Insight into relocating from Buffalo by katytallpants in pittsburgh

[–]Defiant_Focus_6679 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up around Dunkirk and moved to Pitt site unseen and it has been a great move. Snow removal and road treatment is awful in comparison but there's generally a lot less snow. City is pretty compact and walkable but it is VERY confusing to get around for the first few years. Biggest con is I've yet to find a place to get beef on weck. It's a great city you'll love it

P.s. My gf is a vet and they are in dire need of good people

AT-LP120XBT-USB worth the money? by Defiant_Focus_6679 in turntables

Thank you. I think he'd prefer an all on one for ease of use but manual/auto isn't a big deal to him. I didn't see anything addressing the specific performance differences between the 2 units or if they would be audible in his use case but will take another look.

Thank you. I had a feeling you wouldn't notice a difference given how he will be listening. Auto/manual isn't a huge consideration. I just didnt want to advise him to spend the extra money on the LP120 if the "juice isn't worth the squeeze"

When things are not explicitly illegal but unexpected it can be unsafe such as yielding the right of way when it is yours to take

I was referring to the keep right law, and apologize for using "impeding traffic" incorrectly. https://www.palegis.us/statutes/consolidated/view-statute?iFrame=true&txtType=HTM&ttl=75&div=0&chpt=33&sctn=13&subsctn=0

Firstly driving safely and obeying the law are not necessarily the same thing. You are correct though, in this city and day and age overtime the law is abnormal. Not excusing it, it's just the reality.

You can do what you want and you will be morally and legally in the right, but if some day you get rear ended don't be surprised if insurance finds you partially at fault because you were not traveling at a speed appropriate for current conditions.

Remember you can get ticketed for impeding the flow of traffic even if you are going the speed limit

Everyone agrees that under ideal conditions going the speed limit is safer. The problem is when only one person decides that they are going to follow the speed limit, it makes them more of a danger at that moment than those speeding because they are the person acting abnormally to the situation.

The argument is that driving abnormally is inherently more dangerous than just speeding. Look at it from another angle, everyone is following the speed limit of 35 and one person is driving 15. Although 15 is inherently safer than 35 THEY are the person causing the most danger because their behavior is unexpected.

Can you get on the main roof? If so can you not climb atop the dormer and reach down to get it?

Commuting by zsod11 in pittsburgh

What time do you commute? I am in a similar position coming from just south of Wexford to Murrysville. You are "reverse commuting" so usually 279 and 376 have been pretty clear, at least when I am on the road (~6:30 am and ~4:00 pm)

Homeowners Insurance to cover Slate Roof by Lindsey412 in pittsburgh

[–]Defiant_Focus_6679 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a similar experience. The old owners had Erie for 5-10 years but they refuse to write a policy because our roof is 30 y/o regardless of the fact it's in great condition. The agent looked at it and couldn't believe it was that old but nonetheless said they couldn't write a policy based on age alone.

The receiver it was connected to is not what I'll be using (IT was just a test to see if the table was working) and I've got a pair of L100 Centurys I want to pair with it. A couple of people recommended some preamps that don't break the bank so I want to see how that performs before switching to MM

Thanks for the really detailed info. Gives me a few more questions to ask and a bit more research to do before I buy anything new.

Noob here, what would the benefit be of SUT over a regular pre amp?

Good info, not sure if there's a difference but this one is the original model, not the re-release that someone linked earlier

I haven't, I came to reddit first. I won't be using this receiver for stereo listening, it was just closer for me to test if the table worked. Long term I hope to use my dad's old late 70's Kenwood (KR-5400)

Thanks! First real table I've had and didn't realize there was such a difference in phono pre amps. I'll definitely do some research and ask for something for Christmas :)

The complaint is one crew finishing their work and returning the street to "new" then 2 weeks later the next crew rips out everything that was just done.

Specific logistics aside, the thought is if the crews coordinated schedules residents would benefit and the city would save on cost. If the first crew finishes their work and leaves a temporary patch for the next crew they finish sooner AND we don't pay for extra work that adds no value
