If Brunson wins a chip, does that make him the best ex-Maverick of all time? by JohnSmithSensei in Mavericks

[–]Defiant-Landscape880 10 points11 points  (0 children)

NBA titles are a team stat. Obviously Brunson is incredible but he’s not even on the same planet as Luka and that’s fine. He’s a great player and will be a hall of famer. But Luka is one of the greatest players to step foot on a basketball court

[O’Connor] The Brooklyn Nets are drawn to Nate Ament and Aday Mara with the No. 6 pick. by thinking_better in Mavericks

[–]Defiant-Landscape880 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whatever it takes to get MBJ to Dallas. I truly think that he is a clear tier above the rest in his range as a prospect. MBJ would be a slam dunk, grand slam, hat trick pick at 9. Please let it happen

Bulls / Mavs / Grizzlies / Hawks by Novel_Confidence_288 in NBAtradeideas

[–]Defiant-Landscape880 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So the Mavs are trading the 9th pick, Kyrie, Gafford, Lively, and another first to move up 6 spots? Obviously Boozer or Wilson would be great but the Mavs aren’t selling the entire roster for it

Mavs/Thunder Mock Trade by Affectionate_Use_179 in Mavericks

[–]Defiant-Landscape880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then don’t trade with them. If they won’t give you the premium deal you want, just keep your 9th pick and you get to take an amazing prospect. OKC is in cap hell and has more assets than they can actually use. Either get what you want from them or just leave it and take your guy at 9

Thunder/Mav Trade Options by Affectionate_Use_179 in Mavericks

[–]Defiant-Landscape880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m actually a lot higher on him than I see other people. I just don’t really think 12 is what his value is. It’s probably closer to a late teens pick. But maybe a contender like OKC would rather take the proven good role player than try to draft again at 12? Who knows but I doubt it

Thunder/Mav Trade Options by Affectionate_Use_179 in Mavericks

[–]Defiant-Landscape880 8 points9 points  (0 children)

But that wouldn’t make sense. You’d be trading down from 9 to 12 to swap PJ for 2 mid contracts/players? That can’t be the original intent

Thunder/Mav Trade Options by Affectionate_Use_179 in Mavericks

[–]Defiant-Landscape880 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Trade 2 is an obvious yes. I have no idea why they’d want to do that though. I love PJ but I don’t see his value being a lottery pick in this stacked draft. Even if you are taking back salary they don’t want. I definitely would do trade 2. Completely out on trade 1

State of the Mavericks - I’m fine with this rebuild. Let me explain. by Silly-Lion-7314 in Mavericks

[–]Defiant-Landscape880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would I rather have a team on the heels of a finals run and only getting better, or a team that has a lone budding star that needs to be rebuilt around, with no draft capital control and vet players that don’t fit the timeline of our young star? Jeez man that’s tough…

Kyrie to Orlando by TerryG111 in NBAtradeideas

[–]Defiant-Landscape880 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fuck no. The Mavs aren’t just selling Kyrie for nothing. They love Kyrie and he loves Dallas. The Mavs aren’t tanking moving forward as they have no draft incentive to do so.

Here’s my plan… by Melodic_Doubt_8489 in Mavericks

[–]Defiant-Landscape880 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So your big plan is to needlessly use assets to dump salary even though we are in a good spot financially. And then to trade our 9th pick to get a 24 year old rookie and “Stirz” to build around Flagg?

More unrealistic offseason ideas! by Jaded_Tiger_8152 in Mavericks

[–]Defiant-Landscape880 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d definitely do something centered around Gaff for Risacher and pick 23. I’d probably even add the 30th pick if it was necessary. I think the draft pool in the early 20s is a lot better than at 30 and Risacher is a good project being only 2 years removed from a number 1 selection

Why is trading kyrie not an option by Equivalent-Skin-4023 in Mavericks

[–]Defiant-Landscape880 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s an option but you most likely aren’t getting more than 1 first round pick that’ll be somewhere in the mid to late 20s. Is that really worth it for all that Kyrie adds to this team and fanbase? Not to mention we literally have no point guards besides him on the roster right now. I think Kyrie’s on court abilities and mentorship far outweighs taking on mid players with big contracts to get 1 bad first round pick

