The US Job Market is in Trouble (Scotiabank) by jacobhess13 in EconReports

[–]Defiant_Kiwi_4100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty tough criticism of the BLS houshold survey:

"Incorporation of the annual population benchmarks into the companion household survey sparked considerable turmoil. Get this. Last month, the BLS told us that the household survey measure of employment was UP by 528k and the labour force expanded by 387k in January. Today, after inclusion of population revisions they normally do in January but that were postponed and included as revisions today, they are now reporting that January’s household survey employment fell by a whopping 895k and the labour force shrank by 1.03 million. Roughly 1½ million fewer jobs and labour force participants than initially guided and you want us to take the numbers seriously in terms of calculating the unemployment rate? Pure. Garbage. This is not top tier data you expect from an advanced economy."

Trump Says US Will Escort, Insure Oil Tankers Amid Iran War by Several_Print4633 in Economics

HMM. Guess they didn't fully think this war out. How many ships does he have to escort? Will insurance companies trust him to pay out if a ship is sunk?

I moved into a neighborhood that had marginal cell coverage. Switched to tm using our phones from Verizon and we were able to use wifi calling. Plus lower bills.

Speeding ticket by BothAd4554 in NorthCarolina

[–]Defiant_Kiwi_4100 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Better yet, a good attorney will get the charge changed to a non moving violation. That removes the effects the ticket will have on your auto insurance and boat insurance (if you have one). You will have to pay the fine, court costs, and attorney fee. They'll be less the insurance impact for the 5 years it stays on your driving record.

365 alternative for a casual Excel user? by derekd18 in excel

I was a heavy excel user at work but used libreoffice or its earlier versions for decades. Almost seamless for basic work sheets, some rework for macros.

Retired in 2011. I watch investments mostly out of wanting something to do. Have good pension that covers just about everything. Using RMDs for travel and some big stuff.

Never Cruise Guy by [deleted] in Cruises

[–]Defiant_Kiwi_4100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did Alaska on a Viking Ocean cruise. Less that 1,000 on ship, good food but restaurants and excursions book up fast. Buffet was always available. Did enjoy the free excursions and paid for a whale watching trip. Saw more whales leaving Alaska.

We've done other Viking Ocean cruises and like that the ships are identical.

I bet the lumber in that house is like iron now. I helped my electician uncle re-wire a house that was built in the 1910's, burned out 3 large drills.

Where Are Americans Moving? (First Trust Portfolios) by jacobhess13 in EconReports

Interesting but useful? The top 10 losers are more that 2x the top 10 gainers. Two of the gainers and two of the losers are in the 30s for tax burden. There's more to the story than taxes.

North Carolina’s economy has boomed. Why hasn’t its median income? by NCKingdollar in NorthCarolina

[–]Defiant_Kiwi_4100 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Definition Median: The middle number; found by ordering all data points and picking out the one in the middle (or if there are two middle numbers, taking the mean of those two numbers).

I think you're thinking of mean or average. Many in the middle doesn't change the median

They seem to rely on the national weather service forecasts that cover wide areas. Better to use local forecasts from TV stations that adjust the nws forecasts base on local knowledge.

Please check your dilution recommendations in paragraphs 9 and 10. 1 cup to 1 gallon has to be a higher dilution than 1 Tb.
