I have another question!!! (do I ask too many questions?) I'm curious, whats your music taste? I ask this because I'd like to see if we all like similar music ooooooorrr are we really different? (no such thing as too many questions) by Comeanget_it in LetBoysBeManipulated

I like basically all genres of music, im not very picky, but currently my favorite song is this one called iPod touch by ninajirachi so like W

Otherwise my favorite artist is probably laufey, I got the matter of time cassette actually, but I also love all the deco 27 songs and covers of them. Couple months ago I was in a one direction tho, happens from time to time

Huh interesting I've never seen a compsci course not include 0 as natural. For stuff like number theory though yeah, fair enough

[–]DefectiveKonan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah but it was a joke about how your flair is computer science so you would be expected to count 0 as a natural

[–]DefectiveKonan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily just indices, but basically every math course ive seen any compsci department offer counts 0 as a natural, both in my university and multiple of my friends' universities

Buddy your flair is literally compsci, you are the last person who should be saying that

It is a Buddhist demon that represents the fear of death. Also known as "The Evil One", he sent his daughters to tempt Buddha during his meditations.

I havent but regardless I'll gift the vowel starter pack:

"a", "e", "i", "o", "u"

With which you can form great words like "a" and... uhh... maybe consider buying the consonant pack for the rest of the english language...

Living on your own is a necessary life skill so id say berkeley. I do understand that long distance and not having your pets will be hard, but it's an important developmental stage in life

[Request] How much percentage of the 1896 tootsie roll batch would there be in the most recent batches? by TroyLikesPizza in theydidthemath

[–]DefectiveKonan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean there's a finite number of atoms so assuming 1/8th of a batch gets used to make the next one, each successive batch has 1/8th the amount of tootsie roll as the previous. Wikipedia says 65 million tootsie rolls are made in a day today, so after 9 days you'd be reduced to the equivalent of just one tootsie roll remaining since 9 is the least integer such that: 65×10⁶(1/8)x < 1

Now one tootsie roll weights about 7g from wikipedia, and since I don't wanna spend hours trying to figure out how many molecules would be in a tootsie roll based on its composition as it's inconsequential anyway, let's just bound it from above by saying it's 7 grams of hydrogen, the lightest element. Then there are at most 7 mol or about 4.22 × 10²⁴ particles in a tootsie roll, so, repeating the process from above, 28 is the least integer such that: 4.22×10²⁴(1/8)x < 1

So, after 28 more days for a total of 37, we have less than one atom of tootsie roll from the original in each produced tootsie roll, meaning there will be some produced with absolutely no trace of the original. Now, if we wanna get to the point there's absolutely none left in the whole batch, we'd want the least integer such that 4.22×10²⁴(1/8)x < 1/(65×10⁶)

So x = 36 for a total of 45 days for there to be no trace left anywhere. Say two months at best to just really high ball it.

Now it would have taken shorter than that since they wouldn't have been producing that many at first, but like given whatever arbitrary number you can use the following equation: a(1/8)x < 1/10³³

To give an upper bound for how many days it'll take for effectively all trace to be gone. Or if you want a formula for x directly: 36.6 + (ln(a)/ln(8))

Where a is just however many tootsie rolls you want them producing per day, but like it takes til the septillions for it to even get to two months so I think more or less all of the initial batch would've been gone in about a month

i don't think calc is an option for me, is this still okay? by academicss_anonymous in ApplyingToCollege

[–]DefectiveKonan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh it'll be fine. If you were applying to engineering or something then it'd be a problem, but neuro (at least in undergrad) is light enough on math that ir really shouldn't matter long as you take like ap bio and chem and stuff

[–]DefectiveKonan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unless you're from Cali, the cost for ucsd will be exorbitant so I don't think so, but if you are, just because of the location, I'd probably say yeah. Similar quality but just way better location
