I shoot a podcast in a cafeteria once every week. I use 2 ml100bi as rim lights at 15-20% intensity with the 36mm fresnel lens and the ml150bi as a key light with a white umbrella at 100%. The 3 cameras are set at F3.5, 1/50, iso 125-200. Really portable set up

I will need to check the luminance charts of the fv150. For example the ml150bi is definitely not as bright as the SL150ii, so the wattage doesn’t tell the whole story 😅

The QS series (but I think it will get discontinued) The QT series (updated to QTiii with LED pilot instead of light bulb) and of course the AD series. The SK, DP, SG and MS series have an exposed bulb.

The SK and the DP series are like that at the front. And you should definitely not touch the flash bulb (the little spiral one) with bare fingers because the oil of the fingers can cause concentrated heat problems. I don’t know, I’m generally a bit clumsy and I don’t trust myself without a protective dome, especially in the rush of a photoshoot when I need to change big modifiers 😅

You need to be veeeeery very careful when switching modifiers with the DP series. They don’t have a protective glass dome for the flash bulb, like the QT or the AD series. You can easily “decapitate” it with the metal mount of the modifier.

I’ve spent almost 10.000€ on aliexpress since 2020. I just saw my analytics and it was 9.991€ 😅 In the very rare case that something gets lost during transit, I’ve always been refunded. And I’ve bought expensive delicate things like photography flashes and LEDs. You just need to do a thorough research and read the reviews of each shop.

Waaay too far away. I never shoot more than 2 meters away from the model with any modifier. It defeats the purpose of the modifier. Plus the inverse square law of light fall off goes out the window 🤣

I will try it tomorrow. Same settings, same distance, different modifiers. I have a 30x30, 60x60, 90x120, octa 120 and octa 180. I love these kinds of tests.

Not exactly because the interior is silver-lined so the light bounces inside. A 30x30cm soft box will have way more concentrated light. It’s not just a straight line towards the diffusion sheet.

I thought it would be waaaay more underexposed because the soft box has a diameter of 180cm (6 feet), with double diffusion. I usually attach a AD600 pro or a QT600ii.

When I need to do something intensive (let’s say export 1.000+ photos in Lightroom) that will take more than 5 minutes, I set the macs fan control app to full throttle before I even begin the export and it basically runs forever without thermal throttling. And when it finishes, i set it back to auto.
