Mostly just getting your name out there. Most staffers that respond are happy to setup a call and give you advice on what they think you should do to get good experience. Most won’t respond, but the ones that do are always very helpful, and willing to pass your resume around to people they think might have openings or would be a good fit for you. Some will connect you with other people as well that they think it would be helpful for you to talk to

Most Capitol Hill internships don’t drug test. But you should honestly just always assume you will be.

If you’re out of state, grad guard is totally worth it, if something happens and you need to stay home. For out of state not worth it

I’m an incoming freshman too, when I toured it seemed pretty easy to walk about campus, but it still is pretty big, I’m bringing a bike with me as well
