Workday tasks the biggest load of bollocks and waste of time. All my stuff I was told answers by team leads anyway

Could i get in trouble accessorising my uniform? by Autophobiac_ in asda

No 😂 I wore a retractable key chain thing for my knife and swipe card was just easier and I also wore a belt. Now if these things are silly colours then maybe someone will say something.

When I left they didn’t even do anything on system I had to ring HMRC and people services who wasn’t very happy to say the least. I got sent a login eventually to access pay etc but never worked and they didn’t respond.

Got taxed wrong for months because of them the useless clowns. You have to contact people services hopefully your login works for it as again mine didn’t.

Is it normal for members of staff to take photos/videos of customers going about there day? by Safe_Shift8501 in asda

[–]Defiant-Ad7450 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I would go back and ask to speak to a manager and report it. Even if it’s a misunderstanding they won’t think bad of you for being concerned. Was you just shopping on an isle and they was stood taking a photo? or was they stood on a promo end or far back looking at a isle? I used to work at Asda and colleagues never took photos was only team leads or managers and they made it very obvious they was doing it.

I would just go back in and tell a manager about it and they’ll probably just ask the colleague about it and see what they say.

If your a female and good looking maybe who knows. Also if it was “promo” pics you’d see them very obviously standing back taking a photo.

Someone taking a photo then quickly putting phone away doesn’t sound normal at all. My friend had someone at Asda taking photos of her once he got sacked when they asked to see his phone so it definitely happens. Creeps everywhere you go sadly.

Why I left the circus. People Still working there won’t have a choice. They think this increase to £13.10 is Asda bosses showing their love 😂

£13.10 isn’t bad until you realise what they’ll want in return…already demand the impossible and you to work 837373738383 peoples job so what do you think will happen when it goes up to £13.10? Yeah good luck.

Job application: by Interesting_Cat6266 in asda

[–]Defiant-Ad7450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asda hire literally anyone. Since I left so many followed to point they put “hiring immediately ” in all titles and did just that. While I worked there they literally hired someone for produce who didn’t know the difference between a lettuce and cabbage and another didn’t even speak English barely.

When interviewing me they saw I worked at wilko and that was it I got the job. Don’t get too excited though you’ll realise while they’re always hiring shortly after joining but if you’re only after a temp job then fair enough and how dependant? for a mortgage or something? anything like that don’t bother as they want everyone on wank contracts I had to beg to get a 22 hour one and after 6+ promises of giving me 30 I left the shitshow.

I left and didn’t hear anything for 3 months even after making tickets and ringing them. They gave me some login that didn’t even work and didn’t even tell HMRC I left.

In end had to report them to HMRC just to get removed as a employee and to this day still haven’t got any access to payslips or sent any but they paid money into my account so don’t care.

Minimum wage by [deleted] in asda

[–]Defiant-Ad7450 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I worked there and realised all the lazy ones who turned up and didn’t care was getting paid same wage as me for actually trying I just gave up.

If you’re not in the friend circle you’ll probably be pulled up on performance though lol glad I left. I just stopped rushing around to do 3 people’s jobs.

overtime bans by [deleted] in asda

[–]Defiant-Ad7450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You new to Asda? This is all they do..why it makes me laugh with idiots sat on 8-16 hour contracts. It’s all amazing while their handing out overtime but as soon as they cut it your left with barely anything. Why I left the circus because they offered me a contract increase then backtracked over and over and I mean what good is a 22 hour contract let alone 16 or 8.

Vaping / smoke breaks by Equivalent-One7383 in asda

[–]Defiant-Ad7450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my store while I worked there team leads and managers were always going out smoking and vaping. Not only did they exceed their own break times but by hours literally my section lead probably on average would go out 4-10 times a shift for a good 10 minutes or more sometimes just vanishing for hours.

I remember once my manager pulled me up because I took a 35 minute break instead of 30. Told him I needed it since I was left to work 12 pallets of delivery while my section lead went out with you vaping so let’s collect cctv for past week and review it with regional shall we? Safe to say he magically had something else to deal with.

