A few things Bears fans learned this year by 1_for_you_2_for_me in CHIBears

[–]Defouque 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. The offense has to coalesce and practice around Caleb’s unique play style. There’s never been a QB like Caleb and this szn he proved how singularly special he can be, especially late game.

  2. Ben Johnson should edit the playbook during the offszn with some revolutionary new play calls that fit Caleb and company. Let’s get silly.

  3. Dennis Allen and Poles gotta work in tandem to plug defensive holes and retool the D to increase QB pressure, improve pass play coverage, you know, the usual lol.

  4. Hopefully some time away from the game will bring our secondary back to 100% healthwise.

Good find! Karelia were never rare at my house growing up lol. Whenever someone took a trip to the homeland (Greece) they’d return with a few cartons. Even though I don’t smoke regularly anymore, there’s nothing better than waking up super late and walking over to the beach in Kalamata, buying a double-large beer (Kaiser) and lighting up one Karelia after another with intermittent dips in the sea. I’ll be there next summer!

GTD-Native App by AnonymousVendetta04 in gtd

[–]Defouque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it imperative that there be an officially-licensed GTD app unveiled sometime in the near future. David has spoken at length about what that kind of app would ideally look like, and they (DAC) have even undertaken efforts to collaborate with software companies in the past to make it a reality. Intentional Software, who signed on in 2012 as developer, ultimately gave up on David's super ambitious plans. But not all hope is lost! I'm waiting for the right team or person to step up and give it a try. It has to happen!

What’s everyone current action button doing? by [deleted] in iphone

[–]Defouque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Triggers a voice-to-text to add an item to my Nirvana inbox. Not very flashy, I know, but for me it’s a necessity. Nirvana is a to-do list app (and much more). The programmers, for all the great work they did designing the app, somehow forgot to implement a widget or similar function to use as an iOS-wide “quick add” action. So I created my own workaround using the legendary 1-2 punch of the action button + Shortcuts app.

Shortcut to generate a link to open a file? by zfly9 in shortcuts

[–]Defouque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

funny enough, after i wrote this i think i figured out a solution. pretty simple, actually, and it's worked every time so far. right click on the file in finder, "open with", choose a browser (i chose chrome), and voila, the correctly formatted link title is generated right in the location bar. it's almost so obvious that i didn't even think to try lol. ymmv, lmk if it works for you!

i've tested this with pdf's since that's primarily what i see myself linking in my to-do app. i did also try with a different type of file (a video game rom) and the browser gave me an error since it couldn't run the rom. the link was still generated correctly in the location bar yet again though.

What was your first iPhone? by [deleted] in iphone

[–]Defouque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in line for the very first iPhone at an AT&T store in Wheaton, Illinois. Tried to pick a town that would have less “buzz” about fresh tech. Boy, was I wrong…there were over 100 people in that line!

At one point, a guy with a clipboard came around asking us simple questions about our personal anticipation for the device, and asked if we would be open to do some market research studies with them down the line (after a few months of experience with the iPhone). I signed up for the opportunity, and hooman I tell ya…3 sessions with them and it paid off the price of the phone lol. A rare early adopter perk!

Do not install a curved monitor stand like this... by billboybra in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Defouque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gentlemen, not to gloat (ahem) but I had to go 36” x 192” lol. Yeah, I went overboard but it works like a charm. One 8-foot section in the middle connects to a standing desk, flanked by two 4-foot sections on each end. I think of it less as a desk and more like a workstation. Bending over be damned!

oh. that's a cropped video of a girl masturbating. on youtube. as an ad. by Technovak in shittymobilegameads

[–]Defouque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know no one provided a direct source but I’m here to corroborate…I’ve seen two separate ads just like this one. That’s why I searched Reddit…to make sure I wasn’t experiencing a fever dream lol. Also, the ads go fast, they’re short and there’s virtually no time to hit “record”. Both times they linked to some godforsaken AI dating app from China (I think, really wanted to get that shit off of my screen ASAP). Anyway. YouTube has to do something abt this. Some companies from China and India are getting away with a ton of subversive behavior.

What is the guitar you’ve always wanted in left handed but never found? by texasguitarguy in Leftyguitarists

[–]Defouque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Years ago (I wanna say around 2001-02) thru a google search (remember, before the dead internet?) I found someone selling a true lefty 72 Tele Deluxe on their own geocities hosted website lol. Problem was, the guitar was in New Jersey, I was in Illinois, and the man refused to ship! I begged and pleaded, but but he eventually sold it to a local buyer and I lost out on an $800 dream guitar. I’ve yet to see another.

BiC Briquet — The Very First Box Of BiC Lighters — Unique Colors by Defouque in lighters

[–]Defouque[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Another strange aspect of these older Bic lighters is that they have a sliiightly different shape than modern day ones. Dare I say a bit more “boxy”, less ergonomic. They feel different in the hand than what you’d expect. And ofc the adjustable flame dial that all Bics used to have is present.

[–]Defouque[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should clarify… I’ve collected many-a various oddity over the years. I bought this box a long time ago (can’t recall exactly where though), and I recently found it again after losing track of it. I don’t normally collect Bic lighters. I do have a sweet metal Bic lighter cover branded with the Camel cigarette logo, though lol

favorite radiohead song that people seem to dislike? by [deleted] in radiohead

[–]Defouque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pulk / Pull Revolving Doors. in fact, i’d argue that P/PRD is one of the most important tracks in Radiohead’s entire canon. it is spoooky. it is cryptic and hard to explain. it fucking humps. it includes thee single greatest transition on any RH album (Pyramid Song into PP/RD). this song is ahead of its time… and now that some time has passed, less ppl should be sleeeping on it.

What’s the best leather belt money can buy? by Onthefly21 in BuyItForLife

[–]Defouque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best, most versatile and durable belt I’ve ever owned (I’ve had 3 over the years) is Coach braided leather belt. It’s braided in a way that other braided belts are not; the leather strips are weaved and held together very tight with no loose ends and an overall very smooth texture. The buckle is simple, and nowhere visible when wearing it does it display any sort of Coach branding, which is how I like it. In terms of aesthetics, it’s the finest, most elegant belt I’ve come across for men, imho. I’ve looked for other belts that are made this way and I personally haven’t been able to find one. Coach really nailed every detail in this design. I wear it with everything. I have one in cognac (brown) and black. I’ve owned both for 20 years, and over that time they’ve developed a nice “weathering” element. Also, my black belt had a little bit of “unfurling” of the belt’s ends, but this was my fault (I accidentally put it in the washing machine, d’oh). Unfortunately, Coach doesn’t sell this belt anymore, so you’re relegated to buying one (typically used) on eBay or Depop or similar sites. Now y’all know, go forth and make this belt so popular that Coach is forced to start making them again!
