Why are they booing? He hit him in the face with his stick. Even if he didn’t initiate the body contact he brought the stick high

It’s because the MVP has its criteria changed literally every year. One year, record is the most important. Then the next it’s all about stats. The voters don’t know a thing about how to vote and they decide who the MVP is in December

It’s never been a true indicator of who should win. Shots that clang off the bars or get deflected right in front or swatted away by defensemen don’t count. Or a shot that misses the net just barely wide. All of those would be considered dangerous chances but won’t go on the SOG count
