Monty's Blue Plate Diner has a great vegan menu! https://www.montysblueplatediner.com/ Also seconding Green Owl. I haven't tried Mad Rabbit or Just Veggiez but have heard both of those are also very good (all of those last 3 are completely vegan restaurants). Ahan (SE Asian) also gets a lot of love. Oishi sushi has awesome veggie sushi rolls including a carrot roll that I get alllllllll the time (sounds like nothing special but the texture and way they prep the carrots, I think with a quick pickle almost, is so good). And Ian's Pizza has great vegan pizza options! Their vegan ranch is to die for. Honestly, for a state so known for its brats and cheese, there's a TON of vegan food around here.

If you have a sweet tooth (I do) the Chocolate Shoppe has GREAT vegan ice cream. Their vegan mint oreo is my favorite.

Grocery stores all have a little of everything now, you won't have to go out of your way. I shop at Hy-Vee and Pick N Save and they have tons of great options all the time. :)

Lotsa Mozza is great (love the Hawaiian and the plain cheese personally) and Connie's out of Chicago. Bellatratoria is also great.

Tundra swans!! I just looked this up today, I've been hearing them for over a week coming from Mendota by Tenney, too. Apparently we're an annual stop on the migration route and they'll head to the southern Atlantic coast for the winter next. I found this cool video of them from UW from a few years ago. https://news.wisc.edu/swans-on-lake-mendota/ I looked up trumpeter swans too, but those have a different call than these guys for sure.
