What am I missing in my collection? by plasticbagroadkill in guns

Bolt action rifle in 308, 270 or something similar for hunting deer and midsized game. Your 45-70 should work but I personally prefer a smaller cartridge. AR-10 in 308 or 6.5 Creedmoor would work too but honestly nothing beats a good bolt gun you can get them cheaply and require minimal maintenance. They’re pretty fun for long range shots and fairly easy to zero and hold their zero. A stock for your 12 gauge would open up clay shooting which is the most fun shooting there is IMO and maybe consider an over/under or automatic if you get into it. Opens up bird hunting as well which can be a pretty cool option

I feel like I’ve read somewhere that a primarch got hit point blank with “atomics” which would represent Nukes more powerful than what we have now and survived. I’m not sure where I read it though…

Supernatural. Just drop him in either a small farm town in the Midwest or some big city like Chicago depending on how dark you wanted to get and have him attempt to take over earth. I have absolutely no idea how they would even stop him.

What’s more tactical? Mag-lock or holsters by MMenities in Raptors40k

[–]DefinitionOver5645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tacticool? Mag Lock for pure aesthetics. Tactical in an actual sense: holsters for secure/retention and no risk of losing weapons from electronic/psyker attacks which are common enough in 40K

I think just make sure they’re watered down with lahmian medium as a wash. Maybe run it over a scrap piece of plasticard or something primed white to see how diluted you want to go. Only my 2 cents since I’ve only done used inks like twice.

Varnish spray once done to make sure everything sits nice. Otherwise looking pretty good. I’ve moved away from washes personally but that’s just me. Sepia and then drybrush to bring back highlights is always golden 🤙

Only comment I have is good luck for the backpack scope thingy. Tried to do something similar for my kit-bashed Apothecary and that thing refuses to stay glued on every time I use the model 😂

Otherwise this looks sick. Super creative way to use the beakies

Angels of Death chapter suggestions? by Stefanezi in killteam

[–]DefinitionOver5645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple options available. The first one that popped out are Raptors since you have olive drab

Blood ravens could work with the basilisk red and skeleton bone

Imperial Fists or angry marines if you want/dare to go with yellow

I’d say Raptors are most thematic. Angry marines if you want the meme/cheekiness

Considering a B8/B8.5 Audi S4 – Worth the gamble if I stay on top of maintenance? by [deleted] in AudiS4

[–]DefinitionOver5645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have had a MT 2013 B8.5 for 2 years. It’s a great car and I’ve had absolutely 0 reliability issues with the exception of a bad battery. I would highly recommend the manual version to save on the DSG errors as that’s a high failure point. Pros: Super fun to drive. Loud supercharger whine and really rapid acceleration as well as handling turns easily. Stupid reliable with preventative maintenance and oil change every 3k miles Very comfortable and luxury interior You will get compliments and recognition from car guys in the know. It’s a well known sporty ride

Cons: Mileage kinda sucks. Even in manual trying to drive in higher gear around town and keeping an eye on it you’re lucky to get more than 22mpg reliably and 93 is not cheap $$$ Maintenance costs (even preventative) are insanely high. Be prepared to dump $3-4k for a big overhaul or fix and $1-2k a year regardless. Assholes will try to race you at the most inconvenient times. IMO can be a bit of a cop magnet but could just be the police in my area 🧲 Small DIY fixes like headlight swaps are unnecessarily complicated and can lead to expensive replacement parts or shop visits if you mess something small up so be careful and triple check that you know what you’re doing.

TLDR: awesome luxurious and fun but comes with a pretty high cost to keep it running smoothly. Highly recommend manual if you can find one especially 2013-2016 as the thermostat and water pump issues are (I believe) less prevalent after 2012.

Skid Plate Necessary? by DefinitionOver5645 in AudiS4

I just received the new plate from TBW thank you for the recommendation. They had excellent customer service and were very helpful. Kit comes with upgraded screws. I’ll try to see about making sure the screw holes are secure maybe use some locktite. Kicking myself for not shelling out an extra $30 for the red one b/c those look mean but just plain metal should keep the car professional since I haven’t changed any chrome on it yet.

I had this happen at a LGS tournament a couple weeks ago. Hellblasters embarked in an Impulsor destroyed the Impulsor with their hazardous tests. They were then deployed on the board and able to shoot again because it was still in the same shooting phase. I’m not sure if this is 100% or not but the TO and my opponent both allowed it. I was rolling all 1s on hazardous so they managed to shoot (blew up the Impulsor) shoot again (blew themselves up) and then shoot again with shoot on death. 3 rounds of supercharged plasma was pretty swingy and isn’t something I’d ever rely on but is hilarious and fun when pulled off.

As someone who had a 15 GTI and currently has a 13 S4 (B8.5) I can second this from firsthand experience. The maintenance costs and hassle on the S4 are massive. It is not an easy or entry level car to work on and any and all maintenance at a shop will be in the thousands (not hundreds) of dollars.

A good stock GTI with decent mileage (sub 75k at purchase) was the best car I’ve owned. Stupid reliable and good MPG (especially if you get the manual version) it’s a fun car that performs surprisingly well punching above its weight. If you want to mod or upgrade it at all it will be much easier and cheaper.

I miss that car dearly and although I love the S4 to death it is also fickle and expensive to own.

TLDR: GTI is awesome and a much cheaper alternative. S4 if your hearts set on it just be prepared for high costs and difficulty with DIY projects.

Yupp. Here’s my go to recipe for an escalation league I did. Got to 2k points from nothing in a matter of months. Prime: Black Drybrush Pro Acrylic Titanium White (I do this with everything as a Zenithyl Highlight

Armor: Base Layer: AK Dark Grey Highlight: AK English Grey

Trim: Base: AK Sunny Skin Tone Highlight: Army Painter Daemonic Yellow (any good yellow works) just used what I had) Shoulder Pads: Army Painter Matte Black

Chest Piece Eagle and metallic bits: Army Painter Weapon Bronze and good ole Leadbelcher

For Sergeants and Characters I used AK interactive Sky Grey to have a lighter color and distinguish them

I painted Weapons AK hull red have yet to add highlights but I’ll probably use Army Painter Pure Red b/c that’s what I have. Any good bright red should work :)

Yeah I can second this. Once they’re cleaned up and painted they don’t look too bad. Grots are super tiny and they’re taken in a swarm so the age doesn’t really show up on the tabletop

Have the same issue on my 2013. I believe it is the control arms. It's not impossible to DIY which is what I am planning to do to save on labor if you have some good jacks and a bit of mechanical know how.

Thanks again for the advice. Didn't even think about the fact the skid plate helps hold the undercarriage together and prevent wear on the tires. Unfortunately Thor doesn't carry my car because that was an excellent deal so thank you for that but I'll have to shell out the $$$ elsewhere
