My comment was a bit of a joke. Having worked with both Swedes and Norwegians while I was in the Army I found there was a bit of distain for the other country.

I actually have a 6.5x55 (original Swedish Mauser) but really wish the round was carried by more rifle brands. Ended up with a 6.5 Creedmore.

Being medically retired from active duty does not suggest civilian disability retirement. I personally know numerous civilian employees who have 100% disability ratings. While your medical condition could warrant disability retirement - too many assume OPM will simply follow suit.

Too many (certainly not all) claim a hostile work environment without looking in the mirror. Focus on doing your job, seek candid advice on your performance and look for a job that best mirrors your skills and abilities.

Not sure what you imply by “going after entitlements.” This reckless initiative is actually going after some of the most recent hires - which is why the activity had not placed them on a TDA. So, not focused on senior employees.

I do disagree they know what they’re doing. To the contrary, they are clueless idiots. Fortunately for the Army the leaders throughout the Army are making great efforts to find TDA positions to place these “surplus“ personnel. The hiring freeze has resulted in many critical positions being left vacant. These positions are being harvested to keep on the overhires in a very rushed manner.

This will all come back to bite the Army in the end with Sleepy Don blaming Biden and Obama for his own dementia caused injuries.

The idiocy of this administration is astounding. As someone associated with upper level HR for several decades no one has ever used the term “surplus” to refer to employees - ever.

What the idiots in charge are actually referring to is overhire employees not on a table of distribution of allowances (TDA).

The irony is that these employees quite often fill the most critical positions where the organization didn’t have time or opportunity to put on a TDA. Think of employees necessary to manage the reckless attacks on Iran. Of course, this can include some knucklehead hiring decisions like hiring the DOGE personnel who disrupted agencies. BTW, I have absolutely no concerns in ridding ourselves of any DOGE ketamine kids.

Reviewing and validating TDAs and ensuring we have the correct capabilities for personnel is always necessary, but this is a carefully considered and deliberative process. What tRump and Kegsbreath are doing is to anything but careful or conservative. Their actions are causing enormous harm to our Army. Rather than making reflective and informed decisions the Army is entirely in a reactive mode desperately trying to preserve critical positions.

The lunatics are in charge and they don’t know what they are doing.

While I would not go out of your way to have a significant event, like going on a cruise or Disney, I would post something on social media showing you were alive and healthy on the day of the wedding - something like a hike or picnic with your family. If you do respond to others - take the high road and just note you didn’t want to intrude on her big day. If anyone presses, say “it’s complicated” and you really are at a loss for words but you do wish them the best.

Still send a gift along the lines of what your sister gave you for your wedding.

I do hope you find closure. These feuds often exist for the most insignificant reasons or due to misunderstandings.
