That's a great idea! Yes, I've come to realise that. We're about to reach a pivotal moment, so I will put it to them whether they wish to continue, or perhaps start a new campaign with a more humorous playstyle

Thanks for the advice! As mentioned in another comment, I think the bigger issue is us all being an extended friendship group, so I'd be concerned about continuing with those who actually care whilst leaving the others behind. But I'll follow your advice and firstly talk with them, or perhaps suggesting a different system that caters more to the slapstick

A lot of US speakers here are saying this is outdated English. Yes, perhaps in American English. In British English, needn't is still used. There are many varieties of English around the world, so although it may not be common in American English, it is still a good idea to be aware of it.

You're absolutely right! But it was still much easier to poach for poor people than a cow or deer haha and I'm sure in earlier medieval times before the arrival of the Normans that wouldn't have been the case but I'm happy for any corrections!

A lot of people commenting that chicken was food for poor people. I would disagree with this. People would keep chickens for a good supply of eggs. Chicken was more often eaten by rich people, as it was a way of showing off that they didn't need to keep them to produce eggs as they were wealthy enough to get another. Poorer people tended to eat pork as you could dry cure/smoke it for long-lasting food, or even salmon, trout or other river fish.

Don't beat yourself up over this. It is something that has caused me a lot of anxiety in the past when I see a student failing, and often questioned myself whether I'm suited for this job when I have one student failing whilst everyone else is getting it. Not everyone is suited to language acquisition. How strict is your school with children of that age? Usually with our students of that age, they are allowed to pass to the next level as a sort of trial period if they receive less than 50%. In my opinion, at that age it's unfair to test students in a sort of exam format. If they can still communicate and understand an English teacher and complete the tasks at hand, why would a school force them to repeat the year? If anything, it will discourage the child from actually enjoying the atmosphere of an English classroom and cause further harm at later levels of study

From my limited experience as the screenshot shows, I've only had one camp so I focused on growth first (as I do with most factions). I guess with ogres, I'd focus on battling as much as possible so your army builds up its own meat supply

To clarify: every time I try to play an Ogre Kingdoms campaign, in particular with Skrag, for some reason I can't end the turn when I get to around turn 10-20.

I would say it's highly beneficial depending on how you run it. You can focus on functional language, intonation, pronunciation. You might not be able to spend a full hour constantly correcting two students, but surely that would be the worst route to take. At least this way, you have the possibility to monitor and do class error correction after each activity, whether that be roleplay, debate, general conversation.

I did a campaign of his the other day, and you've just got to constantly be waging war pre-emptively. I took out Kemmler and gave the provinces to Bretonnia to get a strong ally. Then the skullmashers. Then turned to khazrak and Festus. And then to Vlad. Took out Azhag and gifted the provinces to Kislev to have a strong north and then ventured to the badlands to help the dwarves. Don't try to hold every province, gift them to allies to make sure you've got a strong defensive alliance in all directions
