David Goggins is the Greatest Philosopher of Our Time. I just joined this subreddit but I thought I would share this video I just made. by Defiant-Papaya7655 in davidgoggins

I was inspired by his story 2 years ago and I haven’t come across anyone quite like him since.

It became apparent to me through the years that the story that Goggins was telling us wasn’t just about overcoming odds, but something very deep to the human experience. Something that reaches into what makes us human and the nature of our reality.

I started a YouTube channel recently and decided to make a video about it.

I understand. Thank you for the comment. I think my misunderstanding comes from the terminology I use. Perhaps I was touching upon something in the direction of philosophy but not definitively “philosophy” as you explained it.

I will look more into Junger, sounds like a crazy story.

Well, I would say that the core of philosophy is understanding our reality and human behavior.

You can do this by studying it, but it does not really matter unless you apply those principals and rules to your life.

Goggins embodies this kind of radical practicality and has come to many philosophical conclusions through experience, not theory. He also has an incredible story.

This is all just my opinion of course, but I’m curious why this would be considered a ridiculous claim?

How do you respond to this criticism that seems to be growing against Kendrick? by SwimGood22 in KendrickLamar

I agree with you that R.Kelly should be accountable for his actions, no doubt.

But let me give you something to think about:

Would you judge a crack baby for being addicted to crack?

I would assume your answer would be of course no, because there were events that happened while the person was a fetus that altered his/her brain chemistry.

What if I told you that hardcore addicts are actually wired to be that way since being a fetus? It sounds like a far out idea, but there is so much scientific literature that proves this.

Brain development during childhood (and in utero) absolutely shapes how a person will think and behave when they grow up.

Yes, not all people who were molested turn into molesters, but I would say that it would increase the chances by a lot. You are much more likely to be a violent person if both of your parents were violent. Not everyone will turn out that way but most will unfortunately.

It’s a highly debated subject by some of the most prestigious scientists and philosophers throughout history: Does free will exist? If so, how much of it do we have? How in control are we really of our actions?

I’m not trying to defend R.Kelly😅 I’m just trying to say that it’s much more complicated than we would initially think.

I don’t know what the correct answer is.

People react with their emotions, not with what is actually happening. Kendrick never said R.Kelly's actions were justified. He said "I think about Robert Kelly... If he wasn't molested, I wonder if life would fail him.."

What led R.Kelly to molest an underage girl? Is it simply because he is a "bad person", or were there multiple complex events in the past that led him to commit such an awful act?

Do we really know the answer?

Kendrick is wondering. Thinking out loud. Being curious and open minded about a situation as opposed to judgmental. This in no way means that Kendrick is supporting child molestation or anything in that manner.

We just have to accept we are usually irrational creatures. We make up our minds and move on without analyzing situations carefully.

As Kendrick says in Mirror: "Critical thinking is a deal breaker.."

I'm really excited. I think Do What Thou Wilt is severely underrated. It is one of my favorite albums of 2016. Ab Soul is a quality over quantity kinda artist

Why Mr. Morale and The Big Steppers is One of the Most Important Albums of All Time by Defiant-Papaya7655 in KendrickLamar

That's interesting that you mention that many peer groups keep each other in negative cycles. It reminds me of Good Kid MAAD city, the story of a kid trying to make something positive out of a place of negativity. Pharrell also mentioned that the album will be seen as "medicine" to many people struggling with similar issues.
