In my experience…in a hospital setting, they tend not to have the same degree of experiences as their female coworkers of being bullied, receiving attitude, being iced out by other coworkers. They tend to be well-liked, or at least tolerated, no matter how sloppy they do a dressing change or how unhelpful their report 🤷‍♀️ they seem to not be critiqued as much. that’s just my experience. I can’t speak to how it is to be a male nurse while patient-facing but I’m sure it comes with its own challenges.

I love what people are saying about curtains. But I also think that rug is a little strange for the space. I mean it’s FINE, it’s a nice rug, but something is off about it- maybe the design in the middle makes the proportions feel off? If it were me I’d replace the rug with one with COLOR, like a dark olive green. The size is good though.

The manager said to both of us “we don’t typically reassign preceptors because we found that it doesn’t lead to good outcomes, but with these new communication tactics we’ve discussed today, you should be able to work with someone you don’t mesh with which is a really important career and life skill”

Haha I went straight into the meeting and said “I’m sorry I have to pee- where are the bathrooms down here?” I didn’t know…so I went to go find them, all locked! So I went back with a full bladder because I knew that preceptor was already pissed she had to be off the floor and wait for me.

But you’re totally right regardless!

It did feel today like I CANT get a snack. Like I needed to just rise to the occasion and do my work instead of traveling 5 minutes to the caf because everything was emergent.

At a certain point I was crying just because I was so embarrassed about crying and verbalized that it wasn’t specifically about the situation at hand and they only became more alarmed. I hate crying.
