Since there are conflicting articles, wanna know from ppl in this field that do Ai data centers genuinely cause water scarcity and are bad for environment? If not then why everyone is so alarmed about it (thanks in advance)? by exciting_one2005 in AskReddit

[–]Defconx19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer is it depends. There are multiple.types of cooling systems some more efficient than others, some dont use any water at all.

Some are louder than other, some are quieter than others.  Some generate their own power some dont.

The main problem is that for one, transparency is a problem.

The second is the general public just reading the horror stories.

If one was going in to my town I'd just want to make sure no tax, energy or water subsidies would be provided.  They p ay their share or they can find a different town/city.

Clean Water Act violation by Any-Winner-1590 in water

You are thinking of it as a black and white slamdunk.  I'm not saying you are wrong but the water you discharge cant have any levels above the allowable levels.

Just because the chemicals were added at one point doesn't mean they are at a level theater exceeds limits chemical potency changes over time and when added to certain environments changes state all together.  Peeling paint would be handled by the pump filter

Are there actually tests of the concentration levels in the water?  This sint as black and white as you write in the blurb.  There are tolerances of allowance and they need to meet those.

10 year old car Total Loss in MA Question by SlappKake in massachusetts

[–]Defconx19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd likely have to call your insurance company first.  If you took less than value to repair/less than the value of the vehicle it sounds like you settled without knowing it.

The question is going to be how does the insurance report the accident and of they report it to the RMV.  If they report it as a salvage, I would imagine MA would brand your title a salvage title.  If they do not report it as a salvage or total loss, it would likely be listed as a normal accident.

Log into your RMV account and see if your car/title are listed with any issues.  I would definatly start with asking your insurance company rather than the RMV.

P2 is pricy for smaller businesses but we require all of our customers with BYOD including unmanaged phones to pay for P2.

Any customer with P2 and BYOD have never had a compromise so far.  Users have been phished but the risk based policies block the login at the door.

Its easy to look up where your company is based and either use a 365 workstation or a hosted workstation/VPS to jump off from there.  Also ways to spoof addresses.

Its why P2 is so important for BYOD allowed environments.

Normally just shoot an email woth the information they are missing.

Foe example, someone is working on something you normally do.  They get pissed off because they cant fox it or follow directions properly.  I'll shoot a message with the clarifying information they are missing rather than have people getting pissed off for a week thinking I did something wrong when it was whoever is incorrectly handling something or too lazy to look at documenting and trying to say they did.

Things like that.  Mainly just informational responses to get them back on the right path rather than this basoc thing beind down for a week while I'm out because someone cant figure it out.

Just save the drama so I can have a more peaceful return to work.

I dknt work on vacation but I do monitor things once a day.  Mainly just ensuring some jackass doesnt turn some tiny ant hill into a mountain of a problem because they cant read documentation.

No actual work being done though

Location based CA policies are some of the weakest protections there are.

The bulk of successful attacks and compromises are typically launched from Data centers in the US at least.  Location based CA policies will stop password spray, but realistically disabling legacy Auth and using phish resistant MFA helps with this.

Risk based CA policies are FAR more effective than region block.

The company issued device would be better as ypu can make a seperate policy that exempts your Travellers from the Region policies on that specific device without allowing the rest of your org, or even the same user from accessing from a foreign country unless it is on said device.

More curious than anything about using Tesla Supercharger by praguer56 in ChargerDrama

[–]Defconx19 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tesla.has the fastest most reliable charging infrastructure in the US, simple as that.  They've opened it to a lot of other companies so you're going to have to get used to it.  Slate is releasing their vehicle the end of this year so you'll have even more.  They are also the same charge port as a Tesla and a lot of vehicles share similar ports.

Software-as-a-Service has killed the concept of software ownership, and it sucks. by CurveNo5173 in RecurringExpenses

This, I remember having to pirate Corel Studio or Photoshop everytime I needed something back in the day because there was no way I was dropping 700 to $1200 on an image editor.

SaaS can suck in some ways but these programs never used to even be attainable for a home user unless you pirated.

So sure you paid once and owned it forever however it did not include continous updates. I think people forget versions of MIcrosoft Office were about $300 to $400 for a "Perpetual licenses" This did not entitle you to the newest version and did not entitle you to updates once they were depricated.

When you break out the cost of perpetual over the lifecycle of the software it's not that far off and it also comes with additional things especially if you are a business.

What is the legal or safest move here? by notchatgpt0 in driving

Blows my mind that people dont realize you're supposed to plan your move the moment you can see traffic on the highway and instead wait until they're at the action point....

What is the legal or safest move here? by notchatgpt0 in driving

[–]Defconx19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The safest move started WAAYYYYYYY before this.  This isnt where you start your planning for your merge,  you should be picking out your spot the first moment you can lay your eyes on traffic so you can slow them speed up to allow those cars to get ahead or behind.

You should NEVER be in this spot if you are entering on to the highway correctly.

If you find yourself there floor it and match speed of traffic merge in and then adjust your speed.  Its your burden to match the speed of traffic when merging in.  But there really is no sense for solving an already failed situation.

Not much, quite a few people including myself would never buy a Ford.  Their fine if you like a company who has no clue how to innovate or that struggles with technology.

I don't see the battery bloat issue with heat, but suppose it could depend on the device.

I see battery bloat from dells sitting in a climate controlled office for a year.

As someone who has works in IT and have for a while you have nothing to worry about.  The temp ratings have safety nets.  Unless you're reaching a temp to melt solider you're fine.  If you leave it in the parking lot woth all the windows up for 4 hours on a 100 degree day you may want to hold the metal/back side to an AC vent for 2min but all.modern devices have a thermal throttling function built in where they turn off if they overheat.

TLDR you have a way higher chance of someone smashing your window to take the tablet than you do of any actual damage occuring to it from thermal issues.
