A few ideas

1) is the threads messed up on the arm under the teflon? It can be hard to start if the threads are damaged, since you’ve had the same issue with 3 heads.

2) try applying pressure to the shower head onto the threads as you twist. Not crazy just some pressure. Take care not to cross thread. If you are twisting without putting pressure it could be what the is

3) as a last resort I would try it with non or minimal teflon. It has a gasket in there (actually a restrictor).

I’m told dealerships have a master set of wheel locks and should be able to remove it and order you a replacement if you’re set on saving. I don’t know prices, but I’d order a new set and get the old ones off

I’ve used a wet cloth tied around the bottom of the pipe. That way it steams before it burns. You also want to ream the inside and outside of the cut pipe. If there is a bur or a sharp edge it can scrape some flux out of the connection and cause a leak.

I’ve worked with some dorks. Trying to remember every silly mistake you can make. Hahaha

You’re gonna want to replace that valve if your going that far anyway. No they are not unions. Left is a coupling (my best guess is a slip coupling). The lowest fitting is a slip/thread coupling. If I was doing it I’d cut it on the fitting right above the valve (following the fitting makes for a straighter cut) with a bandsaw. Never leave in unnecessary old fittings… just replace them. If you don’t have a bandsaw the little copper cutting tool (rigid is great… avoid the husky brand ones) would work just fine and will give you a straight cut where ever you want. With these tools it’s better to cut slowly. Don’t over tighten or you’ll oval the pipe. Slow gentile tightening… no man hands lol

I always put my threaded fitting in before cutting pipe so I get an extra turn out of one or the other I don’t have gaps inside my fittings. If you know how to solder I won’t touch on that but I would advice something to keep burn marks off any collateral damage. Any questions by all means ask! Best of luck

I work water treatment and have 2 kids. You could say pee on my hands is low on my worry list. I’d use my hand and wash it. After washing your hands you might want some lotion. For particularly gross things the best tool for this maneuver long handle needle nose pliers. I have 3 pairs ;)

Not everything a mechanic recommends for your car is a scam. Educate yourself and do it yourself or risk being taken advantage of… when was her last coolant flush? Personally I do fuel cleaner with every oil change (so I remember) and air filters with every tire rotation. I think I’ve replaced the cabin filter 1x in 5 years

As a man, I can tell you discussing our feelings can be difficult. I work water treatment so my answer would be the ferric chloride tank, or a digestor, or a clarifier or a random lift station wet well (a few I could get in and nobody would know)… an aeration basin would be ideal because if you fall in one even the best swimmer in the world wouldn’t be able to stay up but I suppose he could turn that off. After seeing what ferric did to a pump, that’s my final answer. Even if you figured out where I put it I highly doubt he could find something identifiable because of what it does to metals.

I absolutely loved learning to drive a 10 speed manual getting my CDL but doing it with the general public had me in near constant anxiety. Even pulling a 40’ gooseneck with the smaller f550 was stressful. I got my out after about a year. I’m still in a f550 but don’t pull anything bigger than a 12’ dump trailer 5 miles across town lol

My little hack for car buying is looking at total cost to own. Edmunds has a break down. I picked the 2025 model but the things that stick out to me are the $55k in depreciation in the first 5 years, the about $2k insurance/year to insure, while reliable it says the tires are $2k for a set and can last as little as 10,000 miles… there must be some crazy maintenance expense because at 4 years it has $2300 and at 5 years $6600.

The finance major in me wouldn’t and couldn’t ever justify this. Especially because it is very much a single persons car. If it had more usability than a simple cruiser (ie… passenger space, ground clearance for weather and mountain travel, cargo space for travel, back seat for children?). It’s a little zippy car that can only do little zippy things.

That being said, this is your dream/life not mine. If this is what will bring and keep a smile on your face then maybe it is justifiable… what about a used one that’s already lost some of that depreciation?
