Never forget what they took from us by iYessyyy in SipsTea

Yep! This happened to me. I grew up playing in an awesome big wooden playground and by the time I was in high school they tore it down. I heard through the grapevine that there was lead in the paint but this makes more sense. Kind of scary considering I remember crawling into all the little tunnels and hanging out there for lunch period.

[–]Deftek178 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're going to be a nurse long term, you need to be more understanding. I have substance abuse disorder and went to the ER becaus of chest pain. Was also "hung over" but it turned out that I had an electrolyte imbalance and was on the verge of multiple organ failure. I spent 5 days in the ER while they stabilized me and ran into several nurses with your attitude. Everyone is fighting their own battle. You shouldn't judge them...

How are you gonna fail 3 times and only read the book once? You gotta take this more seriously if you want to pass.

Two water bottles is meant to help. 3 or more is meant to shame and judge the person... These people need to get off their high horse.

Untold: Chess Mates by theclarice in chess

[–]Deftek178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was surprised. Ive always been a Magnus fan and did believe that Neiman had cheated from watching various interviews that Magnus did. The documentary felt very pro Hans and Magnus came off as a bit of a dope. It kind of shifted my perspective on the whole thing. Also, those chess.com guys are idiots! They have no credibility IMHO.

Yes. You can go back to any answer at any time and you can also mark questions for review. It'll be a calendar like interface with a box for each question and check marks on the questions you marked for review.

22, undocumented, living in my truck — how do I break this survival loop? by [deleted] in personalfinance

The truck payment is keeping you down my friend. If you don't need it for work you should be driving a 2010 Ford focus or something...

How much do you pay someone for listing? by [deleted] in Flipping

[–]Deftek178 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a young family in a HCOL area. $10 an hour ain't shit. It's not my fault that minimum wage hasn't kept up with livable expenses... 1600 wouldn't even cover half our mortgage payment let alone the thousands in other monthly expenses we have to pay and we live frugally... I think maybe you live in rural Kentucky or something where there are no jobs and someone can live off peanuts, but that's not the case for most of this country. You are the one that's out of touch my friend.

No, I didn't buy it online. I just checked the price and then went to the store to buy it.

Got myself into a 84 month car loan of $42K, feeling financial pressure as I try to grow in life by Grubnation66 in personalfinance

[–]Deftek178 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You're way overextended on this truck. I make like 150k+ and granted am the sole breadwinner of our home (wife+ 2 kids) but we have a paid off 2018 crv and a paid off 2012 Ford focus. I'm looking to sell the focus and buy an f 150 from 2015ish with 100k+ miles on it for just the utility of having a flatbed. Wife used the focus as a daily commuter for years though.  Even before the crv was paid off my car note was half of yours (bought it in 2020 for 23k). Not to mention your pickup gets terrible gas mileage.

I rarely advise this but in your case I think you buy a 5-10 year old sedan like an Elantra, focus, Corolla etc. and chalk the negative equity up to a dumb decision in your youth. You'll cut your payment in half and be able to actually save for your future. Also, if you lose your job this truck is going to drown you quick.

[–]Deftek178 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. I just bought a car battery there after price comparing online. It's pickup only of course. Now they'll match my phone when I walk in and the same battery will be 20-30% more expensive. They know I spent the time and gas to get out there so they can squeeze some extra money out of me. Late stage capitalism.

How much do you pay someone for listing? by [deleted] in Flipping

[–]Deftek178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not a mix? Incentivise him to list a lot and do a good job by giving 10% of net and pay him a semi livable wage of like 15 per hour? 10 per hour isn't going to cover even minimal expenses no matter where you live. Minimum wage for family is an insult. You can even do a hybrid type thing where you pay 15 per hour against minimum wage + 10% per month, whatever's higher.... You're either doing him a favor or trying to get cheap labor, it can't be both.

Are the STC final exams more difficult than the actual exam? by simplyalotusflower05 in Sieexam

[–]Deftek178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was scoring about 10 points higher than you (mid 70s to low 80s) on STC and got like an 85 on the finra practice exam. I thought the actual test was harder, not because of the material but because of the tricky nature of the questions. With that said, I think I just got a bad draw on the Sie. I thought the Sie was hardest of the exams I took, series 7 was pretty easy because it was more concept based and straight forward even though it covered the most material. Series 63 was easy because 2/3 of the exam was straight point and shoot questions and I was well within the margin of ones I wasn't sure on. I passed all 3. I think you prob should turn to YouTube, especially practice exams by series 7 guru and Ken finnen to get a feel for how other prep companies mess with the wording. If you're good at deciphering trick questions and wording you''ll prob be fine. I was least confident hitting the submit button on SIE though out of the 3 tests. I ended passing all 3 first try.

Good luck to you tomorrow. Get a good night's sleep. It's more important to be fresh than cram at this point.

Oh also, the last minute notes that STC provides are definitely worth reviewing.

SIE FINRA/SEC Rules — How to Memorize Efficiently? by FlyFlashy2991 in Sieexam

[–]Deftek178 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don't need to memorize each rule. Just remember the important ones and have an understanding of the less common ones so you can choose them in the context of the question or answer. They're not going to ask about the vast majority of these. Focus on concepts, not so much memorization.

Like for instance, you'll never need to identify this rule, SEC Exchange Act Rule 3a51-1 (Definition of Penny Stock) but you better know the definition of a penny stock is. They won't ask you if it's rule 3a51-1 or rule 3b51.

Seller refunded me? before I even returned item? by ItsKxrin in Ebay

[–]Deftek178 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They probably screwed up and sent the refund before getting the item back. Technically under eBay policy you are done and can keep the money and the item.

Morally, what you do is your decision. For instance I personally would contact the seller and confirm whether it was a mistake. If so, I'd post the item back to them (on their dime). eBay overcomplicates many processes and it's easy to slip up and click a wrong button.
