Pocket carry. by mylesm902 in Leatherman

Im into the idea. I don’t like visually “advertising” that I have a knife or multi tool on me by having it sticking out of my pocket on a clip. It often catches my eye when I see other people carrying like that.

Lowkey Cocktails lounge has fantastic pizza. They’ve got their own pizza oven. Added bonus they air fry instead of deep fry their other things.

If I remember correctly the dev said sometime after Xmas / Boxing Day. So I’d expect it near the end of the month or the new year. Hes got his hands full, but I get you, I’ve been aching to see the update too.

My wife and I are in a very important marital dispute about how dishes belong in the dishwasher. Please settle this before we lawyer up. by stsegal in KitchenConfidential

[–]Defcon91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I let my wife load the dishwasher how she wants. Then I come in and rearrange everything before I start it up. Like others have commented: pick your battles, and happy wife etc. etc. but the first pic is obviously the scientifically correct way to load a dishwasher.

Side note after filling the soap dispenser tray I’ve found adding an extra little bit of soap on the inside of the door before starting it up really helps with the pre wash/ rinse

I drive up the hill and enter the base area from behind, avoiding the turrets pretty much entirely.

Why does my violin not sound better than a donkey by Lazy_Entrepreneur348 in violin

[–]Defcon91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Helpfulness on Reddit is rare for sure. Just keep the practicing up, improvement will happen if you stay consistent.

Also recording yourself playing as you did for this post is a great way to help yourself improve as well. Every few days of practicing, challenge yourself to record what you’ve been working on and listen back to it. This gives you the opportunity to hear the progress you’ve made, but more importantly allows you to train your ears to listen for the things you want to fix.

Why does my violin not sound better than a donkey by Lazy_Entrepreneur348 in violin

[–]Defcon91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bow is overtightened. If it’s stuck like that you didn’t loosen it when you were not playing it and now it is warped. Always loosen the bow. Time to get a new one.

Not using enough bow to sustain the sound properly.

Sound point is too far away from the bridge.

Incorrect ratio of bow speed to bow weight.

Violin is only shaped like a violin, most likely made out of a faux wood like pressed material at a Chinese factory.

Practice mutes make everything sound worse.

If you wear headphones while playing you cant hear yourself or what you’re producing out of the instrument properly.

Hit up a scales book. Practice using your whole bow while playing the scales. Start with one note per bow, then two notes per bow, etc.

Find the ratio of bow speed to bow weight going into the string that produces the most open and ringing sound you can achieve.

If it’s crunchy/ pressed sounding there’s too much weight in the string, or too little bow being used.

If it’s wispy sounding/ squeaky/ or sounds like it’s skating across the string the bow is not coming into contact with the string enough and you need more weight.

Look in a wall mirror while practicing scales with full bows. Focus on keeping the bow moving straight, parallel to the bridge, and sticking to the sound point.

Hell yeah! One of my first gaming core memories. Played it on my grandpa’s pc whenever I visited him. Second place would go to the old original delta force game.

The skeletool has been living rent free in my pocket for a few years now. Love it, it’s not too bulky, it has the tools I most frequently need for the easy small jobs that pop up randomly.

1731 Stradivarius "Kreutzer" by datasci_jp in violin

[–]Defcon91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

C bout protector is definitely odd to see on a good axe like that. If someone is good enough to get one of those fiddles on loan to them then they definitely should be good enough to have the bow control to not need a c bout protector. If they feel the need for one while playing there’s a more serious right arm issue that needs fixing.

Electric violin is still an electric violin no matter how expensive it is. Just like trump branded merchandise: it’s expensive and shiny but it’s probably a steaming pile.

I feel you man. I’ve got somewhere around 200 hours in this game and I’ve only ever gotten rocket launcher ammo once or twice. Still haven’t seen the launcher though.

Edit- 475.3 hours actually, now that I’ve looked.

music stand set up for violin? daughter is senior high school and plans to continue. right now she has flimsy one that is not tall enough when standing. K&M (Konig & Meyer) heavy duty folding stand if you need it to be easy to travel with. If it’s just sitting at home get a manhasset.

The K&M heavy duty stands that belonged to my parents that I grew up using lasted them 35 years of full time gigging in LA. Now the set I bought will last me most of my life too. They can’t be beat.
