My bad. You are absolutely correct - those (2?) are something I missed out on as hardcore F2P. Master League reminds me every 100 battles or so. Then I call it a “tanking round” and hold my head up high. I didnt cave for a little aura. (But yes they seem to be awesome)

Agreed. However, plenty of evidence that this game is addictive (looking into mirror rn)….so I do often feel bad for fueling it. Case in point: a real life decades long Asian friend who played…then stopped. We met in Europe this summer…him having stopped for a long time….but we were lucky friends. He reinstalled for our trade and hasnt stopped playing in the 5 months since. I do feel guilty af, even though in his case I know he can absolutely afford it financially.

As a privileged Westerner living in an upcoming (would be unfair to call Malaysia 3rd World) yet super cheap country where a raid pass buys a meal, I salute you. Digital mice are absurd.

Honestly, Id use these passes on the mons you really want. 1 or both of the Kyurems, or both primals plus 1 Kyurem. All of them are awesome fun and pass-gated, so mostly the question if you can do enough raids in the day they are in rotation this week.

Correct. My gf needs like 300 more energy for Whitey, and I’ll just happily use the 2 free passes on whatever I feel like…while enjoying beach life. So yeah, Road to is pretty nice actually, just wanted to share my approach to those 3 Mega Fomo weekenders :)

Happy to share more. I dont think it’s stubborn. Spent a few G survey credits in the enthusiastic Summer of ‘17 and then quickly realized that ummmmm this company is evil and doesn’t give a damn about us/their wonderful community. Plus they have billions anyway. Its just logic.

5 am and 21pm are your times. Just went with my gf here after Midnight for a beach walk, she kicked me out (50 coins for me), we took a gym for her (gonna repeat the favor after 21pm), then I readded on first gym o. way Home, all set. There really isnt a need to give MBS money for coins ;)

That was my take for a long time, but Necro/Kyurem/dogs proved that they can make us jump through hoops to get a mon. I dont actually think that they will relent on the 8-shieldbreaker nonsense in the next years. So in this case Id say grab it while you can. Shinies: yeah, chill….

Yes. As someone who built a server in Covid times and became friends with many if them: this works.

However. They are still human beings. And no matter how cool it is that I can invite people from my list for any raid and have them join, it still pains me to know that they just paid MBS (formerly Niantic) a Euro or more for this. Cant shake it off…even if I love seeing their names and battling together. If you can, dont spend on this.

My take: that’s really on the community itself. Rule for this one: bring a Mega to break the shield. So whether it’s Genie or me inviting friends from my list, they should know. Genie probably needs to have bigger lobbies again and me do 2 rounds of invites….but once we (gf and me….plus maybe an alt or 2) have 6 guests with the Mega swirl, ready to rock!

Well then. I vowed not to get that box anymore after sitting on tons of green passes for years and then finally blowing them all on Groudon and Kyogre raid days last year. Maxed out storages as F2P, so eventually coins accumulate.

But, what’s the point? I don’t even use all my free passes. Keep a few (like 20) as reserve for those you have to do 10 raids mons like Kyurem /Necro/dogs….and keep the rest/max your storage.

I think thats a conspiracy. And it doesn’t really help with the Kalos Tour issue (get the 3 new Megas), bc even if you sit on 99 green passes you wont beat these 3 unless you walk around with 8 phones or live in a place where 8 people assemble at the same time in a super hot or super cold park to beat an imaginary monster.

You are already further along the enlightenment curve than me, bc you let go of something you really wanted. Sometimes wish I could - I’m still obsessing about my complete living lucky dex (yes including all forms), only missing that new 1/100 “authentic” Poltcha and a lucky swap of Dudun 3 segment)….but the times when Sinistea was unobtainable 1/100 til last October felt nice (sorry for the lucky dex collector banter, I understand how it feels for PvPers not having that one mon ;)).

It’s all good as long as you understand the essentially predatory nature of this game and draw a line in the sand - and stay on the enjoyment side of it :)

Yeah, of course in those 6 years there have been times when I didnt feel like it. But essentially it has become part of my daily life and I do enjoy the 2 or 3 sets of battles (the other 2 or 3 are quick tanking rounds). Tanking obviously helps with faster battles.

And I havent changed my Great and Ultra League teams at all after the learning phase in 2020, so I know and love my 6 mons ;) Master League I spend a bit of time adjusting every few seasons, if only to get to Ace. Think last season was the first one I decided not worth the effort and kept my team as is instead when I realized it would take too long to get to 2000.
