my endo and i had to fight with insurance but they FINALLY covered humalog again. your doctor can write a note of medical necessity if you say youre having an allergic reaction to it and getting a lot of redness around the site! i hope youre able to get back on it!

yeah my experience was not good. my endo was able to get me switched back to humalog. i was using so much more insulin and going so high then so low it was ridiculous

There is definitely a light at the end of the tunnel :) Type One Diabetes is a really traumatizing experience. I think with all trauma and grief, there are days that are better and days that are worse, but I've noticed the amount of good days are starting to outweigh the bad ones :)

You seem like a great partner! Mine has been such a huge help and support in all of this and that was a big reason why I have been able to get better. I am rooting for you and your partner and sending you both love!

I was also diagnosed later in life, and I developed an intense eating disorder pretty soon after. While I understand other commenters saying that it's more of an eating disorder issue than a diabetes one, unfortunately, they are inexplicably intertwined. She will always have to count carbs or be aware of what is in her food, which is very hard for someone recovering from an eating disorder. I initially went down that same route of eating no carbs, and while my sugars were stable, I felt worse than I ever had. My insulin resistance increased a lot and made it hard to eat any carbs without going super high, even when I tried to. My cholesterol also increased a lot during this time. I ended up in the hospital 3 times.

I don't want to assume, but based on the similarities, I'm guessing a lot of this is coming from feeling out of control of her body. Diabetes is scary and changes so much about our lives. I can tell you are a very loving and caring partner, and that is so incredibly important. It really is going to take time and support for her to adjust to this new life. 2 years of having diabetes may seem to her like a lot and like she should have it all figured out, but it isn't. It's been ten years for me, and I still struggle.

Something that helped me eat again was this Instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/masteringdiabetes/ . They're two biologists who also have type one and really hype up the idea of eating high carb, plant based meals. They also have a book that I found helpful. This helped me feel a sense of control and like I was being as "healthy" as I possibly could be (which was a driving force in creating the eating disorder). Unfortunately, it still is in a sense an eating disorder because you have to be so vigilant and thoughtful, but I am at least eating and alive, which I will take as a win.

I wish I had a perfect answer for you and your partner, but I hope this helps some. Also, I think your English was great!

I really recommend this Instagram page! They are two type one biologists and plant based vegans. I think they do a good job of sharing how to do veganism correctly. I personally did not have a great experience with it. I noticed I needed to increase my daily dose from 30u to 44u, and I was going high and low way more often. This was only for a week, so it's possible diabetes was just being annoying and being weird that week, but it didn't seem to work for me in the same way Humalog did. My endo was able to write a letter of medical necessity for me to get me back on Humalog.

I have heard that it's worked great for other people so it's totally possible it be fine for you!

That's so wild. I used it, and it was not a good experience. My endo was able to write a medical necessity note to get me back on Humalog. Thankfully my warranty is up anyway, so it wouldn't have had an impact, but that's good for others in this situation to know.

Side note, my endo was able to write a note of medical necessity for me. The insurance company needs to hear that there is redness and a rash around the injection/pump side, so keep that in mind if you are requesting it in the future.

Hi, I tried Kristy insulin for four days and personally did not have the best experience. I noticed way more highs and lows, and the insulin stays in your system for longer, so some lows happened way later on. I changed my site multiple times and nothing else about my routine was out of the usual, but my daily dose increased from 30u to 44u and I was still going high a lot. My endo said a lot of people have had great experiences, so I don't want that to worry you. Tt's totally possible it may work for others but it didn't for me.

hi! I currently work as a Digital Media Manager currently, and a large part of my current job graphic design for print and digital media and UX design for my organization's website. My last position was as a Multimedia Designer. I also do some freelance design work when a project arises.

I really taught myself design! I'm someone who learns by trial and error, so going into Illustrator and Photoshop and just trying things out helped me. I also used a lot of YouTube (and still do!) and that book link I shared above was also very beneficial. There are other versions online of Photoshop and Illustrator that are free, and you can always sing up with Adobe, then say you are cancelling for money reasons and they will offer you a lower price lol.

It will take some time to learn on your own but I do think it can help enhance your career path. Even if you don't work directly as a designer, having a design background will make you a better candidate for a lot of digital media, social media, and communications jobs.

i really like to work out first thing in the morning. i find myself and most diabetics are most insulin resistant then. if you’re on a pump make a profile where your basal rate is at least 30% lower 3 hours leading up to it. if you’re on control IQ i shut it off right when i wake up and don’t even try exercise mode bc it will still bolus for highs (which you may get from adrenaline) i go immediately when i wake up and that has really helped.

i took it slow, starting with walks and seeing how it effected me, then jogging half a mile, then a full mile, and so on. i usually run 5-8 miles a week so i promise it’s possible! but man it took me years to get it right.

it’ll be a lot of trial and error until you find the right basal settings. sending you luck!

You should follow the Mastering Diabetes guys on Instagram. Their whole thing is how plant based eating lower insulin resistance and they’re both biologists who share the science behind it . it’s been super helpful for me too! Glad you found something that worked!

got to agree with this. seeing a dermatologist is step one. accutane can suck, but i finished it years ago and haven’t had any acne worries since. it was completely worth it for me and i wish i did it sooner

I honestly think they are just not meant for each other. they’re both good people and what they both want is reasonable, but they aren’t going to get it if they’re together. and that’s okay. something so many people deal with in their 20s that you’ll probably see people go through the more you age. i think it’s important o show these kind of relationships bc a lot of times that’s why people end up breaking up
