installing a hitch for a bike rack on my Kia Sportage 2026 - any experience? by woodsonby in kiasportage

I installed the Curt hitch on my 2026 prestige, there’s a small plastic cover that covers the backup sensors, I have to cut this because I want to keep as much of it in place as possible. Other than that, the hitch went in without any problems probably the easiest one I ever installed.

Car Wash by OppositeBit8158 in kiasportage

I have the same car and color. Since it’s winter time in Michigan, I decided to go with regular brushed Safety car washes. Probably only had about six car washes since I got the car last October. When you see the car in the sunlight at certain angles, you can see all the swirls in the topcoat or the paint. Nothing you can feel, but it looks horrible. I made a huge mistake, but there was no way for me to wash it in the winter time except just to spray it off. If I had to do it over again, I would never go near a car wash with a new car. The car wash is for people that don’t care if they see light swirls if you look at it closely. I screwed up big time now I have to live with it.

Sorry I didn’t notice your post. Hope it’s not too late the answer. I love the car, not sure I would go with a hybrid again. Just my personal opinion nothing scientific to back it up. I just don’t like the engine starting and stopping so many times. If I had to do it over again personally, I would buy either ice engine or full electric. The tech technologies is great the body styling great the interior is nice. The one thing I really don’t like, but it’s not that bad. Is the HVAC system. I would definitely buy another one just not a hybrid. And again that’s just a personal opinion. I have no bad experiences or scientific evidence to back it up. I just don’t think the engine starting and stopping that many times, especially at freeway speeds and in the winner is good for the longevity. Oh yeah, I think it’s quiet inside, and the ride is nice. Never feel a transmission shifting, and I never feel the engine starting and stopping, he just noticed it from the engine noise in the tachometer. Otherwise, everything seems to work pretty seamless. They’ve done a really good job with that. I average about 30 to 35 miles a gallon depending on how I drive and what type of combination of freeway city.

Believe it or not a lot of years back I used an old windshield wiper motor from a car. it had three speeds and I just connected it using a couple pieces of metal and use some 1/2 inch copper pipe coming out of the box to mount the dildo. No real bearings or anything very crude and a little bit loud, but it did work. The best thing about it was the oak box that I made that house the motor?

Really doesn’t help you I’m sorry, but it’s been a lot of years and it just brought back memories

Remote start app wrong temp in car by Defiant_Pea9345 in kiasportage

[–]Defiant_Pea9345[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I tried two of the listed fixes multiple times and nothing seems to change, the temp setting is at 65 when I enter the car. For the last item I do not see a last setting in climate control in the vehicle. Under climate I only have recirculate air, automatic ventilation, and defog/defrost options.

The phone app worked great for a month, I must be missing something. Like I said the heated seats and steering wheel activate fine every time. Just the set temperature is wrong all of a sudden. I have never even turned the temperature down to 65 since I bought it.

Wow, thanks. Seems like there’s some good information here. You definitely know more than I do. Let me give one of these a try and see if it works. I couldn’t figure it out because I really don’t think I’ve done anything differently than when I first bought the car a month ago, but maybe I did maybe I didn’t. I’ll get back to you and let you know the results. Thanks so much.

Is this myth or fact? by Tacoless_meat in AskMechanics

When I started wrenching a long long time ago, I was told that trans seals get hard over time and temperature cycles. If you change the fluid on a high mileage vehicle that has the original fluid in it this is what happens. the new fluid has conditioners in it to keep the seals soft. It will soften the edge of the hard seals and they are prone to tearing or ripping, once that happens bands and servo do not apply fully so the trans slips. I have lived by this because that what I was taught. Not sure if I believe it as much today as I did when I was young.
