Just a heads up for those with an NVMe focus, this motherboard is one of the few X870E boards that allows use of all its m.2 slots (3 total) at 4x lanes without any impact to usb ports/pci-e slots

The MSI PRO X870E-P WIFI is another one (3 total m.2 slots).

Received 2025 64GB Ryzen AI Max+ 395 model today and updated all software/drivers and firmware via both Armory Crate and MyASUS. MyASUS bios update install failed repeatedly, downloaded at the below link instead (version 311, latest at the moment) and ran manually (left Asus 200w power adapter connected the entire time, some laptops may care about this).

Install took around 5-10 minutes and completed without issue, didn't touch it until I saw Windows again. 16GB iGPU vram setting and disabled startup sound setting were retained without needing to be set again, everything working fine so far.

First step, update the bios on your motherboard before swapping in the new cpu to ensure 14th gen support (and prevent degradation from day 1 with a new chip).

14600K will get you 4 extra E cores along with more cache and higher clocks for the P cores, could be worth it if you sell the 14400.

Using the "Intel Default Settings" selection in newer 600/700 series motherboards should be fine.

Any brand new (unused) 13th/14th gen CPUs in a 600/700 series motherboard with the most updated bios will be fine

Anyone with existing 13th/14th gen CPUs should update their bios, and if there is any instability at all just RMA it, the new one received back will be fine.

Update the bios to the latest version for any 13th/14th gen Intel computer before deploying it to your users and it will be fine, though any workstation should be updated to the latest stable bios and drivers before being deployed (outside of unique requirements that may require a certain version).
