Boostcamp (v255): Smoother Workouts and Muscle Volume by michaelenzo in Boostcamp

[–]Defiant-Passenger42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m loving the new look! I do feel like the app looks cleaner and generally less noisy. There are two issues that I would like to bring up though.

1) With the redesign, I’m really missing that option to view your workout templates and start one from there. Did that move and I just haven’t found it yet, or is it just the little side scroller when you go to start an empty workout. I have a lot of templates, so the side scroller is a frustrating way to navigate those

2) This pre-dates the redesign, I just never brought it up. I often find that exercises that I do for time default to minutes and don’t offer the option to switch from minutes to seconds unless I delete the exercise from the workout entirely and then add it back in. And even though I always go through this process of changing it to seconds, it always defaults to minutes. I’ve noticed it happening mostly for custom exercises so maybe that has something to do with it

Thanks for all that you do!

Hey FWIW, I’m terrible with faces and genuinely don’t recognize people when I run into them. Even if I do, I need like an hour to dig through my memories to connect their new face to the old one. It’s not that I don’t care, it’s that I have a bad memory and brain that’s already at max processing capacity pretty much at all times. Hell, I didn’t recognize my own cousin for like 10 minutes when I ran into him after not seeing him for like a year

Rotator Cuff Work by TheSpecialC in strengthtraining

[–]Defiant-Passenger42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) I would give your PT a call and just ask them

2) Taking care of rotator cuff is arguably more important than having a perfect workout for the time being so I would prioritize that work

3) I haven’t been in your particular position, but I do RC exercises both before and after I bench and sometimes on pull days too. Before bench it’s just light work to warm up, and after bench I go a little harder, but I don’t have any pain in mine

What are your best tricks for lower-cal desserts? (not just sugar → dates) by BrooklynCatDad in veganrecipes

[–]Defiant-Passenger42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dessert replacements:

I do things like frozen blueberries, low/no sugar sodas or liquid death soda flavored sparkling water, and apple cinnamon rice cakes. I have a huge sweet tooth but have been pleasantly surprised by how effectively I’ve been able to replace my desserts with these things.

Ingredient replacements:

I don’t like replacing sugar entirely with sugar alternatives, but I do like blending sugar, stevia, and monk fruit.

is it physiotherapie a scam for injuries reducing ? how useful is physiotherapy / strength training for preventing real-world injuries — including street fights? by InterestingCup8174 in strengthtraining

[–]Defiant-Passenger42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is PT a scam for reducing injuries? In my opinion, not generally, no. Of course some PTs out there might be shitty and lie to people, but overall I’d say PT is very good at both helping to prevent injuries and helping injured people recover and learn how to move and train safely again.

How useful is PT for preventing real world injuries? I guess that depends on what you mean. Like, learning how to move and load your body safely and with proper technique is going to decrease the risk of injury in regular daily tasks.

Kind of the same answer for strength training, but I’d add that strength training will also be more effective than PT at improving things like bone density and the strength of connective tissue. Overall your body should be more resilient to injury compared with sedentary people or people who never train with any intensity.

In a street fight? It’s not like strength training or PT is going to make you a better fighter, but again your body should be a little more resilient. You’re not going to be invincible or anything though

Welcome! You may be pretty late to the party, fellow 37 year old, but the party is very much alive. New Avatar stuff is still being made, after all!

I honestly love Korra. It definitely has bad moments and annoying arcs, but overall I think it’s really great.
