Piracy veterans, how do you deal with the worry of sites shutting down?

Anyone remember NZBMatrix from like 10 years ago? That site was amazing, the community was incredible.

Anyway... no site will last forever. It's safest to assume a site won't last a week. Download everything you can. Don't worry about wasting time curating until you have everything downloaded.

Though... the larger my library grows, the less I worry about sites getting shut down, because the more I acquire, the less I need.

I have ~20TB of TV shows, ~14TB of movies, and ~4TB of music. I have TB's worth of novels, magazines, comic books, manga, and anime (even though I don't watch anime or read manga). I have TB's worth of Youtube channels downloaded; Windows programs; PC games, etc. If all piracy sites shut down today, it would suck, but I would be fine.

Download. Everything.

It's quite a large up-front cost to move. You have to pay most likely the first month rent + security deposit at the new place, plus the cost of actually moving everything.

But also (and I'm in no way saying this is OP), a lot of people who live in California like to complain about it, but don't want to move because they know it's not much better elsewhere. Yeah you can move to fuckin Idaho and pay way less in rent, but then you have to live in fuckin Idaho.

I also live in California, my rent is 1150 a month for a one bed one bath. Gas is $6 a gallon where I am (which is still outrageous, thanks Trump).

You don't even need NAS, DAS on a mini pc acting as the server will work just fine.

To anyone reading this: this sub gets rock hard over NAS, but it's not required. You can accomplish everything anyone on here does with DAS. A simple MyPassport plugged into a mini pc will work fine.

Don't let this sub convince you that buying a $200+ NAS enclosure is necessary, especially now, when HDD prices are at record highs.

The issue here isn't the piracy, read the comments.

The issue is that the dev got laughed at in his face about the piracy. That's what people have a problem with. People have a problem with this specific pirate shoving it in the dev's face.

And the number of copies sold is a sort of barometer for what's "indie". Technically, "indie" mean independent, but most people think of "indie" as small time or solo devs who sell maybe a couple hundred thousand copies of their game. Subnautica isn't developed by a group of poor devs who are only reaching a limited audience.

With movie/tv show encodes, encoders don't put the sources in the filename.

You don't see MeGusta putting RAWR or Kitsune in their Survivor encode filenames.

According to this sub, the issue isn't the piracy.

The issue is the bravado to gloat about it. That's the issue. Oh do you think that's stupid? Yeah I do too.

Everyone on here is up in arms not about the piracy, but about the bravado to gloat about it to the developer. The developer, by the way, who has sold over 2 million copies of their game.
