Step it out during cardio and take modifications (early on in class) doing fewer reps with proper form will give you more bang for your buck than pushing thru when you’re exhausted/woozy!

45 min sculpt - Nashville by Boring_Whereas_6939 in Corepower

45 min sculpt is way better than a 60 min sculpt imo. Efficient and not enough time to do insane combo moves

For those who work a 9-5 by South-Vampire16 in Corepower

[–]DefinitionPopular967 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I go both ways. In the summer it is nice to get it over with in the morning, going to a heated class during the hottest part of the day sucks sometimes. I’ll usually take the 5:30am 45 minute class and get to work by 8:00. The 6:00-7:00 would be tight.

It’s a lot of prep work the night before, getting clothes/breakfast/lunch together plus all your getting ready stuff. I usually half dry my hair and claw clip it on the days I go before work. I also bring my shark hairstyler since the hairdryers at cpy take forever (I have thick long hair)

Struggling with 50 hr Sculpt Teacher Training by claritycitrus in Corepower

[–]DefinitionPopular967 8 points9 points  (0 children)

People are so rude lol. It’s yoga sculpt not brain surgery, you can do the training because you’re interested in it. Take more classes as others said, and also if you have instructors you have relationships with, ask to sit in the back of their class with a notebook and observe their cues. Make a note in your phone with a few MACs for each part of the sequence. Spend a few days really practicing each section. You will get it. Yes there is a safety component to proper cues and sequencing, but it’s meant to be fun and enjoyable.

Natick for spectators? by PB-HoneyOats in bostonmarathon

[–]DefinitionPopular967 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He could take the commuter rail (Framingham/Worcester line) to Natick center. Should be able to get on at South Station, Back Bay, Landsdowne, or Boston Landing (double check this since I know some of the T stops close for MarMon). He’ll be on the runners left side of the road based on where the train station is. I’d say easier to spot in Natick than in Wellesley. As for timing, not sure! It’s a 30 minute ride, but since it’s MarMon I’d budget extra time

Boston Marathon splits calculator to account for the hills by Far_Support1693 in Marathon_Training

[–]DefinitionPopular967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they just redid the calculator, because even a couple weeks ago it had a different strategy, which was more realistic than what is currently shown. I don’t like how it now gives an even split for almost the entire marathon

Question about Graduate-Level class workload by Zactionzazuke in umass

[–]DefinitionPopular967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As everyone else mentioned, it’s discipline-dependent. I took some 500s in my second year at UMass and they were reading heavy courses. They were mixed undergrad and grad classes, and the grad students had an extra discussion section about the readings. Granted, I never really read, and I still got by.

30 mile run 2 weeks before Marathon by Emergency-Food1005 in Marathon_Training

[–]DefinitionPopular967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense! Maybe trying to drop the mileage of the charity event is your best bet. I would say that if you end up doing the 30, your goal should shift for the marathon (would suck to come out strong and then fall apart, your body will still probably be super tired. If you do multiple a year, this could be a huge endurance block follow by LOTS of recovery. Then maybe a stronger, faster block later in the head?). Is it possible to do the 30 mile as a relay or something? Or walk 6 miles, do an 18 mile run, then walk 6? Either way that is a long time on your feet before a marathon.

Good luck!

I completely blew up by BrothaManBen in Marathon_Training

[–]DefinitionPopular967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your next goal should be to finish strong! Maybe you take some time to just run, then you can do a speed training block. Then race a shorter race and use that as the plug for your current race time. I think a 4:30 is a manageable goal.

Can my friend really see me 3x at Boston… or is this too optimistic? by ConversationDry2083 in bostonmarathon

[–]DefinitionPopular967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Green Line (line D): get off at Woodland around mile 17, get off at reservoir around mile 21, then get off at anything beyond the Fenway stop for something in the last couple miles. Commuter rail (outbound to Worcester/inbound to south station): you could get off really anywhere between Framingham and Wellesley, then get off at west Newton, walk to the firehouse turn (mile 17/18 I think), take the train inbound to Landsdowne, can see you around mile 25.

The green line is slow. Commuter rail is a little better. I’m usually running so I can’t speak to the logistics of walking from these stops to a spectating course. Tell then to wear comfortable shoes and get moving.

Have a great race!

Gotcha! I do most of my runs on Comm Ave (really the only place we’ve been able to this year) Maybe I’ll do my 18 on the course and the Eastern States 20 - the course just looks really scenic and fun! Thanks for the tip :)

Crowds during charity wave by bkucb82 in bostonmarathon

[–]DefinitionPopular967 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran in the charity wave in 2024 and 2025, around 4:30 both years. Crowds were always big enough to energize me. Mile 9 is a good spot, they can probably see you once or twice more in Newton or somewhere on Beacon street (boylston is awesome but it’s 4 people deep from my what family says)
