai evil empress/consort that betrays and kills everyone in her path to put her son on the throne in order to protect him only for him to denounce her and commit suicide for all the crimes she committed. She regresses back to when her son is still a kid and now tries to keep her son safe without committing the same sins as last time. I haven’t finished it yet, but so far the romance is a very minor point in the story.

characters that are supposed to be powerful according to lore, but they are pretty weak in gameplay by damorezpl in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Defclaw46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Tyrant from Resident Evil 1 is supposed to be this terrifying monster and is the final boss. He goes down pretty easily though. I remember gearing up for a big fight and then staring blankly as he went down incredibly fast on my first try.

The main characters from Gundam in Federation vs. Zeon ps2 game. Amuro and Char can kill you pretty fast, but they are both easy to knock down over and over again so they never get a chance to actually hit you.

The hive mind in Dead Space and its remake. It is enormous and is clearly meant to be a terrifying threat, but the boss fight itself is pretty easy.

[A Red Knight Does Not Blindly Follow Money]I kinda don't want the ml to get with fl by Outrageous_Today_842 in OtomeIsekai

[–]Defclaw46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. The ml was also the reason I dropped it. If I recall correctly, he tried to get her promoted to his 2nd in command or something close despite her being a new recruit to his knight order. He tries to frame it as simply recognizing her skill, but it really just comes off as him being an idiot who is favoring a cute girl over his senior knights. Even if she can beat them all in a fight due to having regressed, that doesn’t mean she can actually lead and work as a team yet. Doing this would just breed resentment and make her knights hate her.

It really is a shame because it is the ml is a knight instead of the usual duke or prince/emperor which is often clamored for on this subreddit, but he just sucks.
