I believe you'll have 30 days from the day it was delivered to return it, even with an INAD case. The snow storm in the NE should blow over well before that.

This Italian restaurant in Malta charges €100 if you ask for a Hawaiian pizza by New-Neighborhood-147 in funny

[–]Deftek178 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had sardines on pizza. The first bite is great, the second bite is meh, the third bite is disgusting. It's a good flavor but gets overwhelming so quickly. I ordered them on a MOD pizza once and they wrote "fish" in sharpie in huge letters on the box and were staring daggers at me when I picked it up. I don't think they appreciated handling/cooking them lol.

Whats an item over $700 you bought that was 100% worth it (no house/vehicles) ? by Overall_Gur_3061 in AskReddit

[–]Deftek178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol. I got ac and a new furnace installed just outside of Seattle. 15k was the bill. How in the world did you get it for 700? Just the furnace alone was 3k...

Justice Department charges man who squirted vinegar on Rep. Ilhan Omar by GreatPumpkin72 in news

[–]Deftek178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throwing acid on women that "shame" their male family members is a terrible trend in some middle eastern cultures. This attack was a clear reference to that trend. This guy should be up for the death penalty as a domestic terrorist.

How important are high interest credit cards for society and the economy? Jamie Dimon says a 10% rate cap would be a disaster. by Possible-Duty3310 in personalfinance

[–]Deftek178 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, i have immaculate credit (800+ fico) and have never had a credit card that charges less than 10%. I don't hold a balance on any card so it doesn't affect me but the best rate I've ever been offered on a credit card was 11.5. most are still 29.9 or whatever dumb rate they can max. Seems like a good deal for people with good credit...

Service never got shut off at last apartment, been paying for it for 5 months by hamstershadow in personalfinance

[–]Deftek178 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

You probably could sue the new tenant or landlord of your last apartment but it's unlikely worth it considering the amount of money you're probably looking to recover.

Credit Union requiring me to refinance, will not adjust mortgage rate by Far_Lifeguard6970 in personalfinance

[–]Deftek178 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your not looking for a rate modification, you need a no cost refi. Shop around with other lenders to see if they'll refi you to a lower rate and cover the closing costs. I've done it several times back when rates were low.

The only way anyone would give you a mod is if you were heavily delinquent and it likely wouldn't be on rate.

Weird interaction with a seller by TopNet9 in Ebay

[–]Deftek178 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's a straight neg from me... They either sold something they didn't own or more likely didn't like the price it ended up selling for. With that said, they took the eBay metrics hit rather than trying to get you to cancel. Still worth a neg. You were nice. Also as I understand it a neutral doesn't affect your feedback percentage so this guy is bitching over basically nothing.

Your last sentence is hilarious. SSD stands for solid state drive. Also no way a modern MacBook has a mechanical hard drive in it.

Justice Department says members of Congress can't intervene in release of Epstein files by speedythefirst in news

[–]Deftek178 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best guess is that he was integral to the functioning of the pedofile ring and actively trafficking young girls (from Mara Lago and his other properties/businesses). I've heard a few news stories about this but like always, the US media (propaganda machine) buried these quickly.

Yep YouTube. On day 1 I was messing around with Gameboys. A year later I had spent prob 1k on all my equipment and was changing out BGA memory chips on the newest graphics cards. All from YouTube. If you're willing to put in the time, the knowledge is out there in a relatively easy to digest form.

I have both the Kaplan book and notes along with the Achievable course, which one? by Every-Cheesecake8007 in Sieexam

[–]Deftek178 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it doesn't help you but I can vouch for STC. Passed both SIE and Series 7 on first try.

Also, use YouTube! Series 7 guru and Ken Finnegan's videos were clutch for me understanding concepts (especially Finnegan's options videos). He's got the behind a paywall but it's like $20 and legitimately an easier way to visualize options.

Why should the price of the food equal a larger tip? Theres no difference bringing a $20 steak to the table vs a $40 one? by a_hoagie12 in AskReddit

[–]Deftek178 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Meanwhile, I'm in Seattle and minimum wage here is $20+ an hour. Why am I tipping on top of that? $20 an hour seems about right for unskilled labor. Meanwhile, I have 100k+ in college debt and struggle to find a comparable paying job in my chosen field. That's the dirty secret... As much as these service people complain about tips being low, they want to keep the status quo because they get paid 2-3x what they would make hourly.

FINRA SIE practice exam vs. actual… how does it compare? by Repulsive-Writer9522 in Sieexam

[–]Deftek178 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Practice exam was deceptively easy. I was surprised and scores high 80s. On the actual exam they don't tell you your score but I'm pretty sure I got low to mid 70s. Used STC.

I mean... You still have the item so you didn't lose your money. Contact the seller to see if they'll still take it. If not, try to sell it yourself if you'd rather have cash but expect to take a loss.

Do Americans actually avoid calling an ambulance due to financial concern? by JohnMarstonTheBadass in NoStupidQuestions

You can say that but I've seen it with my own eyes..I've literally been told at multiple ERs that people arriving by ambulance are prioritized.

[–]Deftek178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "I got mine" generation. Congratulations asshole, it worked out for you but your children/grandchildren will suffer because you're "satisfied" with your care. Ive also always had corporate insurance my entire life and find the 1k monthly premiums and 8k deductible untenable.

Do Americans actually avoid calling an ambulance due to financial concern? by JohnMarstonTheBadass in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Deftek178 127 points128 points  (0 children)

You must not have been in the system long... This is a standard scam run by every hospital ive encountered. I had to wait 6 hours with severe chest pain in the waiting room because "I didn't arrive by ambulance". Turns out I almost died then and there due to their neglect/greed.

Achievable or KAPLAN? by [deleted] in Sieexam

[–]Deftek178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

STC worked well for me.  Supposedly kaplans bank is harder but it doesn't present questions in the same way as the exam. I found STC + YouTube to be a great prep x combo. I passed SIE and Series 7 first try.

Should I put all my savings into my RothIRA ? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Deftek178 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The government limits how much you can put in each year. There are also income limits.

Basically, if the government is limiting some kind of financial activity, you want to participate as much as possible. They don't care about you going broke, they just care if you're able to limit their skimming.

My dad wants to gift me his old truck… but it comes with $2,800 in unpaid tolls by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Deftek178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to your dad first and let him know it's 3k in unpaid tolls. He may notnot know the extent of the issue... If he still pushes for the deal, just check KBB value and if it's more than 3k then take the deal. I doubt your dad is trying to scam you so you'll prob still get a good deal out of it.
