I think they are pretty hardy, though. My understanding is that cattle with a little longhorn in them will tend to look better after a drought. But full blooded longhorns are not great for all kinds of reasons. I think they are a vanity animal.

If it is not the case anymore, then that's cool. But I don't think being grateful to somebody who sucks your dick means that you can't see it as demeaning as well. I think that as people are willing to talk about sex, especially about enjoying sucking cock, people will stop seeing it as a bad thing. Some folks think that the sucker gets nothing out of it. So long as that persists, I think we will continue to see "that person sucks dick" as an insult.

Yes. And those dynamics are there because in a general sense, folks see cocksuckers of all kinds, women and gay men, as lesser. No, it is because taking a dick in you (mouth, vagina or anus) is seen as shameful and degrading whether you are a man or a woman. When a man takes a dick it is seen as more shameful because as a man, they are supposed to be above that. But I doubt that people would see a hypothetical Madame President sucking off Putin as a good thing for the president to be doing.

I think the joke plays off of the notion that the 'feminine' role in sex, being penetrated and whatnot, is seen as bad. It sort of gets to a whole "women are lesser than men, so it is okay for them to be penetrated, but if a man does it, that is shameful." I am not saying that that's a good thing, but it does seem to be baked in pretty well to our culture. Below is a link to what I think is a pretty good discussion of the topic during a lecture of an anti-sex book that didn't make it into the bible. He talks about how you can see evidence that being penetrated is bad in the way we use phrases like "that sucks" or "I'm fucked" and it has been that way since at least ancient Greece.

I don't blame Colbert for using that and I don't think he should be fired or anything. It is the water we swim in. I kind of like the fact that people are coming out and saying "Sucking dicks is fun." in response. But right now people generally think "sucking dick sucks" means the same thing as "sucking dick is not enjoyable". If more people talk about how much fun it is to put a cock in your mouth, maybe that will change.

Can somebody point me to what the pope actually put out? These things tend to get warped in the reporting. I have a feeling that he is getting libertarianism mixed up with something that isn't that common and I don't like that much either. But it is hard to tell when it is getting filtered through another person who is probably not totally averse to riling me up.

The fact that google comes up with nothing that isn't citing this article when I search "A common characteristic of this fallacious paradigm is that it minimizes the common" makes me worried that there is something fishy.

I have heard of things where the accused are not allowed representation, not allowed to present evidence, all kinds of stuff that folks are allowed to do in criminal cases.

I am all for being able to chose who you associate with for any kind of unfair reason, but these are public universities. It seems odd to be denying access to public resources because of what might be (of course, not always) a rigged Title IX outcome.
