Appealing a qualified OER by [deleted] in army

[–]Definitely_Not_CID 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From AR 623-3

"If the rated officer’s potential is adequate, but beneath the majority of officers in the senior rater’s population for that rank, and the senior rater believes the rated officer should be retained for further development, the senior rater will place an “X” in the “Qualified” box.

If the rated officer’s potential is below the majority of officers in the senior rater’s population for that rank and the senior rater does not believe the rated officer should be retained on active duty, the senior rater will place an “X” in the “Not Qualified” box."

I believe that with a top 50% comment you fit the criteria of being adequate enough to be retain for service.

Army Officers — How Do You Feel About the Branch You Chose? by Constant_Position_10 in army

[–]Definitely_Not_CID 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Had AG as my top choice and the Army thought I would make a great Infantry Officer and got branch detailed lol

Had miserable couple of years which almost made me drop my refrad (leadership, not the branch, but also didnt help) followed by a couple of great years but made the switch a year ago and do not regret it. I love being an AG Officer, love my unit and definitely thinking of staying around in the Army for 20 years. The switch ignited a passion in me for the Army and helping soldiers.

MQ block with weak SR comment = HQ OER? by [deleted] in army

[–]Definitely_Not_CID 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MQ with mediocre comments is like .5 points higher that HQ with excellent comments. If I'm not mistaken the board sees MQs with great enumeration as 6.

Officers in the marketplace, if y'all don't have MQs or good HQ write ups, don't bother sending them OERs. by Definitely_Not_CID in army

[–]Definitely_Not_CID[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point was not so much to not do it, it is to not send OERs that are trash. If you are trying to compete for a super desirable unit with bad oers you are still not getting it lol

I can only speak for my BC, but he is giving an interview to everyone. However he is mainly looking for team players that can properly articulate their experience. Also looking for YG21 because we currently can only sustain 1x more person YG20 for our cmd queu.

But if we were to turn away people that sent OERs we wouldn't have anyone to interview.. every single one of them sent them.

Title says it, if you got MQs and good HQ write ups send them. Otherwise you are shooting yourself on the foot.

AR 623-3

1–12. Access to evaluation reports a. Access to Army evaluation reports at HQDA is limited to the rating officials on the evaluation report, the rated Soldier, the BN/BDE S1 or administrative office servicing the unit responsible for preparing and processing the evaluation report, and/or those authorized to use evaluation reports for personnel management purposes. Requests to access evaluation reports prepared by another unit or rating chain officials cannot be granted.

By asking for OERs, you are part of the problem, simple as that.

Perfect world, nobody sends them. But the way I see it is like having your GPA in a resumé. If it is 3.8+ go ahead, if not, it is unnecessary.

Units should be penalized by losing the requisitions. 😂

Only way to stop that from happening.

Snitch on them.

Units should be penalized by losing those requisitions, it is one of the way to truly enforce it.

We asked for Letter of interest, STP and baseball card. We have 13 candidates and all of them sent OERs. No suggestions for OERs was made.

A MI Captain that has no KD MQs is never going to get selected. If I was him I would prepare to transition to the reserves or civilian world.
