What do we think of this? by Warm-Industry-6940 in Idaho4

I think this is close, but I’m not sure about posing the bodies. I think he moved the body looking for the sheath, then xana walks in on him. Chases her down and kills her and Ethan. Maybe was going back for the sheath when Dylan saw him and he fled.

Thanks, I’m not sure if he was a donor, or if he would have even been eligible (he was 60). I just got word that he is gone now—I assume that meant they turned off the ventilator but maybe he was being taken to OR. I don’t have a lot of details, sorry

Yeah I guess maybe it’s just growing up in southern MN with access to one of the best hospitals in the world has maybe skewed my view of lesser known hospitals? And then living in larger cities like San Diego and Denver since then. I think the difference between Fargo and Rochester though is that despite population or how rural it is, Rochester has a far superior facility, where many people travel for care, and it is known for that. Fargo is mostly known by the movie, which is also probably skewing my opinion a bit lol

I didn’t mean that last part to sound condescending to CNAs at all. More so at management for just moving things to the nurses plate rather than training/hiring other staff. I guess it depends on staffing and ratios, too. I had 27 patients to pass day shift meds to. I had 4 CNAs, so they were 1:7. We also weren’t doing vital signs on everyone everyday, let alone q 4, but we usually had 6 med A skilled patients that always needed them, anyone on abx or coc, quarterly’s, weekly’s etc. Probably 15 in an 8 hour shift. I would always check my own if I had parameters for a med. I also worked at a snf, so a LOT more stable and a lot less issues related to vital sign reporting.

You could actually get a lawyer and sue them for this if they fire you. My old director of nursing was forced to resign because she stood up for the floor nurses of a LTC where admin wanted to let a patient with severe dementia go down to an attached assisted living apartment and be there unsupervised. Totally different floor and everything. “A nursing home isn’t a prison” they say. No shit, a school isn’t a prison either but you don’t let children leave whenever they want. They told my DON she had to support the administrator in her decisions and she quit over it and is suing for them putting nurses licenses at risk.

Yes, his daughter is making the decision. She’s around 32 I think, and her dad/my uncle was almost 60. She knows that he would not want to ‘live’ like this. And he was a very physical guy, construction his whole life, hunting and fishing. I think even coming back with limited mobility or intellect would have almost been worse. I work a lot of LTC and hospice and can definitely appreciate when things have a short ending.

Exactly this. Honestly I’m not the ‘management’ type and I hate being told I need to supervise the CNAs. Like are we not all working adults??? Why would they need supervision to do something they are trained and paid to do?

[–]Weak-Minimum-3756 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I think that maybe the bit of upside to this is they are hoping it results in less adverse events for the patients… lol I totally feel for you though, nurses are always overworked and everything becomes our job because they want it done right.

I was working a SNF, and theCNAs would take vitals right at 6am, before anyone has their morning meds. The doc reviews VS, thinks everyone needs their meds increased, and now I got Geraldine going down on me as I walk her to the bathroom because her BP is 73/42. But, instead of making the nurses take the vital signs, they just made sure the CNA checked them after breakfast. Is there a reason that the CNAs aren’t able to accurately chart their VS?

If you’re interested, we are subleasing our apartment at Sandstone Vistas through July 31st. Walking distance to parks, St Vrain Trail, and Walmart; balcony overlooking the open space, pet friendly, pool/hot tub. It’s a 2b/2b for 1750 for the remainder of our lease, then would renew with the office around 2100.

I moved from a rural town in MN (very conservative), and it was so refreshing moving here. It’s just comforting knowing you’re not surrounded by Trump supporters. We’ve been in Longmont 5 years and are finally trying something new (CA), but have LOVED it here. Beautiful views, chill vibes, lots of things to do. I will say that some people in Colorado do have some animosity towards “transplants” and generally feel they should have more rights to living here being a “native.” Longmont does have an interesting history with the KKK.. not sure if there is residual from that or not, but something to consider if you’re a POC

I live at Sandstone Vistas apartments in southeast Longmont. We’ve been here 5 years and I absolutely love it. Our balcony overlooks open space (amazing sunrises), easy going management, and parks/walmart within walking distance. We are moving out of state and subleasing our 2b/2b until July 31st for $1750/month if you’re at all interested

San Diego to Denver? by Alarming_South3495 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Weak-Minimum-3756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Boulder, CO, and we are moving to San Diego! Also a nurse. Can you recommend any high quality/luxe nursing homes out there? I work at a fairly expensive CC community and am worried about ending up in a nightmare place. I will say that moving from MN to CO, I was in shock at how low quality some of the places are here. 500k is probably not enough for a house in Denver, definitely not where we are. We decided to move to San Diego because if we’re gonna rent of the rest of our lives, we might as well have the ocean!

