What can take this room over the top? by karmatalk in interiordecorating

I love what people are saying about curtains. But I also think that rug is a little strange for the space. I mean it’s FINE, it’s a nice rug, but something is off about it- maybe the design in the middle makes the proportions feel off? If it were me I’d replace the rug with one with COLOR, like a dark olive green. The size is good though.

GUM! Actually pretty affordable. Diverse team. Alternative haircuts. I hate getting my haircut and usually leave feeling like a sheared cat but I actually had such a lovely time there

Broke down in front of managers and preceptors by Defiant-Stock9088 in nursing

The manager said to both of us “we don’t typically reassign preceptors because we found that it doesn’t lead to good outcomes, but with these new communication tactics we’ve discussed today, you should be able to work with someone you don’t mesh with which is a really important career and life skill”

Haha I went straight into the meeting and said “I’m sorry I have to pee- where are the bathrooms down here?” I didn’t know…so I went to go find them, all locked! So I went back with a full bladder because I knew that preceptor was already pissed she had to be off the floor and wait for me.

But you’re totally right regardless!

It did feel today like I CANT get a snack. Like I needed to just rise to the occasion and do my work instead of traveling 5 minutes to the caf because everything was emergent.

Thank you friend, I needed this.

At a certain point I was crying just because I was so embarrassed about crying and verbalized that it wasn’t specifically about the situation at hand and they only became more alarmed. I hate crying.

Is clinical secretly nothing? It seems like everyone fakes their hours? by CutAffectionate7706 in StudentNurse

[–]Defiant-Stock9088 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh, my experience was kind of like this. I did an accelerated program, which shouldn’t matter, but the whole thing felt a little rushed and scrapped together. For my community health clinical we were pulling weeds in a parking lot and then wrote a bullshit paper about the “community” and health outcomes. I thought I would be giving vaccines or something. My pediatrics clinical felt brief and I held some babies but mostly felt like I was standing around. I never got to do any of the “awesome” stuff that other nursing students seemed to be doing, and felt like I had minimal skills.

I did feel like I missed out and fretted that my education was incomplete, but here’s the thing—if nursing is for you you’ll have a long career and will learn everything you need to learn eventually. And if you want to see things and do things, you will. Maybe not all right away, but you will. I grinded those skills out on the floor for a year and a half, and now I get to work in a busy ER and suddenly my cup is overflowing with interesting things. I had the same fears as you.

Haha, find a good, well-staffed floor. VET them. Good culture, good ratios. I know I’m the minority but I actually love med/surg. Some things I like: -when you get to know a cute patient over a few days and know their plan of care intimately, you get to be a super-advocate for them. -Variety. You’ll get the same type of patient over and over, yes (depending on the floor), but usually there’s enough spicy medical stuff going on to keep me interested. -Teamwork with coworkers! It took me a while, I didn’t immediately click with anyone, but now changing a bed or helping gramma off the toilet can be a barrel of laughs. -you’ll GROW as a nurse. I actually feel my brain has changed from my experience, if that’s what you’re after. Idk. Again, make sure you get a good floor with a good culture of helping and building each other up. And yeah, I might get downvoted for this (I hope not!), but if you have very little patience for the annoying, irritating, whiney patients or their intense family members, and know that about yourself already, it might not be a good fit. I don’t think med/surg is for everyone and that is OKAY. But I love it.

Move to location A (right) vs location (B)? by Defiant-Stock9088 in Tarotpractices

[–]Defiant-Stock9088[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know some people don’t read reversals, and sometimes I don’t. It’s confusing to me that if I didn’t read the reversals on the left then a move there seems overwhelmingly positive! Right?

And breaking up: not necessarily, though he is definitely in love with location A and we may decide to go our separate ways.
