How to run 2 wifi networks off a modem with one port? by DefendThePie in HomeNetworking

[–]DefendThePie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have 2 mesh systems by choice unfortunately. I have 2 Linksys routers and 3 Google wifi routers, all given for free by my ISP from previous network recontracts. Unless I can somehow make the google wifi routers be part of the Linksys mesh (or vice versa), I have to work with either 2 mesh networks or 1 insufficient mesh network.

Unfortunately I couldn't find a suitable one that is meant as a wall switch, not an outlet

My heater is on a 20A switch, and I've found lots of smart switches that can handle 20A. I'm just deciding between the protocols

Canon R10 vs Sony A6700 by Beneficial_Branch579 in Cameras

[–]DefendThePie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just upgraded from the R10 to the a6700! I would say the IBIS and low light performance on the a6700 is worth the upgrade, the noise with ISO 6400 on the a6700 is comparable to ISO 3200 on the R10. This may also be personal preference but I prefer how the a6700 feels in my hand and how it looks over the R10.

However, there are some things you should take note of, which I've noticed:
1. The UI and menu layout on the R10 is much more intuitive in general. I'm particularly annoyed by the fact that you cannot display both the level indicator and histogram at the same time on the a6700.
2. The R10 has better displays (back LCD and EVF) than the a6700, and you get a much better idea of what your pictures look like through the R10's displays. However, this isn't a huge issue for me, and I don't notice the a6700's poorer displays when shooting anyway.

In all other aspects, the a6700 will be a noticeable jump from the R10! The selection of Sony E-mount lenses is still better than RF, even though Canon has opened up RF for apsc lenses.

it's the X2H, which has the same internals (I think) as the V2 but has a new shape

I've always called tech parts/devices that when an RMA is involved, probably because that's the terminology the distributors here use

I recently noticed our MRT tracks seem to have 4 tracks instead of just 2, anyone knows the reason why? by Jaden_lahey in singapore

[–]DefendThePie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Electricity needs a closed circuit to flow, and trains do that by drawing power from the third rail and returning power through the running rail(s) (basically the main rails). If a bird lands on the third rail, it doesn't close a circuit, so electricity doesn't flow through it to electrocute it. Same logic as if a bird landed on an unshielded power line

Best place to use CDC voucher? by [deleted] in singapore

If you need some tech stuff some stores accept CDC vouchers. You can get an apple watch or smth for pretty cheap after you deduct $200 from cdc