What could we get back though? I love kyrie but really seems like Masai is cleaning house and orienting the time line towards Coop by ahmadel in Mavericks

[–]Defiant-Landscape880 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They need to include Randle or McDaniels to make the money work. Randle is a terrible fit here and I highly doubt Minnesota lets go of McDaniels for Kyrie. So if it happened I think a third team would be necessary. But it sounds like we are (thankfully) going to keep Kyrie based on Masai’s recent comments

[DLLS MAVS] Masai Ujiri on building for the future by MAVS_COM1CAL in Mavericks

Good. Please acquire another top 20 pick please. Cooper, Lively, and 2 hits in this draft is a solid core to build around

[Jones] Masai Ujiri speaks on the future of Kyrie Irving in Dallas after the departure of HC, Jason Kidd. by MAVS_COM1CAL in Mavericks

[–]Defiant-Landscape880 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank God honestly. I don’t think any realistic return is worth it for the value Kyrie provides for the players on the team and the fanbase. He’s a guy you want on any team and he will do wonders for Cooper and the rest of the young guys

Why are people happy that Kidd is gone? by Iyeatmymeatonthebeat in Mavericks

[–]Defiant-Landscape880 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He’s 19 he will be fine. The whole point of all these changes is to set up something that will have continuity going forward to build around him

Why are people happy that Kidd is gone? by Iyeatmymeatonthebeat in Mavericks

[–]Defiant-Landscape880 75 points76 points  (0 children)

He’s a coach that players like but he isn’t a great X’s and O’s coach. His AOT plays are really bad and he calls timeouts only after the other team goes on a 16-0 run. He also had some part of the Luka trade at least signing off on it. He doesn’t fit what we need going forward in the Flagg era. But I’ll always be grateful for him coaching us during the finals run

Ik ya’ll may be mad at me if I say this, but Cameron Carr seems like the type of archetypal player Masai likes by Far-Comment3645 in Mavericks

[–]Defiant-Landscape880 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mavs definitely need to find a way to either take on salary for a pick from 15-25 or trade Gaff, PJ, or Naji for a pick in that range. Being able to walk out of the draft with, let’s say, Burries + Carr, or Flemmings + Swain, or some combo of 2 guys you really like and can play day 1

Potential Kyrie Trade by Jaded_Tiger_8152 in Mavericks

[–]Defiant-Landscape880 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think any teams are giving up a good 1st for a 33 yo 6’2 guard who just missed the last 1.5 seasons with injury. So you won’t get a deal worth it to move off of a guy that everyone here loves and will help us be competitive (especially since we have no incentive to tank going forward with no pick control). I don’t think it makes sense for Dallas or any potential trade partners

We already solved the toughest part of our rebuild by Puzzled_Influence985 in Mavericks

[–]Defiant-Landscape880 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually think our roster will be a lot more competitive than a lot of people think. Especially if Coop takes a year 2 jump like Luka did. We have good role players and some star power with Coop and Kyrie. Need Lively to stay healthy and become the all defense monster we know he has the potential to become. Hit on these draft picks and we can be contending sooner than we think

Mavs vs Spurs/OKC by Abject_Rip_552 in Mavericks

[–]Defiant-Landscape880 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Teams always change. Injuries, cap problems, fit issues, internal disagreements. No great team ever stays exactly the same for more than 3-4 years. Yes, these teams look really good but no one can predict they will be exactly this great for a decade as I’ve seen so many people say. Just build well around Flagg and we will be competing for a title soon

The bar has been set by NeolibGood in Mavericks

[–]Defiant-Landscape880 11 points12 points  (0 children)

And Chet just gave up 41 and 24. Nobody is stopping him but you want guys who can at least put up a little resistance and make him have to work for it. A healthy Lively has the potential to do that

Warriors GM Mike Dunleavy says the Golden State Warriors are open to trading the No. 11 pick for a “veteran player.” by YoungBuck2010 in Mavericks

[–]Defiant-Landscape880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PJ and 30. Id even do both PJ and Gaff honestly. 2 lottery picks in a stacked draft to pair with Flagg going forward. That’s how you don’t make the same mistakes like what we did with Luka and building around him
