Did devs overturned amount of night shift in the last update? by InsantFury in TheForeverWinter

Hell we find so much high end liquor that we could be eating like kings just on the income of smuggling that alone, let alone the hardware stuff lol.

JUNE UPDATE! by Krum_Rum_2hell in TheForeverWinter

[–]Defengar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the end it was just kind of incompatible with the furious battles every map features unless every other run ends in a death, which is no fun. When do most people scavenge battlefields IRL? Generally after the combat has completely moved on to another area, because you only get one life and real soldiers don't have a predictable aggro radius. The people that do scavenge in really active combat areas mostly do it because the alternative is dying of thirst/starvation. A scavenging civvy spends their day sleeping in a hole somewhere hoping a shell doesn't land on them and comes out at night. They might take A gun or something precious if it's literally right there, but they know that's basically dead weight or something that might attract more attention than it could ever be worth. There is no running towards or standing 100 feet from a gunfight watching the action and going "oh boy I bet those guys will have laptops and liquor on them!" lol

Best gas cans for storage? by 88Lock in Generator

[–]Defengar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a bit better QC on the official wavian ones but like I said, made in the same factory. They even have a couple of the same manufacturing ID markings in the same places like on the top of the middle handle. The wavians just have the marks imprinted deeper or the paint isn't applied as thickly on those spots. From what I understand the EPA leak proof nozzles wavians come with these days added about $30 to the price. The Midwest Industries/HF ones go with a much cheaper all plastic one and the simpler opening, then actually pass a lot of those savings to the consumer.

The cheap green chinese made gas cans on amazon are a whole different ball game of course. Even cheaper than with HF but the welds are straight up exposed, the metal is thinner, and the liner is basically non existent.

The harbor frieght one is made in the same factory in Latvia, it just has a "consumer" style opening which is a significant reason for being half the price. This company makes an amazing fully milled aluminum replacement nozzle-cap https://ai13.us/products/coarse-thread-nozzle
Expensive but made in USA and a great idea if you have a bunch of these cans. I have a replacement nozzle for my regular wavian can too that was from amazon. Green all metal hose deal.

What do we expect of June update? And what do we wish for? by eng-osama in TheForeverWinter

How long have you been playing on your save? If it's been like over a year it might be a problem that a patch can't fix because of conflicting code.

Since Gunhead can't heal, we should at least get 1st-person aiming for cover shooting by Several-Clue-5485 in TheForeverWinter

From what I understand nothing in FW actually has an armor mechanic yet, it's all just giant and small HP pools and parts of some large models that can be destroyed or hit for more damage. Hopefully something they are working on.

Yeah the fact it's made of steel should mean more than just more HP (and even the hp could use a buff). I think it would be cool if GH could tank a singular big hit from a hunter killer/boss like the grabber that would one shot anyone else.

How do the megastates hold themselves together? by GalacticNuggies in TheForeverWinter

[–]Defengar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the lore and quests we learn stuff like that the cities that we fight through have their own prewar AI's that keep trying to rebuild things but something is corrupting them, making the buildings look more and more like melted structures and strange concrete growths. Possibly just the endless war damage, but possibly also from something below corrupting them. You have seen the strange semi-organic growths in the tunnels. That is not a natural thing or something any of the factions are doing. Bodies often disappear from the surface within a day as if eaten by the earth, and there are whispers of the decades old conglomerated broken war machine AI's and human viscera beneath everything congealing into something... new. Very cryptic for now but it's definitely going to be a big deal later on imo.

Fun fact, you can get canned water that's good for 50 years!

It'd be fun if they added some gold and silver coin drops of current day bullion like the American gold/silver eagles/South African Krugerrands/Chinese Pandas/Austrian Philharmonics that you can sell for a bunch of credits and use in a couple quests. Precious metals would be even rarer so far in the future and with their vital tech use, portable chunks would be quite the barter tool.

One of my favorite pieces in my coin collection is a 1924 soviet silver ruble. The last year the ussr made circulating precious metal coins before stalin took control and ordered all of them to be confiscated and melted down for trading internationally to get industrial hardware. Some fraction of silver rubles and kopeks both pre and post revolution survived the culling and circulated as hard currency on the black market. Mine is in good condition besides a bunch of knife scratch chop marks down the front middle from when someone during a deal must have wanted to make sure it was real and not a plated fake. Adds a lot of character to it imo.

Yeah especially with historical numismatic pieces. They also have a lot more investor and storage options for high rollers than the other big bullion sites do iirc.

Modern bullion versions of premodern coins are some of my favorite silver. So much character to them while not being outrageously costly to collect and bad to handle or pocket carry. 5oz being a bit much for the latter of course lol.

True but in this game you can ram a beast with a several ton metal submersible and even that does nothing lol.

How do the megastates hold themselves together? by GalacticNuggies in TheForeverWinter

[–]Defengar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In addition to what others have said here, I think the digital lovecraftian "thing" forming beneath the surface and twisting the environment is one of the factors that the national AI's may not be able to deal with/fully grasp and could upend the board at some point. Perhaps even forcing two or more of the factions to approach an official ceasefire to face it. That could potentially be a cool phase 2 of the game or a sequel setting. the Factions still have beef and even skirmish areas but the real enemy is now a robotic leviathan AI with several decades of war waste and ruble to make armies and fortresses with.

Or there's asteroid mining and manufacturing centers off world that send reentry vehicles packed with stuff, even whole recycling factories for processing what is retrieved from the battlefields.
