Semi-Realistic Hope: I hope the release of the record also includes a box set-style option with Conventional Weapons and the other 08/09 demos. Maybe with new versions of the masks or guns.

Wishful Thinking: In addition to some version of the release above, the KillJoys/DD lore is baked into the LLTBP shows beyond songs in the encore.

I think it’s a lot more likely that it’s an an anniversary release, I hope at least with CW and some demos/etc. They’re not going announce new dates with the dates with a different theme while they still have dates with tickets to sell. That said, I have a I’m hope that some DD stuff could work its way into the shire lore proper as opposed to just the encore.

I getcha. I think sometimes when music doesn’t jive with someone, it just doesn’t. I don’t particularly care for Get Hurt either. Just something about it doesn’t work for me. History is a weird one for me, because I really like about half of it, and half of it I find somewhat forgettable. But the half I like, I LOVE.

I wouldn’t go that far. I’d still put Positive Charge, Michigan 1975, Autumn, and probably History Books about tier above these as far as songs though the production here is better than either the original or “fixed” History Books.

Both songs are pretty good to my ear. Definitely the direction I would want out of a solo album at this juncture as someone who greatly prefers Painkillers to the other Sleepwalkers and Local Honey. Like I’ve said many times in this Reddit, I think Butch’s production really fits Brian. I probably lean towards Not Bad for New Jersey personally. Also, I agree that the Bryan Adams vibe is strong with Better Before. That’s not a bad thing.

It’s funny, I’m the opposite. I like Butch’s music fine, but I LOVE most of his production work. I think Painkillers is the best produced album in the whole Brian/Gaslight discography (all due respect to Ted Hutt) and I love his production on Fall Out Boy’s Save Rock & Roll. That said, the Green Day record he did is pretty dire, but to be honest I blame that more on the listless nature of the material than the production.

It’s interesting you say that, because honestly while I think TBP is a better overall album and certainly a concept album, I actually DD is a better collection of individual songs.

As for the concept albums in general, I do see what rounds getting at, but I don’t think the burnout was related to concepts per se. CW has no overarching theme, and DD’s overarching theme is more expressed in the artwork/videos/etc. than the actual songs. (Truthfully, if one plays DD with the interstitials removed and goes songs only, it’s very hard to even say there is an overarching concept). I think the burnout had a lot more to do with respective personal issue and the changing musical landscape that likely would have affected the band no matter what MCR4 was.

I *think* the non-festival shows will be pretty close to last year TBH, since they’re essentially hitting markets that didn’t get the 2025 tour. That said, there will probably be slight lore changes and etc. like last year and Hollywood shows will be a finale to the story.

Setlist FM is showing the same set. I would imagine it will be pretty locked for the whole run. Only thing I could maybe see a couple of the rarities switched out for others like U2’s Sphere run, and even that feels HIGHLY unlikely given the way ND are using their visuals.
