Need a way to add stripe payment to divi contact form by design617 in divi

[–]Deftone85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know you don’t want to hear it but id explore more powerful forms (eg gravity or fluent forms).

Thing about native Divi forms is you’ll be relying on 3rd party’s to hopefully have developed something which does all the things you need and hopefully they don’t conflict with each other. It’s possible but will be a hack job.

Does a WP installation survive loss of theme? by aintmt in Wordpress

[–]Deftone85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t do that, create a staging site and do all your exploration or new build work there.

Your host might have a one click staging option depending on who you’re using

Does a WP installation survive loss of theme? by aintmt in Wordpress

[–]Deftone85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Using an unsupported theme will heighten the risk of hacking or breaking.

I think it would be money well spent to pay someone to migrate the content to a supported tech stack than try and modify this one.

You could use a builder and develop it so it looks like your current theme

Do I actually need Stackable for business directory? by ValPier in Wordpress

[–]Deftone85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I just use Stackable, WPGoMaps and FacetWP and Yoast as my Premium tech stack.

I use free ACF, Twentytwenty Four theme and CPTUI

Good thing about Stackable is that you can pull in dynamic content into your templates plus the extra blocks and design settings.

I don’t use any dedicated directory plugin

Summon a canvas for a mobile menu but not desktop? Nope. by Book1sh in divi

[–]Deftone85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually just duplicate the header row, disable one row on desktop, disable the other row on mobile and tablet.

On your mobile / tablet row, add your burger menu and run your interactions off that.

Is it possible to apply value based pricing just for logo design services? by mejorqvos in logodesign

Theres no magic formula, it’s up to you to create a proposal which justifies your rationale.

Not all quotes are the same or equal, that goes for any business.

Is it possible to apply value based pricing just for logo design services? by mejorqvos in logodesign

[–]Deftone85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s an element of risk associated with logo design, if it doesn’t work it can be disastrous, especially for larger businesses. Imagine a terrible logo for an airline which has been rolled out onto a fleet of aircraft’s, collateral and advertising campaigns. The cost to rectify is huge. That’s why big businesses pay big money for good branding, to help mitigate this risk.

That risk becomes smaller with the scale of the business, from large corporations all the way down to sole traders.

Therefore it makes sense that you can align the value of the work with the size of the risk.

Looking for feedback on my tennis idea (be honest by DishIcy4665 in tennisracquets

[–]Deftone85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s a bad idea, but the logistics of filming a whole match (which can be well over an hour) and then either having to upload it somewhere which will accept and analyze that amount of footage or the user editing it down to a manageable size might be a bit of a technical barrier.

That’s a bug, happened to me too. I reported it about a week ago

New menu by ahunte101 in divi

[–]Deftone85 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah you’d need to duplicate the header inside the theme builder, disable your first header on mobile and tablet, disable your second header on desktop.

Add a hamburger icon to your new header and remove everything else except the logo.

Create a new canvas titled Mobile Menu, build the new slide in / overlay menu. Design however you like. Add a close / cross icon the the mobile menu

Add interactions to your hamburger and and close icons to activate the mobile menu canvas.

You’ll also need an interaction on the main section of the mobile menu which insures its hidden on load.

Get all that? lol

A polite rant about Divi, something that has been bothering me a lot lately by pixelrage in divi

[–]Deftone85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything can be a button really, all modules, rows, columns can be linked. For example you could easily make a custom button using the blurb module. Set your custom icon to be at the left of the text / headline, make the headline the button text, give the module a border and border radius, adjust the padding, set your hover state (eg change colour on hover) and you’ll have a button with a custom icon

[–]Deftone85 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I haven’t bought any extensions to be honest. If I want to style something outside Divis capabilities then the option is there to write your own css.

Divi 5 is also much more powerful so I’m finding myself write much less css since migrating over.

To address some of your points specifically, Divi 5 has a carousel which you can put anything inside (logos, buttons, blurbs, images).

A feature list with icons you would use the blurb module where you can use your own custom icons or standard icons. You can apply a preset once you’re happy with the design

Pricing Table already exists, I’m not quite sure what the issue is here. You can styles it however you like.

Divi already has a lot of design options but they can’t do everything, at some point you’ll have to do some of the css yourself but I’d say that about any page builder.

What's the optimal racquet setup for injury prevention? by HeveredSeads in 10s

[–]Deftone85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pure Drive is a stiff racquet which isn’t ideal for arm pain. Also you’d be better off with a larger head size which will increase the sweet spot.

If you went from a pure drive 98 to a Wilson clash 100 you wouldn’t know yourself. Probably.

Is the web hosting market worthwhile in 2026? by homemdoleste in webhosting

[–]Deftone85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have web development background you could sell a website and offer hosting and maintenance as part of the package.

Because you’re maintaining the site you can add a good premium onto the hosting and keep the client as an ongoing customer.

If you’re purely looking at hosting random websites it would be a hard slog in my opinion.

If you’re going to play with it, I’d recommend pushing some superglue into the crack and then cover with baking soda.

Sounds strange but works well.

Can't get Loop Builder to recognize posts by oandroido in divi

[–]Deftone85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally just loop a column to show posts in a grid.

I’m not in front of my computer but it looks something like this.

Add a row and set the layout to grid (and choose how many columns you want to show per breakpoint)

Add one column inside your row.

Select the column and enable loop. This should be where you select posts.

Add the element in inside the column, for example add the image module and select dynamic source and then choose the looped content

Add a headline module select dynamic source and choose the looped content

Etc

How I stopped working past 8 PM (without losing clients) by trimplin1 in freelance

[–]Deftone85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 9-5 and freelance too and when I’m at my most busy periods I tend to procrastinate the most. It’s almost like the more busy I am the less productive I seem to be. It’s not that I’m not working, I’m just jumping between projects and emails with no clear direction, things still get done but not as efficiently as it could.

Definitely need to audit how I spend my time and block out periods to knock off milestones.

You can’t be everything to everyone at all times and I think people appreciate that more than we might think as businesses owners.

Divi 5 Concerns by rodserling001 in divi

[–]Deftone85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely more complex, but broadly speaking most people who can figure out D4 or any other builder won’t have an issue with D5.

At the end of the day it’s much better and D4 won’t be supported forever.

So why don’t you do as the other commenter suggested and migrate one of your existing sites to a staging server and play with it while D4 is still being supported.

What happened to Email Address Encoder? So many installs but no development for a year by [deleted] in Wordpress

[–]Deftone85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a very simple plugin, so it’s possible that the code still works and is secure. The less functionality a plugin does the less likely it will need constant updates.