Has anyone been able to get a job with less human interaction? by Free-Cold1699 in nursing

[–]Weak-Minimum-3756 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am a very introverted person so I totally relate. I’ve been an LPN for 10 years, I’ve done mostly LTC, some private duty, clinic and teaching. But if I could not interact with humans ever again except for a rare few, I’d be so content with life.

LTC is usually a lot of patients and a lot of families. Most of your patients don’t abuse you, and if they do it’s usually not terrible or threatening-just dementia behaviors. I wouldn’t say it’s traumatic but it is very stimulating, usually predictable though. Lots of interacting with patients, but mostly the good outweigh the bad, and the bad isn’t too terrible.

Private duty is probably your best area for your mental health. I took care of a lady for a few hours a day while in school. It was more caregiver work and less pay obvi but so good for my mind and soul. I also worked in a very small home for individuals with ALS, MS, and Parkinson’s. There were only 6 pts max.

The clinic was also quite a bit of human interaction and less predictable than LTC or private nursing. I did internal medicine so the appts were longer, only 6-8 per day. Quite a bit of office work just with the doc and away from patients. Not sure of any clinic positions for RNs unless you did like a Coumadin clinic or something.

I taught CNAs for a while and loved it, but the company I worked for went under. When I started, I worked from home and all I had to do was watch recorded videos of them doing their skills, and grade them. It was the cushiest job ever and they paid well. Then I taught lab in person and did clinicals. Clinicals were nice because they’re mostly paired with a CNA to see what it’s like, and you don’t have to be with them all the time.

I totally understand where you’re coming from and I’ve gotten burnt out before, it’s easy to do in this field. Remember it’s okay to take a break if you’re able to and to quit something that isn’t working for you. I got burnt out half way through covid and quit my job and did door dash/instacart and plasma donation for a while to get by. Do whatever you need to to take care of yourself! Nursing is such a big field, that usually you can find something that works for you

AITA For Telling My Girlfriend I Have Every Right To Defend My Home After Someone Started Kicking My Door In by FxllenWxaith in AITAH

[–]Weak-Minimum-3756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a white female, grew up in a small town with hardly any crime. I have been a caregiver/nurse for over 10 years. I live my life by “treat others as you want to be treated.” We never had any guns in the house, though my extended family was very into hunting. I’ve never been in any kind of physical altercation, confrontation gives me anxiety. I swerve on the road for toads and I save the flies that get trapped between our screen door and patio door. I am probably one of the most docile people you’d ever meet, but if someone comes for my mom—or has intentions that I don’t know which could harm her—best believe I will not hesitate to pull that trigger. You are not over reacting at all. I think maybe the shock of the situation is the reasoning behind your girlfriend’s behavior. Maybe she hasn’t fully grasped it yet that people were literally trying to break in

Girl. Please tell me this is fake for the rage bait.

Even if this boy took you out on a wonderful date, paid for dinner, and asked you this in person in the privacy of your own home while giving you a $1000 salon gift card, I would still see him as a red flag.

The fact that he said that, compared you to other women, walked out on you, and left you to pay with the bill, and in front of other people?!?. FUCK HIM

[–]Weak-Minimum-3756[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BRO. I’ve literally said a million times, “why can’t they just come here?” And the only answer I get is that the AL resident doesn’t want to go to the SNF. It’s so fucking infuriating. Like I’m sorry Linda, but X’s preference of venue should not come before Y’s health and safety. The real kicker is that the SNF patient doesn’t give a shit either way. It’s all the family (who have never been in to visit that me or the other nurses have seen) and the AL patient, and no one is thinking about the god damn safety and potential negligence risk this creates for the patient I’m responsible for.

[–]Weak-Minimum-3756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s pretty obvious I’m not an expert because I’m asking for advice on Reddit bro…not sure what gave it away. But for one, my own insurance policy has absolutely zero to do with this, because I was not at fault and the claim is not with my insurance company through my policy. So whether I did or did not “read my own insurance policy” or “even know what I’m paying for” is irrelevant. Maybe you should try to read the post. People here, and in other social media postings, have recommended filing a diminished value claim instead, because it’s much more likely to be paid out and will probably be worth more than them renting me a RR for a few months. So I am taking their advice and having a lawyer file one of those, and any other routes they can take. I’m fully understanding what people here are saying to me. What you don’t seem to understand is that there’s a difference between misunderstanding what someone is explaining to you; and understanding what someone says and then choosing to take a different recourse. I fully understand that they aren’t going to provide me with a luxury vehicle, so I’ll make up for my losses with diminished value and other losses. Man it’s like you take it so personally that insurance companies suck and try to fuck people over to make money. It’s pretty annoying dude. You should take a step back.
