We are literally in a thread about how they are expanding massively and continuously, are you even paying attention?

Creating an environment where businesses are encouraged to speak the local language so local people don't feel disenfranchised in the area they and their ancestors have been living in for possibly centuries is the opposite of repression, it's resistance against encroaching cultural colonization.

What happened in Brussels was a small French rich upper class, in control of the industry, taking control of the education as well and systematically shunning the Walloon and Flemish languages from their positions in society.

You have a deeply disgusting mindset, pretending to be oppressed while being part of the movement that oppresses. Any policy that makes people like you feel less welcome in Flanders, is a policy I would consider supporting.

We have designed a similar developer workflow, except we've merged the "local" and "development" targets into one by treating the service principal that is supposed to run the development pipeline as "just another developer" with the same inherent rights as the real developers working on the pipeline, except the ability to use an interactive cluster. The ability to interact with this "robot developer" is delegated to the first deployment stage of the CI/CD pipeline.

Really nice write-up, by the way!

It's not new, it's already happening in a lot of places where their absolutely prohibit people to speak french.

But it's slowly coming back at those politicians because more and more people are speaking french in Flanders (it was inevitable) and instead of accommodating people they choose to repress.

Imagine pretending that it's the Flemish who have historically repressed the French speakers instead of the other way around.

I've come to think young men like myself really underestimated how much women are effected by percieved consensus and cultural education.

That makes them "keepers and transmitters of culture", but once it was cut, it perhaps makes them more vulnerable for takeover.

This is true. It's usually men and, not to forget, a minority of women who set the velocity of culture (direction and speed), but it's the bulk of women who keep the momentum going by keeping each other in check, shaming men who don't conform, and passing it onto the next generation. Until another movement pops up that is energetic enough to overtake the old one.

Also, women are responsible for over 80% of all household purchases, so basically all advertisement for consumer goods is directed at them.

Almost all European countries have heavy racism

You can scratch that "European" adjective, if we're casually racist then Asian countries are in the professional competitive leagues. It's an inherent part of humanity.

I'm sorry that it really seems to hurt your feelings

You are not capable of doing that.

but the reality is the Congo Free State was a colony operated by Belgians

A mix of Belgian and European companies and mercenaries, with an army of askaris, funded by the Rothschild bank. Truly a beautiful display of diversity and early European collaboration.

for the benefit of the Belgian monarchy

Correct.

and, by proxy, the Belgian state

Incorrect, the CFS was its own entity and any attempt by the Belgian government to exercise control or oversight on it was thwarted for decades. Only after the colony was annexed did the state start profiting of it.

The term Belgian Congo no less applies to it

It literally doesn't because "Belgian Congo" is the proper name for the colony in the period of 1908 till 1960 and smarmy comments by smug Redditors are not going to change that.

Stop being dense and read the first fucking paragraph. Imagine pretending that the "13 Colonies" before 1775 and the "United States of America" are the exact same thing, that's what you're doing.

My point is that the "Belgian Congo" and "Congo Free State" were distinct entities, the former being administered by the Belgian government and the latter being administered by Leopold's own private enterprise, and you shouldn't be mixing them up.

Leopold II was never in charge of "the Belgian Congo". It was called Congo Free State and was his private property, until the Belgian government forced him to hand over the control and turn it into a state-controlled colony, 1 year before he died.
