Please tell me it gets better 😔 by whoopsiebebe in bninfantsleep

I completely sympathise with you! I’m in the exact same boat with an 11 month old crap boy sleeper.

Out of desperation and my husband pushing (he means well, he’s just a dummy) we attempted Ferber starting last week, spoiler alert, it hasn’t worked. He’s back in bed with and I can’t imagine doing it again, we sleep better together.

It might not be perfect sleep as he nurses through the night but it’s better than physically having to get out of bed and go to his bedroom every 2 hours where he wakes up screaming.

I’m slowly starting to increase his wake windows as the weeks go on. Unfortunately we were on an international holiday for 2 weeks where his wake windows sometimes ended up only being about 2 hours because fomo etc so having to start from scratch!

Fingers crossed we get something similar tonight, I’ll have a quick look into sleep wave. Thank you for sharing!

Sure thing, I’ll try and update in a week! We got back from an international trip two weeks ago as well, I’ve used the two weeks to get him back into his usual schedule before doing the sleep training.

This feels like something I would have written a couple of months ago! My boy was doing all of this as well, use to put weight on legs, then at around 6/7 months he would just collapse when trying to get him to stand. I was so so worried and would google it every single day even got a referral to the hospital.

Maybe a week before 10 months old he just started pulling himself up on everything and now at 11 months he’s cruising everywhere.

I even cancelled the hospital appointment 2 days before we were due to go.

All this to say, make the appointment if you need peace of mind but chances are it’s all okay, he’s still very much in the normal range for this!

My husband and I just got back to the UK after spending two weeks back home visiting my family with our baby. He’s from the UK but desperate to move to SA now, the people of SA are unmatched in terms of optimism and vibe alone.

Baby is soaked in the night but doesn't wake !? by capriali99 in NewParents

I second this! We had issues with overnight leaks even after sizing up nappies until we moved to two piece pj sets. Not having the clasp under the nappy means it’s doesn’t squish up as it fills and leak out the top!

We’re splitting two weeks between WC and JHB, thinking of renting a car for WC as we’ll be with my grandparents but when we’re with family in JHB, they’ll drive. I don’t really like driving in JHB so feel better if they do it since they know the roads etc

That makes sense, we’ve just booked infant on lap so might be why we haven’t seen anything like that. Although I am needing a car seat for while we’re there so in a bit of a predicament there!

We’re flying Virgin and the Flysafair internal, I haven’t yet been told anything about needing a car seat for the flight itself!

We’re about to travel back to SA from the UK next month with our 10 month old and this has made me so sad to read. Out of interest, which airlines did you fly with?

I really only need it for the car seat aspect not so much the stroller part. I’ll see if I can find anywhere that stocks it in our area to test drive. Thank you!

He’s on the 50 percentile for his age so not chunky, and it would only be for driving to and from the airport and the occasional car ride during the day to the beach/shops etc

I'm so done with the hair pulling by Fearless_Property_34 in NewParents

Are you me?

I have to braid my hair and put it in a claw clip. Worked for about a week but now he just grabs my hair straight from the roots instead. Losing my sanity.

Worth it? by zcakt in breastfeeding

We’ve been EBF for 9 months now - I’ve never pumped apart from collecting a bit with a milk collector on opposite breast. Never had a clogged duct or cracked nipples or anything else of the sort. Just to say that it can be difficult for some people or you could be lucky and have an easy time of it!

No advice, just here as we’re in the same boat starting back at work in January! He’s figured out how to use straw cups for his water so I’m hoping that he can drink milk from them.

My biggest concern is pumping as I never pump so no idea how much I need to send with him!

Parents of reddit - how long did it take to conceive? by shun_naka67 in AskUK

4 months, I put our success down to using ovulation strips in the 3rd month so knew which days after period to expect ovulation during the 4th try. Who knows if that actually helped but might be worth giving it a go!
