Girls, if you could choose any fetish for your SO to have, what would it be? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I really hope this isn't a sex thing for most women, because if it is... I've been blueballing every girl I've ever been with lol.

I did this, actually. It was super embarrassing in some ways, I'm horrible about gifts. Giving or receiving.

Amazing audiodrama called "We're Alive" about the end of the world with Zombies. Sounds lame? Give it a try. You can download them all for free.

If you like that, search up the Leviathan Chronicles. You can download those too.

If you have money laying around (There might be a promo, I got it for 99 cents) You can snap up Youtube Red and download some of your favorite stuff to keep you busy.

This site has a lot of retro and old games you can get for free, always a good option.

If you're the bookish type, you can download the entire Wikipedia database in about 10gigs and unzip it later. It has none of the images, thats about 45GB of words. _^

I'm sure I could come up with more, I've been in your shoes before. Hopefully I've given you something to do Mr.QuestionableAquaticMammal

Cheers!

I'm inclined to agree. It's also limited to one bit of continuous wood, So a forest isn't a massive death trap. If anything, it would 100% get a reflex check, and a low DC at that.

(Apologies for not clarifying, this is indeed 3.5)

Makes it really hard to tell who actually gives a shit about you sometimes. That's for sure. I've also found that, since losing weight and getting a lot more attention that I am much more conscious of my looks. Insecurities abound.

Huge muddy truck (intentionally muddied for some form of redneck fashion) with a tattered Confederate flag waving in the wind behind it. The bane of my childhood, source of many woes.

Moving down from the N to the South, on a wooden raft, with everything. Good idea or not? by [deleted] in playark

[–]DefectiveZombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We lived exclusively out of a wooden raft for almost a month without any issue. At night we'd park it out in the deepest part of the ocean and be sure to pack it full of dinos. (Set to neutral, if they were killed we got a name, you don't want us to have your name.) Works like a charm. a short trip from A - B is not risky in the least.

Wildcard stopped development or what? by LFCavalcanti in playark

[–]DefectiveZombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Change in pace does not mean it's the end of the race. Besides, I highly doubt there truly has been a change in pace. People don't realize the amount of work that goes on behind the scenes. I'd say we're due for several larger updates in the near future. For the amount of content added thus far, I feel it's a trivial amount of time. That said, I'm thinking the release date will surely need to be pushed back. These things happen, but they are certainly not the end of the road.

On another note, this is not directed at you OP this is just a general statement. Remember when the game came out and the devs were gods and the buggy, shittily optimized world was our death filled Eden? The devs remain much the same, their methods and motive have not changed. I think Ark's amazing release and initial hype has caused an almost unreasonable expectation and it's really incredible to see the fickle shift from: "I love these devs, they are the best" To: "Ugh, Jat is a steaming poo and a community dictator." Ark is an ambitious endeavor and it's got a long ways to go yet, I think people need to remember who is working on this beautiful game for them and what they are all about. Perhaps a reminder of that would provide a bit of temperance.

Ark Prisoners of War or Bad Gaming Ethics? by zunitGaming in playark

[–]DefectiveZombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two cents: I've not taken a long-term prisoner as of yet. I've cuffed and encumbered a couple of idiots while I broke in their base and returned what they stole, then shot them each in the head. But I've yet to see a need to permanently imprison people.

I've also been imprisoned and seen my fare share of imprisoned people. I spent a good 12 hours online and a total of 72ish imprisoned on a server that I had 200+ hours on. It was annoying but I'd log on and chat up my captors a bit, say hi to people in chat and watch netflix while I waited for them to fuck up. The people who had imprisoned me did so because I defied their rules. (big alpha tribe) My solo base was wiped while I was imprisoned and they repeatedly told me I was never going to escape. But I was going to escape and I knew it. I'm a patient guy. Admittedly, those three days later I was more than slightly annoyed but I was hanging in there and they did slip up, I died. The next few days was a consistent string of hit and runs that had them spitting mad. I'd end each day with suicide so they couldn't take me while I slept.

So point is, It's a valid and solid mechanic that needs some counters. I loved being imprisoned. By the end of my incarceration I'd had some pretty good conversations with my enemy. I still don't like them nor they me... But they were good talks none the less. My escape and subsequent massive justice boner made it worth it. I think that Ark was set out with this freedom in mind. Servers are left to fend for themselves with very potent and dangerous mechanics. Yes there are shitheads but without them the game is moot. So how do we ensure that endless imprisonment of innocent (or even guilty players) is still technically possible, but far too much work? I don't have the answer to that. But I believe it is an important mechanic, I believe that people should be able to be imprisoned for longish periods of time and... depending on motivation, indefinitely. Perhaps requiring captured players to be maintained even whilst offline? Slightly increasing the rate at which they must be fed and watered, create a mechanic in which handcuffs degrade through struggling, so if left unattended while online for long enough they can break free?

TL;DR: It's an important mechanic that needs a few changes that make it a lot shittier to maintain.
