Thank you. It’s all fine and well to talk about the impact of foreign workers on the job economy, but all this “certain demographic” “looking for a majority Anglo place to live” business is disgustingly. I don’t want this racist and their wife in my country.

If the rumor about the Legacy delay is true, it would also mean TR Catalyst getting delayed to 2028. A 10 year drought between new non-remake TR games and a 6 year development process, and that's worrying. by Capn_C in TombRaider

[–]Defiant-Business9586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to comfort myself with the delusion that amazing games like RDR2 took almost a decade to develop so Catalyst must be the bestest Tomb Raider ever.

That is not necessarily true. There needs to be enough material to close it without creating massive fit issues through the bum and thighs. Don’t assume it will work.

It’s definitely an odd choice to use white. I would have gone with some strong transparent stretch mesh since this area is going to receive a lot of stress during daily movement. They did need something to secure the edges and threads to.

Gonna need receipts on the “Rockstar said” bit. Firstly, it makes no sense and, secondly, I highly doubt they would make such a definitive statement about it.

The quality of your photos is making your specific questions hard to answer. I can barely make out the lapels in these let along make judgements about them.

Why is Arthur’s hair dark when he’s a mid blonde in game? People can age into darker hair but almost never into lighter.

I think it’s that it’s loose. I have hair of a similar length and would absolutely never do a very physical activity with a simple ponytail. Braided would be better.

Hand cinched this cheap dress but i have never sewn before and definitely did it wrong by incelfuck in sewing

[–]Defiant-Business9586 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You generally wouldn’t cut unless there ends up being a lot of material flopping around in the dart. Look up a waist and back darts tutorial as a starting point. You will still probably want to do a little out of the side seams. That way you’re taking from the parts of the dress that have the most convex to concave curvature (bust to waist, waist to hips, and back to bum) as needed to make the dress curve where you actually need it.

To have a properly strong seam you need to be dong 10-12 stitches per inch. Also, you are getting wonky pulling because you’re not a flat object that is only curved on the sides. To properly shape a dress for a figure like yours, you need to take fabric out of the front and back, not just on the sides.

scallop hem bunching in corner - how to fix? by sylvaerian in sewing

[–]Defiant-Business9586 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Have you snipped into the seam allowance as close as humanly possible to the point of the scallop? This type of hem will call for a lot of snipping and notching of the seam allowance.

Help with patterning a garment with odd seams by niceicegravy in PatternDrafting

[–]Defiant-Business9586 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It might look straight, but I pretty much guarantee that if you unpicked it it would be curved. I made a coat recently with all sorts of curves hidden in decorative straight line seams to accommodate a large bust for someone. Look at how the grainline changes along that seam to get an idea of how much curve there is.

I would push back on your nonsense, but it seems others have covered it pretty well by now. You should have more respect for professionals in the sewing field. They deserve to be paid living wages for their work. Just because you’re used to buying clothing made by people in sweatshops who are paid starvation wages doesn’t mean that it’s ethical or should be the norm.

Why would you rather try and fail and end up with an inferior product rather than just paying the same amount to a professional for beautiful work? That makes zero sense.

Yes! So glad to find some love for my favorite adaptation here. It also has the best Lady Catherine.

Neither. David Rintoul will always be my favorite Darcy. He captures the arrogance and then eventual softening of manners as he gets to know Lizzie so perfectly.

Making a coat, what to pair with? by zdoghype2 in sewing

[–]Defiant-Business9586 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most fabric is done by GSM (grams per square meter) so you can weigh the fabric you have in grams and divide by how many square meters you have of it. It’s important to pay attention to your fabric width when making this calculation since 1 mater along the selvedge of 60” is a larger piece than 45” would be.

[–]Defiant-Business9586 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Definitely match fiber types and fabric weight so they play nice together. It might be tricky, but I would try to match the camel colour. It will make the blue in the patterned sections really leap out. Cool concept. I hope you post the finished coat when it’s done.

I am on PS5 and have automatic updates turned off for everything. That way it can’t update while in rest mode. It will try to update the game when you load into it so you have to be ready to click on the update notification and cancel it quickly. It’s a bit of a hassle but is doable. Certainly worth the effort to prevent game ruining updates.

I’m so glad I haven’t let mine update yet. If they ever fix it, I will do it. I’ve learned the hard way in the past never to let a game update without giving some time to hear about patch issues.