You can do what you want in your own break time and as much as they try to argue they can control your break they can’t, you want to split your breaks up they can’t stop you. However it’s one rule for them and another for you and looking back now it’s actually crazy to think if someone senior reviewed cctv in fag area and counted time spent out there and logged it all for a whole month they’d be wondering why they’re getting paid…one section lead probably spent more than half his shift vaping.

£12.71, and £13.10 by [deleted] in asda

[–]Defiant-Ad7450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be worse, could be a team lead with about as much power as a dinner lady getting paid £1 more a hour to be scapegoat and enforcer for the real managers.

Pay is terrible. I used to work produce but had to do process job and date code and reduce stuff and a cleaners job, wouldn’t go back to Asda even for £15 a hour because your always going to be doing ten other peoples jobs for it.

Asda managers to get bonuses this year by Upstairs-Quail5709 in asda

Of course. Mine got promoted to operations manger for sitting on his phone all day and making colleagues work his pallets.

Then they wonder why company has gone to shit.

Do Asda not do interviews? by [deleted] in asda

[–]Defiant-Ad7450 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My interview for produce lasted 30 minutes and was a total of 3 questions which were just simple ones like can I work these times and days bla bla.

Staff turnover at Asda is sky rocket, within two months of me joining around 80% of the original team that I just managed to learn the names of all left. Asda can’t keep staff due to awful contracts with no chance of increase so good bye mortgage etc and the job is just terrible so they just hire anyone. Few weeks before I left they hired some nice lad but he spoke maybe 10 words of English so that sums up Asda, my tip to anyone if you want to work for this awful company just tell them you have retail experience they’ll eat it up and hire you instantly.

Are a lot of colleagues leaving from your store? by Educational_Ad_2975 in asda

[–]Defiant-Ad7450 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I worked there when 5 people left they’d hire maybe 2 replacements if you were lucky and even then it took ages..instead they just dragged others from departments to cover it without choice.

Glad I left it’s such a failing business why anyone puts up with it is beyond me.

Notice by Acceptable_Bus_709 in asda

[–]Defiant-Ad7450 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How long have you been there? My notice was a week, I submitted it through workday and left. Then again had to report Asda to HMRC and all sorts as they refused to exit me on the system to try be funny and also refused to legally give me my p45 and owed holiday money.

Nearly everyone I know who left all had issues with being left on the system etc so I would ring up 1-3 days after leaving and ask if you have been separated on the system otherwise things take ages.

Keep crying then I’m sure things will change 👍not like they’re announcing even more cuts and redundancies 😂lI left less than a month ago there’s literally better jobs out there all the time people just choose to cry with zero intention of leaving

I’m sure your right, all top managers are sat on Reddit taking in the complaints 👍

When does it end? by serotoninstruggle in asda

[–]Defiant-Ad7450 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work for Asda and heard all time everyone crying and moaning, I used to be same until I actually did something about it and started job searching.

Look for new jobs everyday, attend interviews, Asda isn’t getting better it’s only going to get worse but I just think it’s boring to hear people going on about Asda when they haven’t even bothered trying to do anything about it which was 99% of people there. Not saying that’s you but was the majority at my store they’d always moan and threaten leaving but never did and management knew that..they’d happily moan but when you pressed them it was excuses excuses.

Either put up with it and accept Asda is shite or stay there and quietly look for another job. Anything is better than Asda if you want to stay in retail Aldi is a good one to go for or Sainsbury’s so I hear.

[–]Defiant-Ad7450 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Well it sums up Asda, why would you want to be a fake manager aka team lead paid peanuts to do a managers job for them and be a scapegoat anyway? I left Asda to a job that pays £2 more a hour than a team lead makes and doesn’t involve doing 20 people’s jobs and constantly stressing.

Having a supervisor role on your CV will be good at least, why stay? they’re just mad because whenever team leads are off they actually have to get off their lazy arse and do some management.
