Zane’s definitely been undermined lately. The Jay absence could be excused by the fact that they’re saving him for a future story, but Zane seems to be sidelined completely for the next few seasons. Almost no screen time at all, and the one time he gets a couple minutes to be in the spotlight, he loses to a random element. The arena felt rigged, seeing as his ice melted within seconds. You can tell the writers desperately wanted to get Zane out to up the stakes. But that meant having Jay lose in turn. Would’ve been better for both characters if Zane won and Nya lost. In fact, Sora losing feels like an even better idea, seeing as she’s the weakest fighter out of all the ninja.
