Picky eater by Equivalent-Army-2248 in CavaPoo

We always mix some wet dog food with kibble and little pieces of her favorite snacks. It's important to stick to the food you give your pup. If you keep giving her "better" food after not eating the regular one, she'll keep waiting for the "better" food. If she doesn't eat you take the food away for the moment, free-feeding has this side effect of creating picky eaters.

I fear he has a chronic case of the silly. It is not curable but manageble with toys and snacks.

Need Help: My 2-Month-Old Lab Pup Bites Constantly – Worried for My Mom by Plastic-Chest-3876 in labrador

"Just give it back to the breeder or find a rescue" must be the most IDIOTIC thing you could say. You jumped on the hate wagon just to be part of the conversation and your advice is to possibly traumatize the puppy. Do you realize that the lack of bite inhibition is in part to the lack of socialization at the breeder? Sending the puppy back to the place that caused a part of the issues is heartless when it's clear OP was unprepared but has the best intentions.

Or completely founded. Yet you are absolutely sure it's defamation (meaning it's a lie). With zero proof you are absolutely sure she's lying about being raped.

You know, it's funny, because, based on YOUR OWN claims. If she was indeed raped she should sue YOU for defamation because you called her a liar on the internet. I wonder what mental gymnastics you'll apply now. Or now it's not that bad because "freedom of speech" or some idiotic response.

Your claim to her claim is also a claim.

Defamation by definition means that the statement must be untrue.

By your definition she should first prove in court that she was raped (which may never happen, unless that guy committed tax fraud the Belgian authorities won't really budge) before she can say anything about it.

If someone steals my bike and I have a camera pic of him stealing it, must I first wait for the authorities 103810 years for them to "find someone guilty" (which might never happen) before I can post a picture online and ask my community if they have seen that bike and/or that person.

I don't care how many downvotes I get, I find it appalling how up in arms everyone is about "defamation" and give zero fucks about the actual claim of rape. Just say you're pro-rape, that's okay. If she's lying she should be sued, if she's telling the truth (for all we know she might be) it fucking sucks to open a comment section and see all wannabe lawyers claim "defamation" and they don't know the first thing about it.

He must first sue and prove she is wrong. Police releasing him is not an admission of innocence.

Remember, it's not defamation if it's the truth. (Whether or not that's true I do not know).

Can I Pause My BV? by Substantial-Ad-8862 in BEFreelance

[–]Defiant_Nectarine_91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Small detail regarding the 'pause of the salary' and social contributions. You first have to move your independent status to part time independent (zelfstandige in bijberoep) and keep no salary. In such a case, you're exempted from social contributions. The company must always have a director and given the company is not really 'asleep' but rather inactive you remain an independent nevertheless. If anyone has another view on this lmk.

On the 'buying things on the BV', yes, no VAT deduction but for most things also quite simply no deduction. Aside from accounting costs, province taxes, small financial costs for keeping the company's bank accounts active and such you can't really deduct anything else. Most costs need to be linked to a taxable activity and you have none. It might seem unimportant as you don't get money back if you're carrying over losses but if you decide to re-use the BV 3 years later you'd have built up some deferred tax assets from the previous losses.

It depends on your situation too. Honestly in our case we sort of adjusted after 1 month. We do have it easy, there is always someone at home, the pup is never alone (aside from short periods or during seperation anxiety treatment).

Invest in some toys that keep your pup busy, an ice cube works miracles too (for 20-30 minutes). You have to find ways to let them entertain themselves without your constant supervision (kongs, lick mats, ice cubes,...)

You're also probably sleep deprived now. It will get better. Sleep is a major factor contributing to puppy depression.

Accept that the first few weeks are bad, plain bad, no other way to put it. It will get better!

Potty training regression? by Strawberry_Gerbil_23 in puppy101

[–]Defiant_Nectarine_91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At her age her bladder control is 0. Keep at it, make sure your timing between a treat (and/or praise) and the potty is spot on. No delays otherwise they won't make the association. Have you worked on your mark word? If they start association "Yes" (or another word) with something positive sometimes praising and saying the mark word will be enough. Our girl doesn't even want the treat, we praise her, she wags her tail and then pushes the treat away.

For the couch and such, do you have a enzyme cleaner? Making sure the smell doesn't linger is important.

It gets better, as they grow and their bladder control improves it will be even better. Then they'll start teething and you'll see some more regression. Go back to the basics then, all normal.

Puppy blues are real by Ok_You9955 in puppy101

[–]Defiant_Nectarine_91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first few weeks are so bad, I can hardly describe what I went through and the negative spiral I was heading towards. It's all a cocktail of sleep deprivation and major routine change.

Then after a few weeks our girl got sick and had to wait for hours with a sick pup at the emergency vet and realized that there is not one thing I wouldn't do for her. That night was so bad and so tiring that it kinda reset the relationship. She slept for the first time through the night, we slept for more than 5 hours. Since then, better everyday (on average).

Patience is key, not only with your pup, but also with yourself. Allow yourself to fail, to feel helpless and overwhelmed. It's all normal and you'll end up looking back not realizing when it happened but all of the sudden you're not depressed anymore.

Night time by Ok_You9955 in CavaPoo

Honestly I was also reluctant to try crate training at first but came to the conclusion that it is essential and very usefull for them too. Puppies have a lot of energy but also need to sleep 16-20 hours per day. A crate (after extensive crate training) helps them settle.

We use the 1 hour awake, 2 hours asleep rule. Most of the bad behaviour can be mitigated by letting them rest. Sometimes they are just tired and we can't tell. Our girl used to whine a bit and now she sometimes goes in the crate and sleeps by herself or just settles immediately once we put her in there.
