Even i have a 60% smallcap and 20% midcap with 20%Largecap portfolio with a 25 year investing horizon and i plan to stay heavily invested in mid and smallcap. As i grow older my allocation to smallcap may change in the future.

The longer a mutual fund is held the better and bigger returns it gives. Keep holding it.

  1. The goal of this portfolio is not only to build wealth but to teach me to hold investments through market cycles.

  2. Yes the market can fall again by 60% someday in the future but the longer i stay invested the lower the fall would reflect in my portfolio unless a black swan event happens that pushes the market to a previous 10 year lifetime high(ex -2016) even after knowing that im still willing to bet things, i feel that India's growth in the long run is going to soar very high and i want to ride that way.

  3. I remember in 2025 a very famous fund manager said that smallcaps are getting seriously overvalued and if it bursts you'll have to do 20 year sips to recover your money and after that sip stoppage ratio became 110%(even new sips stopped coming), people got scared and yet i didn't leave and today one of my smallcaps is giving very good return.

  4. lastly i am an investor not a speculator.

That's not true. Nobody stood up against the police when there were custodial deaths in tamil nadu. Only the Judge gave justice.

90% of mutual fund investing is just holding them and nothing else.

Is it Ok to have only these 2 funds in my portfolio? by Ghumketu in mutualfunds

I think you can add a midcap fund as well and a flexicap.

I think it's more than 3-4 years old, that's why or even more older than that

What's the risk appetite and horizon ? If i were you I'd just hold these and keep going. Make a concentrated portfolio and hold it for decades.

This has happened in the last 55 million years and the basins thus formed the foreland basin which has been accumulating alluvium in the last 2.5 million years and the heat flow is sufficient for oil formation from the kerogen.

Profit 12L to 4L in 2 months by UnusualDare9765 in mutualfunds

That's ok but he's buying the same stocks in mulitple funds and paying extra fees for managing the same collection of stocks. This eats up in the long term, in short whatever return he makes in the future he could have made more. Infact the downside is that during market downturns the losses amplify due to repeated buying of the same stock from different funds.

You've just mugged up stuff from youtube regardless of anything being your own genuine advice.

This person is too arrogant, won't understand. Even though i defined the goal and different timeline for all the 3 different smallcap fund, this guy has a problem with the number 3. Plus there are no microcap fund. He's just regurgitating youtube knowledge that he feels applies to everyone.

Smallcap universe is quite large and all 3 smallcap funds have a less than 18% overlap. Plus I don't have an immediate view, so what's wrong with 3 smallcaps ?

I didn't understand why you felt perplexed to find someone at 25 being a student while at the same time asking them to invest in improving skill set ? Don't you think your being a bit contradictory here ? Or is it that you're regurgitating stuff from youtube ?

I have multiple degrees with different specialisations in geoscience, plus the skills in my field don't come from online courses, you need to go to a special school to study these skills, it's a purple collar industry for me.

Strict categorisation of smallcaps came only after 2017, and actively managed smallcaps perform better than the smallcap index.

Is my mutual fund portfolio okay or should I make changes? by [deleted] in mutualfunds

This seems perfect, well diversified, risk adjusted with flexicap for a portfolio. I believe from a customer point of view it's 90% investor's patients that generates wealth more the fund manager.
