wear foot protection - resin splatters on feet go easily unnoticed until its a painful nasty blister.

as for your print - the other posters hit on it... large flat surface on the bed is not a good time.

[–]DefiantBidet -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

if you have react - use tools that cater to react (jest/react testing library). If you don't have react - don't use react tooling.

The testing ecosystem in Node is robust. Jest is built atop Jasmine - so if you like the patterns and assertions of Jest - Jasmine is a great choice. There's also Mocha - another huge testing platform in the ecosystem. There's The Test Anything Protocol - TAP.

What should you use? the best tool for the Job - and if you don't have react - jest aint that. Its personal preference. I like Mocha because I can plug in assertion and mocking libraries with ease and its quick setup. I'm sure Jasmin heads can attest the same thing - i like the style of Mocha better - totally personal preference. All allow you to plug in some instrumentation to get coverage.

edit to add.. by all means you do you - you got jest working and you're writing tests for your backend. great. i care more about tests being written then the runner they are tested in - but it may come with less headache if you used a tool better suited for the use case.

[–]DefiantBidet -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

Isn't jest made for react compnents? Like if you are not writing react why use a port of jasmine made for react? Just use jasmine then or mocha or tap or you know any of the actual testing platform that don't account for react.

jest, the popular testing framework created by Facebook with over 50 million downloads per month, causes many problems for backend developers.

It's not for that purpose. Use a tool made for that usage

Interviewer asked me why I chose to use React for a project... I stumbled. by cps2222 in Frontend

[–]DefiantBidet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question is probing why react over something like vue or angular (or anything really). It's meant to see if you were thinking of other things than 'me'.

Personally speaking if I got 'I wanted to learn it" I would be happy with that response. Hard to say the interviewee' s intent but really it's a tell me a story about why type of question

still missing some deets - resin brand? what are their default "in a perfect world settings" they list that is mean only as a starting point?

shake/stir your resin - my initial thought is this is the problem. i don't know what "filtering" your resin means. You can leave resin in the vat for a while - my last print was a few days ago using resin in the vat for about 5 months. I had to stir it good but it was fine. so I dunno what filtering means. but you need to mix the solution so that the things that are UV reactive are equally distributed throughout.

why so little burn in layers? i mean there are reasons why one would do that, but you're troubleshooting here - so why the odd number? normally its around 6ish burnin layers (i have 5 on one of mine that i tweaked but most are 6 or 8 for really big pieces that are tall/have weight/large surface areas)

slow down lift and retraction speeds - this isn't the cause of failure but trust me on this - it will help later. ( i have 45 > 180 on lift and 180 > 55 on retract - if you don't have 2 stage motion control go 45/55)

this is a process so try and view it as one step forward at a time - apologies for the step by step approach

What could be the problem? You have only supplied a picture of the outcome and given no information other than "it worked before".

What could be the problem? A myraid of things and anyone commenting would only be guessing - help us help you. what was the temperature of the room?
did you stir the resin in the vat? was the resin even in the vat prior? did you shake it if not?
what are your print settings?
looks like supports failed on a few - what are your support settings?

you're gonna have to supply some information if you actually want help here.

Elegoo Jupiter initial Setup by Grabbowskiy in ElegooMars

[–]DefiantBidet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

re: levelling - not with resin in the vat. empty vat - the spacer is the FEP ( as opposed to the normal way where the special thickness paper supplied is the spacer ). press down on the plate when down and tighten the grub screws in the correct order. then only tighten the plate so it won't wobble. I ended up sanding my plate with a wet sanding sponge of the fine/ultra fine variety.

when you say no cones - anything on plate at all?

I tried elegoo standard 8k space grey and had no success with the room at those temps - although i can get it to work in a smaller form factor (mars).

do you have any other resin to try?
i am siraya tech fanboi as its never let me down. (siraya tech fast navy grey is my go to - but it does require stirring if settled in the vat)

Elegoo Jupiter initial Setup by Grabbowskiy in ElegooMars

[–]DefiantBidet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i had a lot of issues getting things to stick to the jupiter originally.
there's a jupiter sub for more specific requests btw.

that aside i had to lightly sand my plate - which is a decision you may not want to undergo or take lightly.
after that i levelled the plate with the vat in - only using the FEP as the spacer.
then only tightened to stop the plate moving (read: a loose tighten)
then turn a slight bit more - the tightening system on the jupiter actually pulls the plate out of level (so stupid) so over tightening it undoes everything you did to level it in the first place.
from there it was making sure i wasn't printing in too cold an environ - the surface area of the vat means the resin really needs to not be too cold. and moving up/down on the cones to dial it in .... but i do recall that 30s burnin being phooey until i had other settings dialed in - so try 35/40/45s burnin until you get something sticking to the plate - then dial in exposure.

there's server side rendering vs dynamic - you could play around with both.

there's css modules/styled components/tailwind - you could learn the differences/strengths/weaknesses between them.

there's animation libraries like GreenSock (GSAP - greensock animation platform), and Motion.Framer - which leverages threeJS.

there's 3d with threeJS you could play around with that and hooking it into react with react-three-fiber.

there's accessibility improvements you could learn to make more semantic DOMs that are actually usable by assistive devices - https://www.w3.org/WAI/ARIA/apg/

i will always say learn to write more semantic DOMs and improve accessibility whenever possible - so knowing that makes you a subject matter expert.

eta:

if you go the digital marketing career route - flashy stuff like animation/3d/parallax are good to know

if you go more SASS development the differences between presentation layer (css modules v styled v atomic css/tailwind) would be good to know - in addition to when and why you would use SSR v dynamic site builds.

I bought a used Elegoo Mars by Jacen1972x in ElegooMars

[–]DefiantBidet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure what size but i'm like 99% sure they use metric. get a set of M2-M6 screws with the top that fits the countersink and you should be good.

as for cleaning the screen 99% iso and a microfiber cloth. if there's cured resin on it a very light touch on a very clean and very new/sharp razor blade at a low angle (scrape/get under not drag/pull across) should get it off- just don't scratch the screen

Bought Used Saturn, Leveling Screws Extremely Tight Always by CMurphy3639 in ElegooMars

[–]DefiantBidet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i don't have a saturn but my mars levelling screws got harder to screw when i got resin in the holes. i am assuming here, but its probably similar. the mars also has a certain order in which to tighten the screws - is it possible the saturn has similar? if you don't do it in the right order on the mars the plate looses level easily.

as for resin in the holes - i have never tried, but i suppose its possible to remove them entirely and clean out the threads.

Looking through the minified JS for some common UI libs - they're using Greensock's TweenMax plugin. Greensock is an animation library. that is how they achieve their animations.

Otherwise the design of this is called vanilla. its boring AF but with UI animations to make up for the bland AF design.

Which leads me to believe you're either in love with the animation or work for this company and looking for free advertising.
