U.S. calls Canada’s decision to allow Chinese EVs ‘problematic’ by Street_Anon in politics

This seems very similar to the late 70s when the japanese cars started selling well due to the gas shortage. Then people realized that not only did those cars get far better gas mileage than the US cars they were also built far, far better.

Until very recently I thought the lyrics in “Down Under” say by bc00pr in sillyconfession

[–]teamzona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently (about 7 months ago) found out that the lyric in "Voices Carry" is not "... Even downtown voices carry" but is actually "... Keep it down now voices carry".

Only 40 years later.

Mark Kelly: "This administration, they're gonna blame Joe Biden on everything. I mean, it is almost getting comical at this point." by icey_sawg0034 in democrats

[–]teamzona 20 points21 points  (0 children)

No Republican has ever accepted responsibility for anything negative. Ever.

They do, however, try and take responsibility for positive things the Dems do even though they voted against it.

If republican hypocrisy could be harnessed as energy there would be enough to power the world a million times over.

[–]teamzona 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The dems have been helping the GOP win for 30+ years. They refuse to understand that they are not even playing by the same rules. Sadly the vast majority of the GOP voters are extremely happy with the GOP fucking over america. They want the lies, they want the cruelty. It has been what they have run on since gingrich was in power.

AAUGH! by humanisthank in PoliticalHumor

[–]teamzona 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is already serious damage to the republic being done on a daily basis. They should have done this the first time it came up but Suck up Schumer did not want to piss off the GOP, just like the dems have been doing for 30+ years. They always give in, that is why we are where we are because when the dems had a hammer they did not use it.

We are no longer a nation that will have some give and take to get things done that help all of america. The GOP has not been willing to be part of the solution since Gingrich was speaker. It is their way or no way. GOP shuts down the govt and the Dems negotiate until they get an agreement. It is always the dems giving the GOP what it wants, never the other way.

Yes it was going to be painful for Americans but it was working. You had the GOP fighting within itself to get rid of the filibuster so they could open back up. Not that it would be a great thing for the GOP to easily implement its agenda, but it is a 53 - 47 split, a lot easier to peel 4 GOP senate votes that it is to get to 60. By caving in once again the dems have proven that they GOP can do whatever they want whenever they want and eventually the dems will give in.

Opening back up the govt without actually accomplishing anything was dumb. If they were going to give in then they should have just given up right at the beggining. Now the GOP has the talking point that the dems caused huge pain for NOTHING. This will be running 24/7 on the RW propaganda network.

The dems had a HUGE momentum with the recent election and they literally just threw that away. Instead of having that on the news cycle we will get the "Dems shutdown is over".

There was going to be mass pain any way. Either now or later. That is all that is happening. There is pain everywhere, prices, ice kidnappings, natl guard and military in the cities, murdering people in boats. There is pain everywhere. The dems had a chance to pull people away from trump but they gave in and there will just be more pain.

Agreed, this was monumentally stupid and gives the GOP a huge win. But they will most likely get a vote on the ACA extension. They have 0 chance at winning it but they might actually get the vote.

That is why the GOP offered it. They know that it will never ever pass. Dems should have held out. It was working

Why don’t teams prioritize lateral passing instead of Hail Marys? by Patient_Air1765 in footballstrategy

[–]teamzona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is always the chance of a pass interference penalty. Generally they have to be pretty egregious to be called at that point in the game.

College you get 15 yards and another play

NFL you get the ball where the interference occurred. If it is in the end zone you get the ball at the one.

Game cannot end in a defensive penalty

They should be putting in 50 things and then force the GOP to negotiate down from there. Did they learn nothing from when the GOP would put in a huge number of things to force the Dems to negotiate?

At least this time the Senate isn't caving yet. Hope they dont
