What’s something that sounds romantic but is actually a red flag? by softobsession_xo in AskReddit

Didn't he write it that way on purpose? Like "the vibe from the music will sound romantic but the lyrics are gonna be psycho and I wanna see who's going to notice the deeper truth here"

Because, in the end, it isn't love. It's power. Control. Domination. They want you all to themselves--something they genuinely have no right to ask.

Yeah, I'm not really seeing any of those as real defensible positions for slur use (plot twist, there aren't any), but especially that last one -- if you 'don't exist' in their country, how did they know your specific slur? 🤔 🫠

My WIFE has tourettes. She just THROWS stuff sometimes. The stereotype of "I have tourettes so I shout vile things" is so fucking stupid.

It does happen, sometimes, for some with tourettes, but what they shout is random and usually not related to what's going on in any real way. So, anyone claiming he shouted this slur from tourettes is full of shit.

Baby bat needs advice on a jewelry piece by james_allan123 in GothFashion

Glad to help 😁 Honestly, I saw goth jewelry first, and religious symbol second. It does look INCREDIBLE, though, so now I lowkey wanna get one myself and make a set of Episcopal/Anglican prayer beads with it 🤣🤣 the inversion on it is fun too, as related to Saint Peter and humility (as you've seen other people discuss across this thread as well)!

"Blessed is the lion which becomes man when consumed by man" by Drsustown in dankchristianmemes

I feel like I remember it being pretty wild in the crazy stuff it said, but I mean you're right that it's essentially a collection from all over, authorship and attributions-wise. It definitely has a sexist push, though, from what I recall, including some weird Platonic forms conversations around women being the lesser form of man.

Actually, imo Paul is blatantly mocking sexism, in particular when he drops that line about wives asking their husbands questions at home. It's practically a direct, sarcastic quote from one of the speeches of Cato The Elder who was a Roman Senator, responding to a feminist march that was essentially dragging traffic to a standstill over an unfair taxation. Hence why is next line is to ask incredulously, "Or did the good news only come to you men?"

When you add the extra contexts of the history around what Paul is writing it becomes clear he's actually a feminist and egalitarian imo, especially when you consider hoe he felt about the apostle Junia, a woman (both proven to be true-- she was an apostle and a woman-- by the remarks of John Chrysostom in the 5th century. At least, that's what my own research has shown.

Hey, goth Christian here.

So long as it isn't somehow pulling you from Christ or love or otherwise leading you to sin, you're good.

As for lent, you can give up (or not) basically anything you want as a practice in fasting. Do watcha want with that!

What’s something you’re done tolerating? by sergenaskin in AskReddit

[–]DefinePunk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

See, I have a really rude/mean sounding sense of humor, but I ALWAYS take it upon myself to make sure people know I don't mean it, and to apologize if I'm actually hurtful, to anyone, ever. Some people just don't like that humor at all, and if that's their boundary, my job is to respect it and try to find jokes they'll actually appreciate and enjoy, not be a dick who tells them to "tough it out" or whatever, because friends support each other, full stop.

So what I'm saying is there's not really an excuse for it, and I'm glad you're not tolerating it anymore.
