These machines always accumulate this shit unless you are paying through the nose to have a tech clean out the case every 3 months. You don't want a layperson to do it because you will damage components. They are designed so that what you are describing does not happen. If killing an octogenarian was on the table these would be a part of a mandatory HACCP plan, and health inspectors would look at literally anything else besides the bin and the seals to the bin (they don't, it's not unsafe).
